Two fire engines for Chester
SUCCESS AT LAST ! This Petition is now closed.
THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE SUPPORTED OUR CAMPAIGN TO SEE THE RETURN OF CHESTER’S SECOND FIRE ENGINE. TOGETHER WE HAVE SUCCEEDED !
On July 1st 2020, Cheshire Fire Authority voted unanimously to accept the four year plan (IRMP) proposed by the Chief Fire Officer.
In essence it was decided to return the Fire Engine from Powey Lane Fire Station back to St Anne Street in Chester City Centre when the new Fire Station (currently in build) is completed.
This move will redress the current imbalance of resources whereby there are THREE WHOLE-TIME FIRE ENGINES located in close proximity North of the A5117 which are ideally placed to service Ellesmere Port, whereas there is currently only ONE WHOLE-TIME FIRE ENGINE to service the needs of Chester.
Following the move each area will have TWO WHOLE-TIME FIRE ENGINES.
This campaign has run continually for three and a half years ( following the Fire Engine being moved to Powey Lane Fire Station in January 2017) since when our campaign team "Chester Retired Firefighters" have amassed and presented irrefutable evidence supporting our claim. Thankfully the Senior Management Team of CFRS and the FA now recognize the issues we have raised and have voted for the pump to return.
The success of this campaign is due, not only to the determination of "Chester Retired Firefighters" but is also due to the magnificent support we have been given by Chester MP Chris Matheson, Local Councillors from all parties, local business both large and small, our families and YOU THE PUBLIC.
You should all feel justifiably proud in what has been achieved in making Chester and it’s surrounding areas safer.
In total this online Petition and the paper version collected 7219 signatures which were presented to the Fire Authority.
SINCERE THANKS TO YOU ALL. TAKE CARE AND STAY SAFE
