Stop sending pensioners from London to poverty strapped county of Cornwall
Dear Secretary of State for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs MP,
I am seeking clarification on the decision to relocate London residents to Livewest housing in Cornwall. Could you please explain why the local Cornish community should support this move and why London pensioners are being placed in Live West properties in Cornwall?
Additionally, can you elaborate on why local pensioners facing housing challenges in Cornwall are unable to access accommodation near their families? It raises concerns that the new older residents in Cornwall may encounter difficulties due to the area's high mortality rate and the limited NHS and care services available. The elderly may receive better and quicker treatment in London than in Cornwall.
I would like to understand if Livewest is acting independently without consulting Cornwall Council.
Yours sincerely,
A concerned resident of Cornwall.

Why is this important?
Cornwall cannot afford to serve as a satellite town for London anymore. Historically, we have utilized large Council Estates and housing for this purpose. Today, in 2022, Cornwall is facing a housing crisis, with residents receiving 33% less pay than the national average for services. Recent mortality rates from our primary hospital, Treliske, and Southwest Ambulance services have been alarmingly high. The region is experiencing long wait times, staff shortages, and limited facilities to accommodate the expanding population. In light of these challenges, how can Livewest justify this current situation?
