• Food waste bins for Poole residents
Last year Poole council decreased our bin collections resulting in bins covered in maggots and flies. In the height of summer many of us couldn't open windows or let our children play in the garden. We don't want to endure this again. Bournemouth and Purbeck councils have got theirs, we want PBC to give us ours.

  • 30 Month Visa Route Inappropriate
It is important because the thirty month visa route seems to be too short, because by the time you spend two thousand pounds for the visa route, in a matter of time you would need to start getting money together to renew it. If you have children this could affect you even more because of other financial difficulties. In conclusion if the government increase the thirty month visa route to sixty months an individual will get prepared for the extension of their visa and this will also help out a lot of people.

Suicide prevention hotlines work incredibly hard every day to save endless lives and the fact they get paid only a little more than minimum wage is terrible.

  • Premier League should invest in grassroots football in Merseyside
The younger generations of now and the future are becoming increasingly restricted to play the game that dominates our sporting world. Their desire to play and fulfil their dreams of becoming the professional players of the future are hampered by a lack of suitable pitches to play on. Waterlogged unsuitable pitches are on the increase due to lack of funding, making this 'winter sport' only possible in 'fairer' weather conditions. The Premier League continues to grow and will generate over £5bn in the next 3 seasons in broadcasting rights. The Government must encourage the FA to ensure that 7% of this goes to fund grassroots football nationwide but our pledge is to secure funding for Merseyside. How do we encourage the future generations of football that their dream is possible when there are fewer and fewer suitable places to play? As a nation we invest in and support our teams at the stadiums, through broadcasting, buying their merchandise in addition to sharing the joys of victory and never losing hope with losses, surely its time for something in return to ensure that the youth of today can be given every opportunity to develop into potentially our future professionals.

  • Tax Insurance Company Profits To Put More Police On The Streets
The current insurance system is broken. The more crime there is, the more premiums increase, and yet none of that money is ever used to prevent crime. It is not in the insurance companies interest to reduce crime, because that would mean they would have to lower their premiums (and hence profits), rather than increasing them every year. I propose a special tax should be levied on insurance companies, and that the money raised should be fed back into the Police's budget to put more officers on the ground, thus reducing crime. It would be a win for the good people of this country, and a win for the police. The only people that stand to lose anything by this arrangement would be the insurance companies, and I seriously doubt anyone really cares for their profit margins! As an example, my car insurance has increased by £400 this year. I haven't moved, I haven't had an accident - it's simply down to the fact that the area I live in has seen a spate of thefts. Surely, that £400 would be better spent on police, rather that ending up in the coffers of some insurance company.

  • Medical Professionals in the UK Seeking Registration
Medical Professionals in the UK Seeking Registration is a campaign group being launched through RAPAR of around 500 medical professionals - doctors, nurses, technicians, pharmacists and dentists - who are being prevented from working in the NHS because of the unreasonably high English language testing requirements currently set by the professional bodies responsible for registering them. This problem also affects many more medical professionals who are not yet members of the campaign group. The campaign is calling on the GMC and other bodies to return to more realistic and appropriate English language requirements. Doctors who passed the previous language test standards are currently working successfully in the NHS. But now highly qualified doctors – many of whom have been forced to flee their home countries for humanitarian reasons – are being stopped from using their skills and expertise. Four years ago, the GMC raised its already high score for doctors in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) even further. The exam tests general knowledge of English language and includes topics such as archaeology, jam making and current affairs – much of it irrelevant to the kind of terminology used by medical professionals. Dentists, pharmacists and technicians have also had their English language testing scores raised and want a return to the previous levels. In addition, they are asking the councils responsible for registering them to introduce the Occupational English Test (OET) which will cover medical contexts rather than topics that have nothing to do with their professions. Patients are in urgent need of these medical professionals - they should be given the opportunity to use their knowledge, proficiency and dedication to work in our struggling NHS.

  • Say No To Times Tables Test For 8 And 9 Year Old Children
Teachers already know exactly who needs support in learning times tables. Some children are naturally great at remembering facts, whilst some children will agonise over it. We do not want maths to become fearful for some children. This test is unnecessary. To introduce another test that will need rehearsal, will add to our children's stress. At a time when we are more and more concerned about our children's mental well-being this is a test too far. Staff who already are under pressure to perform, will continue to leave the profession. The Government say that they need evidence so that they can put in place more support. Is this really going to happen when we know funding is tight? Will there be more funding for extra staff or will school resources be stretched even thinner? Schools will be forced to over-learn times tables and so something again on the curriculum will have to go. More time chanting tables, less time on creative subjects such as arts, dance, drama. We want our children to have skills ready for the 21st Century. We need collaborators, entrepreneurs, free thinkers. We do not need our children to have the skills that were needed for the Victorian Industrial Revolution - which is what our system is currently based on. So in conclusion, please say no to these times table tests for 8 and 9 year olds. They are not needed. They are not relevant to modern England. They will cause more stress and anguish.
