Criminalise manifesto lies made by politicians

Make it a criminal offence for any elected government to U-turn on promises made publically or in a manifesto during the lead up to elections.

Why is this important?

The people of this country would have more faith in our political system if politicians were held to account in this way. The distinction between parties would become clearer. We would achieve genuine, much needed, political reform. It would minimise those individuals using our political system for their own financial gain thus reducing corruption.

Given G.O's recent admission that he lied in the Tory manifesto prior to the election, it's even more important to get this petition circulated so we can show politicians from all parties that enough is enough. This is not how democracy should be run. So please repost and email wherever you can and let's give them no room to lead us up the garden path.
