Stop Kilsyth medical centre refusing Twechar patients

Acknowledge how long Twechar as a community has been with this practice and how important it is to the village to keep there health practice and GP .

Why is this important?

It is important as this the local practice for most of the village and has been for over 100 years also the community don’t have great access to travel to other practices it has been bad enough with the cuts to services vital to the community.

Dear Ms Tonagh,

Thank you for the response I received dated 25th June 2019 regarding my constituents concern that Kilsyth Medical Partnership has changed the area boundary requirements for patients accepted to the Practice.

I have recently been contacted again by my constituents from Twechar who remain concerned with this issue.

It has been highlighted to me by one of my constituents that they have a family member who has moved only fifty yards away from their previous address within Twechar and they have been asked to leave the practice. My constituent has highlighted to me that it seems unreasonable to request a patient leave the practice following such a small move in address.

In addition to this, it has been highlighted to me by my constituents that the nearest practice to Twechar is Kilsyth. The closest alternative to this would be Kirkintilloch and I am aware my constituents have concern that this would be a significantly further distance to travel while they are unwell. This is of particular concern to my disabled constituents who have highlighted to me the difficulty moving practice would cause to them.

It has also been highlighted to me by one of my constituents that they have been a patient of Kilsyth Medical Practice their whole life. I understand that they suffer ongoing health conditions and they are aware the practice has their full medical history and understands their conditions. Further to this, they fear that if they move a short distance away from their current home they will be required to leave this practice and join another practice that has no history of their medical conditions.

I would be grateful if you would investigate this matter and reconsider your decision to change the boundary Kilsyth Medical Practice accept patients from.

I look forward to your response in due course.

Yours,
