Dear Friends, Fellow Drinkers, Locals and Visitors… At the time of writing this update the total signatures gathered in this online petition, together with the hard copy petition that is available for those more comfortable voicing their opinion that way, has reached a total of around 300+ signatures. What a fantastic response so far and proof that this issue is indeed very close to many hearts. Fiona and I still seek to press this issue forward as far as possible and show, categorically, that we enjoy the Grapes just the way it is, thank you very much. The Grapes should remain a Wetherspoons public house, owned and run by JD Wetherspoons plc as a local pub. The Grapes belongs to us as our local just much as it does to Wetherspoons. The thought of what it will most likely become is too chilling to contemplate. Once again, thank you all so much for your continued support. Mark McE…

Stop the Grapes Public House, Sutton from being sold
We the undersigned seek to persuade JD Wetherspoon plc not to sell the Grapes and to keep and to continue to manage the Grapes Public House as an ongoing concern, as a Wetherspoons Pub.
Why is this important?
The Grapes is a friendly, local pub used by the local people of Sutton and the casual visitor. Folk can relax and enjoy a beverage, a beer and/or meal in a warm and welcoming setting. The mood of the Grapes is quite dissimilar to any other Wetherspoons pub in the surrounding area and particularly different to that of The Moon on the Hill, at the top of Sutton High Street, where they cater more for office workers by day and the younger reveller at night, especially on a Friday/Saturday evening either as a staging post before an evening of nightclubbing or to remain in that location for the evening. To the majority of those of us who regularly frequent the Grapes, it is considered a jewel in the Wetherspoons stable of pubs as a local pub and the notion of the Grapes being up for sale means a great deal to a great many of us.
The quality of food, general care and the condition, quality and choice of Real Ales not to mention the superb service from the staff given to regular patrons, casual drinkers and diners as well holiday makers and visitors to the township of Sutton makes for a very pleasant, quieter home from home and nice place to be.
For the residents of Sutton, the Grapes provides a key local hub and pleasant meeting place. We feel that the integrity of the Grapes and all that it means to exiting patrons would be best maintained now and in the future if it were to remain owned, run and managed by JD Wetherspoon plc.
Thank you for your time.
