Ultrasound all newborns hips

I want the government to change there policy around newborn hip screening, I want it to be policy that all newborns have an ultrasound on there hips to check for hip dysplasia

Why is this important?

My daughter is 17months old and was diagnosed with DDH (developmental dysplasia of the hip) at 16months old, this was missed from her newborn checks, she has just had to have an operation on her hip called a closed reduction and is currently in a spica cast. She may have to have further surgery.

So many children and adults are diagnosed late and have to go though the pain of surgury and the frustration of being stuck in a cast, this could be avoided!! In European countries such as Germany, Austria and Switzerland all newborns undergo an ultrasound with in the first 5weeks and treatment if needed . They have a significantly lower number of late diagnosis. Why isn't this happening in the UK! Cost that's why. But if you weigh up the cost of treatment earlier on and the cost of surgery later in life you can gaurentee what's going to be cheaper.

Change is what we needed!!!
