Press reports indicate that Argyll and Bute Integrated Joint Board are at the end of this month (March 2018) to consider proposals to shut Struan Lodge ( again) and all similar council run facilities in the region. In addition all day care facilities for adults with learning disabilities are being considered for closure also. It is essential that our local communities are consulted fully before any proposals are considered or decisions are made.

Why is this important?

Less than two years ago the Cowal and Bute communities made it clear that they strongly opposed the closure or Struan Lodge and Thomson Court respectively. It is simply immoral, unethical and unthinkable that vulnerable elderly residents and their families should have to be put through this cruel and stressful process once again. Our health and care services must be kept in public ownership for allmif us now and in future.
Argyll and Bute.

Dear Friends,

Thank you for signing the petition Save Struan Lodge. I am declaring victory and ending this short petition given the news of another IJB u turn on these important issues. Every course of action that voices concern and raises awareness of proposals concerning OUR health and care services, no matter the scale, helps I believe. It is clearly extremely important that we remain vigilant as a community to the future clandestine actions of the IJB but until the next chapter, well done and thank you for your support.
