• Stop KCC cutting funding for Socially Necessary Bus Services (SNBS)
These bus services are a lifeline to our communities. If these essential services are scrapped, it will have a devastating affect on vulnerable people, the elderly and children amongst others. It will also be highly detrimental to community well-being, along with the local economies in a wide range of areas across Kent. Kent County Council must guarantee its residents the continuation of all of these vital transport services for the health and prosperity of the residents that currently use them, along with growing numbers that will use them in the future.

  • Stop planned changes to funding for women's refuges
New government funding plans threaten to dismantle our life-saving national network of refuges and put the lives of women and children trying to escape domestic abuse at risk. A Women’s Aid survey of refuge services showed that the proposed new model of funding could force over half of refuges responding to close or reduce their provision - resulting in 4000 more women and children turned away from the lifesaving services they desperately need. Already there are not enough refuge spaces to meet demand; data from Women’s Aid shows that 60% of total referrals to refuges were declined in 2016/17. When on average two women a week are killed by a partner or ex partner across England and Wales the stakes could not be higher. Under the new plans, rent money which would have in the past gone straight to domestic violence refuges would instead go to local authorities - effectively forcing refuges to compete for funding with other local services. Refuge managers have warned “if the plans get implemented it will be the end of domestic violence refuges." • Bank Holiday for Prince Harry & Meghan Markle's Wedding
In Britain we have fewer holidays than our European neighbours. Why not match the precedent set by the marriage of Princess Anne in 1973 and declare the wedding day a public holiday?

  • #LSEPayUp - Fair Pay for LSE Support Staff Now!
Support staff are an integral #partofLSE, and yet receive cuts to their pay in real terms year on year. Coupled with soaring childcare, transport, and living costs and a housing crisis in London that forces them to move further and further away from LSE, they are struggling to make ends meet. In Spring 2017 UNISON, Unite and UCU conducted a survey into the effects of pay stagnation on LSE support staff: 80% feel their work is not valued and 86% are not happy with their pay. The cost of living has risen by 11.9% over the last five years, and pay has risen by just 6.25%, steadily devaluing pay over time. Someone earning £25k is on average £4k worse off due to pay awards falling behind rates of inflation. While support staff receive annual pay cuts, Senior Management pay has soared. The Director's remuneration package has increased by 71% in ten years. The total number of ‘high earners’ – those earning over £100,000, has increased by 890% in ten years. Staff costs for high earners have risen from £2.3 million in 2005-6 to £30.7 million in 2015-6, representing a 1229% increase. LSE is in a strong financial position as detailed in its Annual Returns. It is investing substantially in its estate, and its current focus on the student experience asks more from support staff while their pay continues to devalue. In October 2017 the Unions submitted a reasonable and affordable claim for an uplift to pay for Professional Service Staff at LSE. We call on LSE management to meet this claim. If the LSE truly values its support staff, it must invest in them! FAIR PAY FOR SUPPORT STAFF NOW! #LSEPayUp

  • Keep the 5:38 from Selhurst to Luton running - Due to change in May 2018
If the train is stopped, then people who travel pass Blackfiars would have to find another means of transportation due to there no longer being a service (unless you change). This would extend their already lengthy journey time. This could also lead to job losses and could also effect Elstree Studios. This will effect commuters.

  • Change the way women’s refuges are funded
The changes, giving LA’s the money for refuges, will lead to refuges being closed because local authorities that are already stretched will be unlikely to want to pay for a woman and her children who have come from out of town( for safety reasons). The LA will want to use the money elsewhere, meaning more women will be killed and injured at the hands of abusive partners. It will also lead to more emotional trauma for children living in abusive households

  • The David Moore Gallery at Y Gaer, Brecon
This is important because David Moore should be recognised as an inspired man who put Brecon on the map for Contemporary art and also for obtaining for the town, important pieces of work by Internationally renowned Artists as a permanent legacy. He built up the temporary exhibition gallery over a period of twelve years, developing Brecon as a 'go to' place for exciting and educational Art.

  • Telford & Wrekin Stop Punching Down On Our Buskers!
This is important for the local buskers and for the community as a whole. with the ever expanding and growing town and ever increasing population comes art and culture. Buskers do a good job of entertaining the public and providing light entertainment generally in a professional and pleasant manner. Some of the buskers in Telford, of which maybe 10 are regular, rely on their busing monies to support them in their daily lives. Food, Water, Electric.. the essentials. It also has farther reaching benefits amongst those who struggle with mental health difficulties who use busking as a way to interact with the community where otherwise they wouldn't. This 'LAW' is designed to remove art and culture and to shut down buskers from being heard. it is supression of the arts for the benefit of big business.

  • Petition against Welsh Harp 25 metre phone mast (PA 17/4597)
The Welsh Harp is the only Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in Brent or Barnet and is home to a wide and rich diversity of wildlife. We are concerned by evidence suggesting a detrimental impact of wireless cell towers on wildlife as well as the building of such a visibly obstructive structure on the appearance and openness of this piece of Metropolitan Open Land. We believe that to give permission to this structure runs contrary to Brent Council's policy on the Protection and Enhancement of Open Space, Sports and Biodiversity. The proposed improvement of 3G coverage resulting from the mast would appear to only benefit a very small area and is disproportionate to the greater disruption of land and surrounding wildlife. The Welsh Harp is a truly unique and important site to local residents but also in its wider scientific, ecological and natural beauty value across London. It is our responsibility to preserve it for generations to come. We therefore strongly object to the approval of this site for the construction of a Mobile Telephone Mast under application PA 17/4597. To comment on the planning application individually please follow this link: https://pa.brent.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=makeComment&keyVal=DCAPR_136928

  • Stunning new theatre and Civic Complex for Tunbridge Wells? Yes please
The proposal to build a new Civic Centre would result in a greatly enhanced theatre and badly needed modern office space in the centre of our town. This is a real opportunity to develop Tunbridge Wells as a regional cultural hub with all the associated social and economic benefits. The proposed theatre would sit alongside Trinity, the new cinema which is to be part of the redevelopment of the old ABC site and the proposed new ‘Cultural and Learning Hub’ (the refurbished Museum, Art Gallery, Library, Adult Education and Visitor Centre). The proposed location, on the fringe of Calverley Grounds, will both maximise enjoyment of that public space and benefit from the proximity of the main railway station, as well as serving to connect the attractions at the top of town with those in the Pantiles. Existing facilities can be maintained whilst the new buildings are going up. Though the plans do not come cheap, I am persuaded by the arguments that they are affordable and represent good value for money, an investment for the future that will help ensure Tunbridge Wells continues to thrive. Refurbishing the existing buildings would be cheaper but still involve spending millions and all we would end up with is a slightly shinier version of the inadequate status quo. These are challenging times, but challenging times call for robust responses and I support the initiative behind these plans and would like to see them progressed. If you feel the same please sign this petition: the plans will only go forward if they have majority support. If you want to know more before you decide you can visit the website http://www.twciviccentre.co.uk or follow on Twitter at @TWCivicCentre.
