Stop exorbitant pay rises for top Newcastle upon Tyne Council Officials

Stop the implementation of exorbitant pay rises for the top officials on the city council which will see their wages rise by up £24000 and cost the council tens of thousands of pounds.

Why is this important?

At a time when employees are being made redundant, having hours and working conditions lowered, when we are reducing and losing services it is absolutely disgraceful they should recieve this pay rise which could pay to keep several people in a job. They say they haven't reviewed the senior officials pay in recent years but the ordinary employees haven't had a a pay rise for years either. A small percentage pay rise to someone on a low wage won't cost much but at their already extortionate wages this will cost a fortune. A wage increase for the highest paid employees at this time is an outrage and we the undersigned ask the councillors to block this move.

This wage rise could pay for several people to be kept in work or keep essential services running. It is disgusting that while people are losing their jobs and services they will recieve more on what are already extortionate wages.
