LondonOpen up empty buildings in EalingTo plead to the Council to open its empty buildings to the homeless in winter. I cannot imagine sleeping rough in driving, biting winds, snow, ice and winter rain. It's inhumane. It's also inexcusable when we have so many empty buildings.31 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Angela Nisco

BirminghamOpen up empty buildings in BirminghamBirmingham has one of the highest rates of homelessness in the country, three times the national average. Despite this, we have the space that could house every homeless person in Birmingham but bureaucracy stops the council doing just this!! It's inexcusable when we have so many empty buildings. Birmingham City Council - please open your empty buildings to the homeless in winter. Just a few years ago, there were fewer than 10 rough sleepers in Birmingham on an average per night. If someone lives and works in the city, there's a good chance that they will see that many just on the way home now. Birmingham City Council, you seriously have to address the root causes of homelessness however in the meantime, let's give rough sleepers some shelter at least over the frigid winter months.5,630 of 6,000 SignaturesCreated by James Lovatt

LondonOpen up empty buildings in LeytonstoneTo plead to the Council to open its empty buildings to the homeless in winter. I cannot imagine sleeping rough in driving, biting winds, snow, ice and winter rain. It's inhumane. It's also inexcusable when we have so many empty buildings. According to the charity Crisis 7,581 people slept rough at some point in London during 2014/15, a 16 per cent rise on the previous year, and more than double the figure of 3,673 in 2009/10. http://www.crisis.org.uk/data/files/publications/Homelessness%20briefing%202015%20EXTERNAL.pdf Data available at http://data.london.gov.uk/dataset/empty-homes shows that, as of 2012, the council owned at least 167 properties out of a total of 2885 empty properties in Waltham Forest. I urge you to follow Manchester's lead and make sure homeless people don't sleep on the streets this winter. Thank you!41 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Ciprian Diaconita
