help save the children of Yemen

Please put back the humanitarian aid that will stop the innocent children of Yemen dying of starvation.

Why is this important?

This campaign was started by a group of woman friends in Sutton Coldfield that was formed six years ago to increase understanding and friendship between Muslims and Christians (all sorts from Quaker to Catholic) in the local area. We were so horrified at the terrible Belsen-like pictures of the children in Yemen, and so ashamed of our Government’s decision to cut the aid to them that we wanted to try and change it. We are not a political group(views are again very varied), but in this matter we do have the strong support of our local MP, Andrew Mitchell, who is deeply knowledgeable about what these cuts will mean and calls his party’s decision ‘unconscionable’. We have also received a strong letter of encouragement and support from Cardinal Vincent Nichol, head of the Roman Catholic Church in England. .According to UNICEF More than 12 million children in Yemen* are in danger from war, disease and hunger. The United Nations estimate that another 400,000 children under five are likely to die there this year, 2021.. Many children have already died of hunger because of the war. Children who die in this way suffer immensely as the functions of their vital organs slow down and eventually stop. Their immune systems are so weak they are more prone to infections with some too frail to even cry and their parents are helpless to save them.
Children are starving to death and it is entirely preventable, but at the recent UN donor conference, the response of the British Government to the ‘worst Humanitarian disaster in History’ was to cut its help in half. We are asking that the help be restored immediately to the level of 2020.
We cannot abandon these children
