Don't cut vital support for disabled people in Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale & Tweeddale
Oppose the planned cuts to Personal Independence Payments.
Why is this important?
The Chancellor has announced plans to take £70 a week away from thousands of disabled people by cutting Personal Independence Payments (PIP). For many of us, this will mean losing the crucial support which enables us to get out of the house.
I have provided support to disabled people for over 20 years to obtain DLA and now PIP but I have never experienced such a reaction as I have lately with the continuous attack on their health and well-being.
I have seen many disabled people and also their families in tears about the results of the changeover from DLA to PIP and others who are extremely worried about what will happen when their turn arrives. Last year Motability estimated that at least 350,000 people will lose their access to a vehicle, which in most cases is their only method of engaging with others.
Now we have this latest attack and I know that many people in our area will be hit extremely hard by this cut - in most cases, removing their independence altogether. I know that to some people this may sound overly-dramatic but I can assure you that this is the unfortunate reality for hundreds of thousands of disabled people in the UK today.
This petition calls on our local MP to do all they can to stop this cruel and unfair plan.
Please, show your support for disabled people and help stop the cuts to PIP.
