• Allow Mrs Caldwell to access medicinal cannabis oil for her son with severe epilepsy
There is undue suffering and disability caused by preventing patients to medicinal cannabis. In light of accumulating scientific evidence that medicinal cannabis is not only alleviating pain and suffering but can also treat severe medical conditions, like severe epilepsy, it amounts to medical negligence to forbid access to treatment. Furthermore, it violates one's human rights to accessing life saving medication. The UK is a progressive country and needs to change the law to account for the scientific evidence available.

  • Campaign to reduce the speed limit on Ynysybwl road to 30mph
A recent accident involving a school girl being knocked down and seriously injured has highlighted further local people’s views about the safety of the main road. Several school buses drop off in the area and the area is filled with residential housing and a primary school. The speed limit of 40mph is unacceptable and needs reducing to 30mph. Traffic calming measures need to be introduced.

  • STOP THE CLOSURE OF DRUMPELLIER PLANT NURSERY!
North Lanarkshire Council intend to close the plant nursery in September 2018. This would be a great loss for the whole of North Lanarkshire, and would mean putting plant containers, bedding and floral displays out to tender to the private sector. Also, this would put an end to job placements and horticulture in this area, as well as the loss of visitors in Coatbridge. The nursery has over 100 years of service within this authority, and is used by several vulnerable groups, who would no longer have access to the support they get here. We recommend the council steps in to stop this closure and keeps the complex open to the public and available to the community. More than 1300 people have already supported our campaign by signing the petition available in the cafe at Drumpellier Country Park, please sign this petition to show the strength of support in the community for retaining this service.

  • Keep M&S Newton Abbot open!
It is a much valued and popular focus in the shopping centre, for both food and outlet bargains. If the store closes it will mean a very long journey for many locals to access their nearest M&S at Torbay.

  • Save Lincoln House of Fraser (Binns)
This is a profitable, long-standing, socially important resource for the local community. It provides a good range of products and services, owns it's own lease, and is a much-loved part of a vibrant city with great staff who always make people welcome. There seems to be no economic or social case for its closure.

  • Grant Endurance Ojo asylum
In 2011 I moved to the UK from Nigeria. After denouncing my membership in a gang my two brothers were killed for revenge. My life would be at risk if I returned. In 2012 I claimed asylum. Ever since then my application has been outstanding and the Home Office have refused to make a decision on my application. They know I have a young family here in the UK and I’m struggling because I can’t work and pay tax to support my family. Everyone in my family is British, my partner had 3 kids in her previous relationship and we have a daughter. I'm the one looking after everyone ever since she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Several letters and proof of our relationship have been sent to the Home Office, but they refuse to take this into consideration. My situation has gone from bad to worse. This is destroying me physically and mentally I don't wish this situation on anybody. Please make a decision and grant me asylum.

  • Save East Staffordshire's Public Toilets
This is important because closing the toilets is another way to penalise the vulnerable in our communities. For example people with long term health conditions who need to use the toilets regularly will be prevented from entering Burton or Uttoxeter. Closure would also affect families with young children, the elderly, pregnant women and those with disabilities. This could have a negative impact on the confidence of those people affected and more widely to Burton's economy if people feel they can not enter Burton because of the lack of toilets.

  • Demand for an apology for Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar, Massacre 1919
The monstrous act by colonial rulers is embedded in the psyche of Indian People and inspired them to seek complete independence In February 2013 the Former Prime Minister, David Cameron, visited Jallianwala Bagh adjacent to the Golden Temple, wrote in the visitor’s book,” This was a deeply shameful act in British history, one that Winston Churchill rightly described at the time as Monstrous. We demand this to be formally recorded in the House of Parliament. A formal apology by the serving British Prime Minister will cost nothing while the effect on the people of Indian Diaspora will be off a historical Magnitude and will help to move forward.

  • UK: Ban retailers from sending clothes to landfill
We all should be aware of the threat of global warming, and how it is rapidly affecting life on Earth. Much has already been done to ensure more sustainability in our daily activities, however, there is so much more that can be improved still! Whether a landfill is filled with general household rubbish like food waste and un-recyclable plastics, it is forgotten that this also includes excess clothing produced by a vast fashion retail industry. An estimated 300,000 tons of clothes are sent to landfills in the UK annually! Imagine how many refugees, homeless people and people living in poverty all over the world could benefit from more clothing being donated to charities! With the added bonus of reducing carbon emissions where the clothes would have been burned! Let's follow France's example and make our retail industry more eco-friendly and sustainable!

  • Atherton community centre changing rooms
Through many years and many generations Atherton community centre has been the home of countless football teams of all ages. But recent changes and requirements mean that to be able to enter the league, local football teams must provide somewhere for players to get changed. This means that local Atherton teams are having to travel miles away, to a playing field with changing facilities, to play home games. Taking home games away from Atherton deprives Atherton of its sense of community. As a community we are prepared to fundraise as much as we can for the cost of new changing rooms, but we wish the council would cooperate and help us by at least giving us planning permission. But they have been avoiding giving us an answer. Atherton community centre has been the home of football for Atherton for many years, myself and many other residents would hate to see there be no football teams left in our local area due to the minor requirement of teams having somewhere to get changed. I’m hoping that we can bring back local football to the community of Atherton.
