HM Government must improve Coronavirus testing
According to coronavirus.data.gov.uk the test processing for Coronavirus is running at half the testing capacity*. It is important that test processing could be and should be increased massively to help save lives.
Why is this important?
Across the UK care home staff, social care workers and NHS staff are still calling for better and more frequent testing to allow them to avoid infecting their patients and their colleagues.
Better testing leads to less virus transmission, which in turn leads to fewer deaths.
We call on the government to put resources and effort behind the production, distribution and processing of Coronavirus tests to make better use of available laboratory testing capacity.
* Test laboratory capacity on Mon 3 Aug 2020: 338,413
Daily tests processed on Tue 11 Aug 2020: 164,061
