CENSORSHIP OF THE INTERNET
Dear Home Secretary
Did you know that ATVOD, the Authority for Television On Demand, have over stepped their remit by a quite considerable 'mile' when they arbitrarily shut down the 'UKColumn' website on the grounds that it seemed to them "a bit like television", but what they in actual fact were doing was "censoring" information streamed on the internet, that they (on behalf of the government) do not want the general public to be informed of! in actual fact, this is a test to assess what the public reaction will be when they and the government tries to take full editorial control of what the public can do, watch and what information it can access and how it can use the internet overall.
It is without a doubt the most obvious case of abuse of 'authority' that the public has seen for a while. It is clearly an attack on the freedom of speech and freedom of expression, It has to 'STOP' this is a clear attempt at silencing the public's questions and opinions by an Authority (ATVOD) that is clearly biased towards the government and it's policies and it is clearly not at all in the public interest.

Why is this important?
This is extremely important issue as it is the governments first step in it's attempt to take full control of the internet in the U.K.. If they accomplish their goal... the internet will no longer be the fantastic tool for research, education and just about everything else we like about the internet?.... If the government takes control of the internet... you may as well switch it off and go back to watching the soaps & B.B..... which is exactly what the government wants us to do....... become the non-questioning, obedient couch potato, that does what it's told, when it's told, and NOTHING else!.............is that what we want or deserve?... I know I don't.
