Move the Emett Clock back
The Emett Clock in Victoria Shopping Centre has been a staple attraction for Nottingham since 1973. It has always been situated at the entrance of the Victoria Centre outside John Lewis to be admired by visitors coming in via the main entrances including the side doors of John Lewis and Boots. In 2014 it was dismantled and taken to Tamworth for refurbishment of vital parts including the original colour of aircraft grey-green, the main frame and legs which had been damaged during removal when it was cut away from the concrete. It was given back to the Victoria Centre and put back on show in late 2015 however it had been placed on the upper mall out the way of the main shopping area, towards the back where it’s less populated and shoppers are less likely to walk to.
Why is this important?
It looks out of place and hasn’t been given the chance for new generations to admire and appreciate the work that went in to it. Regular visitors and residents of Nottingham remember the clock as it should be and have great memories of it. Now it’s been shoved to the back of the shopping centre it’s ignored by hundreds on a daily basis.
