To: Prime Minister David Cameron, Home Secretary Teresa May, H.M. Government

Additional Member System

We call upon and request that H.M. Government enact reforms to the current electoral system of the United Kingdom. Namely, that they implement a Additional Member System for the election of MPs to the House of Commons, by reducing the number of Members of Parliament currently elected to a constituency, and introduce a number of additional Members of Parliament to be elected by proportional representation to serve Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the historical English counties and cities, following cross party committee and in consultation electoral commission.

Why is this important?

The current electoral system though producing clear results, does not fully reflect the will of the British people in their electing of members of parliament. The Additional Member System retains the link between Members of Parliament and their constituencies, and also in most cases produces clear majorities; yet having a proportion element allows the people of the United Kingdom to better elect members according to their considered will and purpose.
