• Save Ashcroft
Ashcroft provides essential care services for women who experience mental health difficulties. It is an almost unique service, being one of only two women-only specialist mental health units in the country and is a hugely valuable resource. Norfolk should be proud of its assets, not trying to save a few pounds forcing Ashcroft to close its doors. • Fully Fund the first treatment for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
Translarna is the first novel drug to be granted market approval for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) that treats the underlying causes of the condition. DMD is a life limiting condition for which there is no cure. The severe and progressive muscle wasting leaves young adults reliant on wheelchairs, ventilators and at severe risk of early heart failure. The US company PTC Therapeutics have been granted marketing authorisation in the European Union under the trade name Translarna for the treatment of Duchenne for a sub group of patients aged five years and older who are walking and have a single point variation in their dystrophin gene. This is a crucial landmark in treating Duchenne. Translarna is expected to be the first of other personalised medicines that are currently in clinical trial and could also become available to treat more young people with DMD. It is now imperative that all children who are identified with these specific Duchenne gene mutations have long term access to this novel therapy.

  • Share your cure for Multiple Sclerosis
It is important that IDS & DWP share this cure so that those that this cruel condition affects to the extent that they can no longer walk, talk, feed or dress themselves. Can get back to full health and therefore rebuild their pride and lives by returning to work or their careers full time.

  • Save the drugs under review on the Cancer Drug Fund list
I have Leukaemia and am treated with one of the drugs on the list for review. I know that I won't loose it, but many of us with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia and other Cancers are worried about the future and also patients newly diagnosed who may not get these life saving drugs at all. You can't put a price on drugs that will give you prolonged life for many years. We urge the Prime Minister The Rt. Hon David Cameron to keep to his promise to keep these invaluable drugs going either in the CDF or generally through the NHS.

  • Withdrawal of diabetic retinopathy screening in Heywood
diabetes affects all ages, sex and ability/disability however when having the screening done everyone is rendered almost sightless for a few hours and therefore extremely vulnerable - if they have to travel to another town to get this screening it they would either have to have an escort and take several buses or an expensive taxi and some diabetics are old and disabled plus they may be alone therefore having the test done locally would suit all concerned

  • Protect the public from fake health & care workers
This is important as highlighted by a number of recent cases, the most high profile of which was a young man in Sussex who was jailed for a number of years for fraudulently impersonating a paramedic and ambulance professional, gaining access to the elderly and vulnerable and causing harm. In this case, the police knew that the individual was a serious risk, knew the individual was an imposter, but had to wait until a crime was committed before eventually charging him with an array of offences. Read about the case here: http://www.sussex.police.uk/whats-happening/latest/news-stories/2014/10/14/fraudster-sent-back-to-prison-for-impersonating-a-paramedic Other cases have been individuals driving around in vehicle with blue lights and sirens, pretending to be ambulance professions and paramedics, a crime that the police can't arrest them for. Worryingly, the same applies to all health and care professionals, so if you want to impersonate a doctor, nurse, social worker, physiotherapist, AHP or any other kind of regulated health or care professional, this isn't an arrestable offence. IT IS SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE THAT INDIVIDUALS CAN FRAUDULENTLY DRESS-UP AND PRETEND TO BE AMONGST THE MOST TRUSTED MEMBERS OF OUR SOCIETY AND CANNOT BE ARRESTED UNTIL THEY HARM SOMEONE. PLEASE SUPPORT THIS CAMPAIGN TO REQUEST URGENT ACTION BY OUR GOVERNMENT.

  • Restrict fast food outlets and place health warnings in the windows and/or doors
Fast food is a health hazard. It is definitely unhealthy, non-nutritious, and contains huge amounts of fat. It is dangerous to health, causing obesity and heart attacks amongst other problems. Far too many people are using them for the source of their main meal of the day. The health problems caused cost the National Health Service millions of pounds a year. As with smoking, prevention is better than cure.

  • Save our NHS: Coatbridge, Chryston and Bellshill
Our NHS is precious. We all rely on it to care for us and our loved ones. We want to protect it for the future, and we don't want to see it run down or sold off. Over the past few years, NHS funding has been squeezed so much that services are suffering. This winter, hospitals up and down the country have declared "major incidents" because they're struggling to cope. And now most hospitals are warning that their budget for next year has " reached the point where patient care is at risk” Meanwhile, the government is letting profit-hungry companies take over more and more NHS services. At at a time of squeezed budgets, this is the last thing the NHS needs. We want an NHS where patient safety is put first, and where the NHS is run for the public good. TTIP, the planned trade deal between the EU and the USA, could threaten the NHS further. If TTIP opens our NHS to American private healthcare companies, we could see even more privatisation and a slide into more US-style healthcare. We want the NHS excluded from TTIP. If this is not the constituency that you live in you can sign the petition to your MP and the candidates to be your MP here: https://you.38degrees.org.uk/efforts/save-our-nhs/near/new

  • PROSTATE CANCER TREATMENT LOTTERY
I am effectively living a death sentence. I was lucky to have Abiraterone without first having chemotherapy. This drug gave me a super quality of life for 19 months. Enzalutamide achieves a similar outcome by a different means. For so many those extra few months are all they seek. I am at peace with my situation. NICE in its July 2014 report , Paras 6.1 and 6.2 States it supports the manufacturer's ongoing commitment to collect data on the effectiveness of Enzalutamide after previous treatment with Abiraterone. The Committee considered that if Enzalutamide is used in routine clinical practice for treating Advanced prostate cancer, after Abiraterone, resource use and overall survival data should be collected. How if they have not sanctioned its use in England in these circumstances? The manufacturers have made it available through patient access means. If you can raise the money you can buy the extra time. The disease does not respect national bounderies, neither should the treatment, we are still one United Kingdom!

  • Justice for Ernest John Coles
This is important as I have researched this multimillion pound company who are registered as a charity and I believe they have something to hide. I and others have contacted them many times but they refuse to acknowledge their responsibility for the care of Marguerite Coles. She is far from alone in receiving bad treatment from Sanctuary, one of the largest and wealthiest housing associations, care providers and supporters of vulnerable people in Britain. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WicGHHgBKwY
