Ask leaders: What will you do for children in care? The forthcoming Leaders' Debate presents a vital opportunity for the voting public to hear how the different political parties would act in government over the next five years, if given the power to do so. Among the millions of children and young people who are affected by government policies every day, one group in particular rely more directly on government than any other – the 68,000 children in care*. For these children and young people, too-often invisible in political debates and without a vote of their own, the state has a special responsibility. Anyone seeking government office, not least hoping to be Prime Minister, takes on a ‘corporate’ responsibility for all children in care. We believe it is our duty as voters to hold our politicians to democratic account for their role as corporate parents to these children. If we don’t, who will? This General Election should be the first in which the nation publicly asks its politicians how they will live up to their responsibility to be good parents for our most vulnerable children. We call for the Leaders' Debate on 2nd April (and other leadership interviews) to include one simple question to all parties: ‘What will you do for children in care?’ *There are 68,000 children in care in England.878 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Chloë Darlington

SCOTLANDS STOLEN SEASScotland's economy has lost out since 1999 when Tony Blair and Donald Dewar moved the continental plate to take in 7 of Scotland's oil platforms. This was done the night before the Scottish parliament was resumed after 300 years. It did not get debated on, it was done underhandedly though we do not get the taxes directly to Scotland the revenues from these 7 oil fields should count towards Scotland's taxes. Instead Westminster is claiming them towards their tax revenue and undermines what Scotland is actually contributing.5,150 of 6,000 SignaturesCreated by ISABELLA DUFFY

Conservative Brian Riley should resign his position as county councillor by 20th MarchIn April this year Mr Riley plans on moving to America whilst still retaining his seat on the council and collecting the £10,273.74 a year it pays, although Mr Riley plans on travelling back every six or seven weeks to deal with council work. He is quoted as saying " he did not feel it would be possible to remain a member of a district or parish council while living abroad because they deal with “nitty-gritty” issues." “But as a county councillor my role is more strategic and I don’t think it will be a problem doing my work from Raleigh.” I personally wholeheartedly disagree with Mr Riley, I do not see how he can serve the Hadleigh Community at best while some 3,966 miles away. What we need is someone on our door step that is easily contactable when they're needed, yes there is skype and what not, but there are many people in Hadleigh that do not have internet access, and/or prefer to have face to face talks in person. I think the actions of Mr Riley are detrimental to the local community of Hadleigh. Mr Riley should resign by March 20th to allow a by-election to happen the same time as the general election, otherwise he will keep that position until 2017. Its about doing whats right for the people of Hadleigh, and staying on whilst living in America does not meet that criteria.149 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Mark Pryke

Stop Filibustering in The House Of CommonsWe deserve a certain standard of behaviour and serious protocols in the House of Parliament to ensure the business of running our country is done in an efficient and balanced way. Politicians should stop employing tactics to side rail issues that are important to us, the population of this country.137,194 of 200,000 SignaturesCreated by Mike Woolfe

Support the 2015 NHS Reinstatement Bill on 11th March - Petition now closed 12 March 2016The NHS is being taken apart. The Health and Social Care Act 2012 abolished the legal duty on the government to provide key NHS services in England, and took marketisation to a new level. We need a law to reinstate that legal duty, stop marketisation and privatisation, and to re-establish accountable public bodies. Without a law, the process now rapidly underway will continue. This is why barrister Peter Roderick and public health Professor Allyson Pollock drafted a NHS Reinstatement Bill in August 2014. This Bill was put out for consultation, and dozens of individuals and organisations responded. The consultation on the proposed NHS Reinstatement Bill ended in December 2014. Revised to take account of the consultation results, the Bill proposes to fully restore the NHS as an accountable public service by: -reinstating the government's duty to provide a comprehensive universal health service, -reversing 25 years of marketization in the NHS by abolishing the purchaser-provider split, -ending contracting, -making the NHS TTIP-proof and -re-establishing public bodies and public services accountable to local communities. You can find out more about the bill here: http://www.nhsbill2015.org/nhs-reinstatement-bill-new-version-published/.624 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Jenny Shepherd

NO MEANS TESTING FOR WAR PENSIONSI keep hearing of brave veterans being left with only £10 of their War Pensions after being means tested. The rest of the basic War Pension, after this first £10, is counted as income when the Department for Work and Pensions calculates what level of means-tested benefits to pay and affects veteran's benefits and is, therefore, lost. Benefits affected are such as Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance or pension credit. This is basically and morally wrong. The government work out how much you need to live on, but this pension should not be counted. These men and women fought and put their lives on the line to allow us to live safe lives today. Please don't take that well earned pension away from them, which also takes away their faith in this country and make them wonder why they bothered in the first place. Leave them some dignity and keep off their War Pensions.442 of 500 SignaturesCreated by David Craig

HMRC investigate the accounts of LionheartGB, Britain First, The Patriot Store. The Patriot Store is all pervasive on many pages on Facebook. Originally the domain was registered by Mr James Dowson (ex-BNP, ex-Britain First), but then transferred to Lionheart Products. EVERY Britain First, LionheartGB (and others) pages contain links to the Patriot Store. The newest page is Knights Templar International, which is being heavily promoted by Britain First. The website allows donations to be made (exactly the same as Britain First's), and it solicits donations from abroad. According to Electoral Commission rules, any donation of £500 or more must be returned to the donor if they are not on the UK Electoral Roll. It is urgent that the HMRC investigates the accounts of these 'businesses'. HMRC needs to find the links between the companies, just how many donations/profits are going to 'Britain First', whether or not the donations have come from abroad, and who is behind the entire 'group'.791 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Al Doughty

Amend the financial requirements for spousal immigrationThe Laws for UK Spouse and Partner immigration are tearing families apart. A requirement of £18,600 in income or £62,500 in savings is placed solely on the UK spouse. At minimum wage this would involve working 55 hours a week, which is simply unavailable in this climate. Many families and partners of British citizens are stuck from returning home due to the strict financial requirements, whilst European residents walk freely into the country. Ironically the English speaking countries of Australia New Zealand and America also fall under this bracket, unlike countries such as Romania, Russia and Poland. House owners and highly skilled workers, are all prevented from returning to the UK, despite being in well paid jobs abroad, this is due to the lack of work in the UK that exceeds this requirement. The requirements do not consider assets such as house ownership, or partners earning capacity. Those with savings are prevented from investing in the country as only cash savings count when held for over 6 months are considered. A plea to reduce this requirement to around £13,000 was rejected by the high court claiming it did not infringe on the right to a family life. However it seems obvious it is. This is clearly a move to reduce immigration that has failed, it has isolated working and middle class families, and by its own admission ''did not consider any other factors but financial, and was based solely on central London'' Its other purpose was stated as being to stop dependence on state support, however this does not prevent foreign EU residents from claiming state support, only British citizens wishing to bring their partners and family home. This is a policy from the Tory government which has betrayed our rights as citizens and further divided our ability to have family lives. Typically to Tory politics, this was based on money and favoured the rich. Please sign the petition to bring our families and loved ones home, so we may not be replaced by the new wave of European immigration.151 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Патрик Панда Холмс
