As I've got older I have learned to appreciate radio more than I previously did and with BBC having such a wide variety of different radio stations there is one which i have become more accustomed too in my older age and if your moving on through the years as i am, you will know what BBC radio station i'm talking about. Yes radio 4. I started on radio 1, worked my way to 2, skipped 3 and have comfortably landed on 4 all because one day at work (while painting) I thought why don't i learn a thing or two of whats happening around me while I'm working, so I did and so i write this. I mean there is a never ending list of great television shows and radio shows but for me there is one which stands out taller then the rest, and believe it or not its "women's hour". I was raised by strong women and i'm also currently with one and i know how much strength and character it takes to fight for everything you want in this world. So to hear women talk on political , historical, present day or sexual issues i feel it is of the up most importance. Its something we can all learn from especially men like me. So lets not just save women's hour but the bbc as a whole.

The BBC has been respected and appreciated across the whole world for decades, but is now being threatened by politicians with only a short term in power. We cannot allow the short term interests of the political world to diminish our loved British Broadcasting Company. Through disability I am at home most days and *find myself watching, listening or on the Internet with the BBC. The tiny 40 pence a day I am paying for the licence fee seems such outstanding value for money. It will be awful to find any further reductions in the material they provide. A price cannot be put on democracy, and the views of those you are elected to serve should be your primary focus. You must allow the residents of Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and East Dorset to have a say in the proposed council merger particularly as it will affect our services.

The Housing and Planning Bill 2015-2016 includes measures to sell "high value" council homes in St Albans off to the highest bidder. The government have not defined what is meant by the term "high value" and won't do so until after the bill is passed. Housing charity Shelter have estimated that using a standard definition of "high value" would mean the loss of approximately 60% of the council homes in St Albans or 2993 homes. The money from the sale of these properties will be handed over to the government, with the local council keeping a tiny fraction. If the homes are sold for an average of £150,000 (a fraction of what they are likely to be sold for) then local tax payers will lose more than £500m. By signing this petition At a time of the worst housing crisis since the war, we need more housing not less. These plans will lead to a reduction of council stock and affordable housing to rent. UPDATE: New amendments to the bill tabled by the Secretary of State Greg Hands in January 2016 also make provision for Developers to nominate private companies to process their planning applications. We worry an individual or organisation that submits a planning application will be free to shop around for whichever alternative provider they think can give them the best chance of getting a planning application accepted. These idea has already been trialed in St Albans and experienced issues, we are also worried about the effect of any privatisation of the planning process on the engagement of local people in planning applications. Many companies may prioritise speed over quality in determining applications.

Over 2 million pensioners will not receive the new state pension and will have to continue to live on £133 per week - some only receive £115 per week state benefits. For a Government that boasted a basic state pension of £155 per week, conveniently forgot to mention all existing pensioners will not receive this amount. To then expect them to pay the licence fee on top of their daily living costs, when they have little or no money to spare, is a damning indictment of the lack of care this government has for those at the bottom of the welfare heap. As a pensioner myself I know many pensioners who find it hard it is to pay their way, keep warm and eat healthily. You only have to look at the number of deaths of older people in the winter months because they don't have enough money to live on. I want you to sign the petition, so that we can put pressure on the Government to include welfare pensioners of all ages getting a free TV licence.

If a citizen lies to the police it's Perverting the Course of Justice and has serious consequences. If a citizen lies in Court it's Perjury and has serious consequences. But when Politicians tell lies in order to get themselves elected it's just 'Politics'. Politicians must be held accountable for the lies they tell in order to get elected and the only way to do that is to force them to be as good as their words by making the breaking of election campaign promises, such as David Cameron is doing right now with cutting tax credits, akin to a form of Perjury that is punishable by them being removed from office as a minimum.

The proposals in the Bill are designed to negate the ability of trade unions to effectively represent their members and hamper their support for political campaigns which can be used to defend vulnerable groups in our society. The Bill acts in contradiction to individual rights, fairness and social justice and therefore must be opposed.

David Cameron announced we’ll welcome 20,000 more Syrian refugees. But there’s a catch. This will take 5 years, leaving thousands of refugees in limbo. It’s now up to us to show that in cities, towns and villages all across the country we’re ready to welcome people now. Aylan, the toddler who drowned fleeing Syria, was just three years old. His town was under attack by Isis. His five year old brother and his mum also died trying to reach safety.We don't want Britain to be the kind of country that turns its back as people drown in their desperation to flee places like Syria. So let's stand up for Britain's long tradition of helping refugees fleeing war. Let's show the Prime Minister that we, the people of the UK, are proud to do our part and provide refuge to people in their hour of need. It has never been clear since the dawn of the digital downloads era and we, the artists, often earn a very little income from selling a good amount of our music works which cost us a lot of time, love and money. It is important because the music industry is in crisis because of greedy companies like these (Deezer and others). Whilst I am a full time working musician, working hard and struggling to survive, these people and their employees which little have to do with music, make 20 times our profit just by addressing the products WE create, somewhere. ITunes for instance has a much fairer share of the profits with the artists who sell on it. I am a music producer, band leader of a successful Funk band, having sold 1715 copies of my first album on spotify and having earned 5.4€ from it sounds rather offensive. This is not the way the music business should go as they are killing the arts and the art of recording albums. I shall make my money back from the works I sell, not funding my music through borrowed money. We demand a fairer share of these streamed music deals, because in the past they've promised that they would give us more when they'd have more subscribers. Spotify accounts for 20 million active users and still pays artists around 0.002 pence per stream. This has to come to an end!

David Cameron pledged before the election that tax credits were "not going to fall". However, George Osborne's welfare reforms have included tax credit cuts that effectively act as a work penalty; punishing hard-working lower-income families. Both the Treasury select committee and the Work and Pensions select committee have requested a full impact assessment from the Government, yet Cameron and Osborne have attempted to brush the effects of their cuts under the carpet by only setting out the impact on income for families already in receipt of tax credits. We need analysis of the impact on income that the tax credit cuts will have on the population as a whole, not just those already in receipt of tax credits, so that we can see the true, devastating effects of these welfare reforms.

In this time of austerity, cuts and financial difficulty for some of the poorest in society, we need a strong opposition to Tory policies. A minority of Labour MPs cannot be allowed to divide the party on such important votes which will affect millions of people.

This behaviour is not only disrespectful and disruptive of proceedings (setting the worst example to the country and giving a terrible impression abroad), but it is used to bully and intimidate legitimate questioning of the PM by our elected representatives and shows contempt for the citizens of the country. There can be no justification for it and it must be stopped - the House of Commons is NOT a school debating society.
