Funded Sleep Support for All Families
Prioritise good sleep in the public health agenda ensuring funding is provided for families to access regulated support.
Why is this important?
The Children's Sleep Charity is contacted by hundreds of families each week, many who are at crisis point due to sleep deprivation. We are unable to meet demand due to lack of funding.
Sleep deprivation is costly to society and impacts negatively on the mental, emotional and physical wellbeing of the whole family.
Currently sleep support is unregulated which means that anybody can set up a business and offer a family information. Inappropriately trained practitioners can provide mis-information to vulnerable families. Sleep support needs regulation in order to protect families.
The importance of sleep must be addressed urgently. Evidence shows that providing a behavioural approach to sleep is effective and also hugely cost saving to the NHS.
