Petition to reopen Hawksworth Wood YMCA

The YMCA is a huge building on our estate with the facilities to support and
encourage the education and development of our young people. It has been
empty since covid, only recently starting to open just twice a week for a few hours.
Our children deserve better than this!

Why is this important?

The YMCA tell the charities commission their values are:
We seek out: We actively look for opportunities to make a transformative impact on young lives in the communities where we work, and believe that every person is of equal value.
We welcome: We offer people the space they need to feel secure, respected, heard and valued; and we always protect, trust, hope and persevere.
We inspire: We strive to inspire each person we meet to nurture their body, mind and spirit, and to realise their full potential in all they do.
We speak out: We stand up for young people, speak out on issues that affect their lives, and
help them to find confidence in their own voice. We serve others

NONE of those values are reflected for our community here in Hawksworth Wood.
Their door is closed to our children.
> We want change.
> We want opportunities for our children and young people.
>We want the Leeds City Council to enforce change by YMCA or make the building available to our community for them to benefit.
