Bowel cancer screening

Follow England’s and Scotland’s lead and allow the home screening test for bowel cancel in Wales after the age of 74. Bowel cancer becomes more common, the older you get, so why stop it at 74? Are the older generations lives worth nothing in Wales? If you are aged between 60 and 74, you will be invited to take part in bowel cancer screening every two years in Wales. If you are 74 or over, you are currently not able to self-refer back into the programme. If you live in England or Scotland they value the elderly lives more. Why? Let’s insist that Wales NHS also lets the over 74's continue screening.

Why is this important?

Personally, I have lost a cousin, two aunts and my mother to bowel cancer, and all but one of them were over the age of 74. I live every day wondering if this simple test could have saved them.
