• Save Daisy Bank Woods
We treasure its calm, shelter and value the essential amenity as we walk to and from town for work and leisure. The trees provide a wildlife corridor, for animals including bats, black foxes, tawny owls, woodpeckers and jays.   Of particular concern is the preservation of existing trees before they can be fully protected as Local Greenspace by Calderdale's draft Local Plan. This woodland is next to the proposed English Heritage site, The Cat Steps and Skircoat Conservation area.  We would like its amenity and its wildlife to be protected for future generations. We believe this issue should be discussed holistically by the Council's Scrutiny Committee.

  • Save Our Out of Hours Services
Out of hours services are absolutely vital and should be delivered locally here in Dunfermline. Centralising services in Kirkcaldy will make the service inaccessible to many residents in Dunfermline and West Fife. We want to see NHS care delivered here in Dunfermline at our local hospital.

  • Sustainable palm oil
The preservation of the remaining rainforest is vital for the health of the whole planet, for slowing climate change, and to provide habitats for many endangered species. A BBC2 programme on 10 May will show the attempt to save the orangutans of Borneo, where most of the world's palm oil is produced.

  • Close Cambrian Road and High Street to unauthorised vehicles
At around 5.30am on the 30th April 2018, a car was driven into a group of people outside a nightclub on Cambrian Road in Newport City Centre The car was repeatedly driven into a crowd and two women have received life changing injuries due to this. Newport City Council, (in their wisdom) have decided to impose restrictions on the licensing conditions of one of the clubs on the street. This is not a solution to the problem and is being used for political point scoring. Cambrian Road (where the incident happened) and High Street both have automatic bollards in place, however the Council have allowed these to fall into disrepair. This petition calls on the Council to repair those bollards and close Cambrian Road & High Street during the periods specified above. This will ensure the safety of all people on a night out in the City Centre and prevent the possibility of this sort of thing happening again. Isn't it about time that the Council listened to those who use the City at night? This would of course be done in consultation with the businesses on High Street & Cambrian Road.

  • Sack Councillor Carroll
Elected officials in this country are supposed to be guided in their every decision by the 7 principles of public life. If we give this particular councillor the doubt, and ignore the codes on ethics and leadership, she surely a contravenes Article 3 of the code. Article 3 states the following: 3. Objectivity Holders of public office must act and take decisions impartially, fairly and on merit, using the best evidence and without discrimination or bias. How on earth can the electorate be confident that this councillor can adhere to this principle? We can't trust in her ability to act and make decisions 'without discrimination or bias' when she is clearly and unashamedly racist. The Committee on Standards in Public Life is currently undertaking a review of local government ethical standards which ends later this month. Their comments about the review imply that their findings are going to be even stricter than the current guidelines. 'Robust standards arrangements are needed to safeguard local democracy, maintain high standards of conduct, and to protect ethical practice in local government.' Surely this councillor must be sacked and a by election called, to maintain the integrity of public office and attempt improve the reputation of the Tory party.

  • INVEST IN HUCKNALL POTHOLES
Nottinghamshire County Council recently received £1.8m for potholes from the Government, however, only a mere 13 streets (High St, St. Patricks Rd, Greenwood Ave, Thoresby Dale, Co-Operative Ave, Occupation Rd, Wighay Rd, Albert St, Palmer Ave, Perelthorpe Dr, Polperro Way, The Connery, Titchfield St) in the whole of Hucknall are actually up for repair. Whilst we are glad to see some of this money spent on the above Hucknall streets, we are calling on Nottinghamshire County Council to spend more of its new-found pothole money on a further number of Hucknall streets, with particular attention to resurfacing: Beardall Street Cherry Avenue Farleys Lane Papplewick Lane Shortwood Avenue Watnall Road Whyburn Lane Wigwam Lane Windmill Grove Wood Lane Woodstock Street Yours, Cllr Keir Morrison (Hucknall South) Cllr Lauren Mitchell (Hucknall South) Cllr Nicolle Ndiweni (Hucknall Central) Cllr Lachlan Morrison (Hucknall Central) Cllr Rachel Bissett (Hucknall North)

  • Give Votes to Sixteen and Seventeen-year-olds
THIS IS ABOUT DEMOCRACY. Two weeks after the 2016 Brexit Referendum, I saw a sad message in a Ladies public toilet in Lyndhurst, Hants. Amongst the crude scrawls, in neat handwriting it read: 'Our future. No say'. Sixteen and seventeen year-olds may join the Army, and they are eligible for taxation. Their lives will be far more influenced by the vote to leave the EU than the age-group who have now lived most of their life, many of whom voted to leave. Voters from sixteen have the right to vote in Scotland. Soon the same will be offered to young voters in Wales. A United Kingdom must have a united democracy.

Resolving this issue is one which the government should prioritize as gender inequality is an issue which should not be prevalent in 21st century Britain.

  • Pedestrian Crossing on Cefn Coed Road, Cardiff
Lakeside Primary School parents and their children, as well as students from Cardiff High School and Cardiff Metropolitan University Cyncoed Campus cross this road frequently. We all need a safe place to cross Cefn-Coed Road as currently there is no provision and it has become quite dangerous due to the volume of traffic, and cars parked on this road.

  • Bring the Ban of single use plastics date forward to 2020.
Because the world is drowning in single use plastic and seven years is too long to wait for it to be banned. We need action taken now and to start looking into alternatives now so that the companies that produce all the plastic work together with the people who have the answers for alternatives to plastic and that way we can move forward to a greener planet. Single use plastic ... ie/ straws, plastic bags, plastic throwaway culterly, drink bottles, packaging for food etc. I feel hugely passionate about our gorgeous planet and the way that plastic is effecting it. Now that we know the damage plastic is doing, there is no excuse not to start changing things straight away. We have the technology, lets push for it to be used sooner.
