Keep the NHS free at the point of access
Please see attached letter from NHS Staffordshire. They have introduced substantial fees for the GP Referral Scheme for exercise at a local council gym. (Earlier this was completely free). The NHS should roll-back fees to their pre-October 2012 levels, i.e. make GP Referral Scheme free again.
Why is this important?
Obesity is a threat to good health and is best controlled through exercise. Diabetics can lower their blood sugar levels with exercise. Exercise also improves mental health. (Exercise releases a hormone - Serotonin - which reduces depression.)
