Offer to home 50 refugee families
Why is this important?
Aylan, the toddler who drowned fleeing Syria, was just three years old. His town was under attack by Isis. His five year old brother and his mum also died trying to reach safety. Thousands more Syrians have died from the Barrel Bombs that the Syrian Government drops on their homes daily.
The other day our prime minister said ‘we won't take any more refugees’. He thinks that most of us don't care. However over the last couple of days more and more people have spoken up over our appalling intake of refugees compared to other EU countries such as Germany, and Cameron has now said he will take in 'thousands' more. But don't let this momentum stop! This number is still vary vague and we should and can offer more refugees a safe place to live their lives. We also need to make sure that this is not a slow process but that we welcome people in right away. There are still people fleeing war, and crossing the Mediterranean as I write this, the longer we wait the more people will die, such as the little boy Aylan. He is not the first and nor will be be the last, but let's try and make sure we stop as many people as possible suffering as he and his family have done. We are all human, let's not be the kind of country that turns its back as people drown in their desperation to flee places like Syria.
Let's stand up and help refugees fleeing war, they have already suffered so much. Let's show the government that we are proud to provide refuge to people in their hour of need.
