Support for a safer cycle path between Woodbury And Woodbury Salterton
We want to show the local support for a vital cycle/shared use path between the villages of Woodbury and Woodbury Salterton where there is currently no suitable no/low traffic route
Why is this important?
Currently an strategic idea exists, but we need to show there is a local demand to raise the project's profile to change a strategic idea into construction.
Although a 30mph road exists between Woodbury and Woodbury Salterton, it is very busy, especially during rush hours with cars frequently speeding on the narrow lanes, making it not safe for cyclists, walkers or horse riders. With a schools, pubs and other attractions in each village, we should be encouraging trips by foot/bike/horse, rather then defaulting to the car.
The link would also help link up with the wider cycle network. The recently improved Rydon Lane link to the Exe Estuary cycle route and future plans to connect towards Crealy.
There is no fixed proposal for a route, but the indicative route would be to leave Woodbury by the allotments, heading north to Bond's Lane. An unused sunken lane exists, which is one possibility to upgrade, but no fixed route has been agreed.
Once on Bond's Lane, the route would follow the existing low traffic lane into Village Road in Woodbury Salterton.
