By the time you finish this sentence, Amazon boss Jeff Bezos will have made £12,000. But despite its massive wealth, Amazon has started wriggling out of paying a new UK digital tax - by passing the extra cost directly onto the small businesses that use its website. At a time when these businesses are struggling to get by, it’s an indefensible decision. The UK Government introduced the new tax in April, to try to make massive digital companies like Amazon pay their fair share. But even though Amazon has made billions during the coronavirus crisis - and only paid 2% tax on it’s UK earnings last year - the company has found a way to get out of paying the new tax by directly hurting small businesses. Let's show them that is not acceptable.

Speeding and antisocial driving are of significant concern to many residents. We would like to see speed limits and road safety measures reviewed and more frequent speed monitoring on several roads, at the times when residents know that the issues are most severe.

The government just unveiled its “once in a generation” plan for housing - and and it’s a huge blow to nurses, teachers and anyone struggling to pay sky high rent, or unable to find a home they can afford. Under the proposals, property developers who don't build any affordable housing on some sites, will continue to get away with also not having to chip in to help councils build affordable homes elsewhere. A whole generation of people are being locked out of decent housing, and housing charity Shelter has said that social housing “could face extinction” if these proposals are approved. We can’t let that happen. These plans aren’t set in stone - yet. The government wants to hear from us before it makes any firm decisions. It’s the perfect opportunity to tell them - loudly and clearly - how disastrous this could be for millions of people struggling to find affordable housing.

Thousands of school students have had their final results unfairly downgraded. Many received a mark lower than what their teacher predicted - even though no-one sat an exam this year!Those in deprived areas were twice as likely to have their grades lowered. There’s a simple, fair solution: no student should get a grade lower than the one they earned on their mock exam. But today we need to prove to John Swinney that tens of thousands of us in Scotland think this is a better, fairer idea.

The Swanscombe Peninsula is home to a remarkable mix of habitat of high value to wildlife – these include grasslands, coastal habitats, brownfield features, scrub and intricate wetlands. Known as Swanscombe Marshes, this urban wilderness is home to thousands of species, including over 200 invertebrate species which are rare or under threat. As well as abundant bees, butterflies and beetles, Swanscombe Marshes is one of just two places in the UK where you can find the Critically Endangered Distinguished jumping spider (Attulus distinguendus). It is home to Nightingales, Cuckoos, Marsh harriers and a thriving population of Common lizards, thanks to its array of rich habitats. Swanscombe Marshes is not just important for wildlife. The site has been enjoyed by local people for years for walking, bird watching, angling and escaping the hustle and bustle of North Kent. But all of this is now threatened by the proposed London Resort theme park. Hyped as the ‘UK’s Disneyland’, much of the unique habitat of Swanscombe Marshes would be destroyed and concreted. The wildlife riches of the site simply will not survive this development. At a time when the value of wildlife and open spaces is being appreciated more than ever and amid a biodiversity crisis, we urge the Secretary of State to reject this unnecessary and ill thought out application. My husband has been a volunteer for 10 years at a NT nursery. It’s run mainly by volunteers with a small paid staff. This has been a lifeline for many volunteers. These people work together as a team. The nursery makes money and over the last few years the infrastructure and reputation that the nursery has built has made it successful and profitable for the NT. The profits have helped the NT. They sell plants to customers in their gift shops- the money made is ploughed back into the NT and the houses they support. Cornwall has suffered during this Covid pandemic. Lots of people depend on work which is below the national average, we need to keep these people at work. The NT should be looking at keeping their people employed- it’s the staff and their volunteers that keep our heritage alive.

I claim Universal Credit and it isn’t nearly enough to live on - especially with the increased costs of the pandemic. I have to make difficult decisions about what to spend my money on. Universal Credit has never been fit for purpose - but with increased cuts, the four year benefit freeze, and rising cost of living it's getting harder and harder to make ends meet. In the last 6 months millions more people - struggling during the pandemic - have had to survive on Universal Credit. With the furlough scheme coming to an end and the economic fallout of coronavirus very much still to come, this number is only going to increase. We need to urgently fix the problems with Universal Credit so that people are getting enough money to survive, and get through this pandemic.

We’ve seen a massive increase in plastic pollution since lockdown lifted and take-away packaging is a big part of the problem. Now is not the time to backtrack on single-use plastic. We need to build back better and create a new normal – one that values our resources and champions reuse over single-use. Our tax system is deeply unfair. People who make their money from selling second homes and expensive artworks pay much less tax than the majority of us when we pay tax on our income. With the government looking at how to recoup the billions it’s spent during the coronavirus crisis, increasing tax on these profits - called Capital Gains Tax - would be a fair way of helping cover the cost. It would mean the government wouldn’t need to make cuts or increase taxes that would make life harder for frontline workers, NHS staff and all those who have struggled to make ends meet over the last few months.

The Tramways Bowling Club, now closed, goes back over a hundred years. Their green was gifted to them by the old Edinburgh Tramways Company. Lothian Buses inherited it by pure luck. Now they want to take it from the local community and sell it to a private developer, flying in the face of Edinburgh Council's policy to provide more green spaces. It is totally unsuited for commercial development, being situated in the corner of a quiet crescent in the corner of Pilrig and surrounded by homes. A local charity, with the agreement of the club, were going to turn it into a public garden for the local population. Edinburgh Council own Lothian Buses and should tell them to hand the site over.

This is an essential matter of road safety, public order and public health. The pandemic has reminded us of the necessity to protect the NHS. A crucial part of protecting the NHS is to prevent injuries and harm from happening in the first place. The proliferating noise nuisances resulting from the lack of law enforcement, in particular of section 59, are blighting lives and causing long term damage to public health in many communities.

For over 6 years now we as a family have taken pride in caring for the Manor Farm 22 acre site. When we moved in it was heading into ruins with vandalism and lack of care. My family and I were welcomed by the local residents and community and we felt obligated to do what we can to make this site enjoyable to all. In doing so we have been pleased to offer our dog day care and dog homeboarding service since 2014 along side all of the other benefits to the site. Many of you may have heard of our dog cafe that opened 3 years ago in Wythenshawe called "The Beach Dog Cafe". We have now moved our cafe to this muched loved site. In order to do this planning permission is required. And since our overall concept is unique some of our other services are being reviewed. So we need your help.  We know our ambitions are big for our Manor Farm site and the service we offer and we are looking for support to help bolster our application. Our 22 acre site will be more than a café and day care, it will be a focal point for the community - combining sports, outdoor recreation, a dog café, as well as a rewarding dog day care and dog home boarding service.  And if that wasn’t enough, we will have indoor space for small gatherings, exercise and fitness, as well as workshops and space for community organisations.  The Manor Farm site located in Timperley has lacked a  purpose for many years now but we feel combining these interests will offer fun, exercise, mental wellbeing along with community spirit for all to enjoy.   Please support us by signing our petition to grant planning permission to open our doors.
