Walkley Road: Stop The Chaos!

We have had enough of the conflict on Walkley Road.

It isn’t working for anyone. Not working for drivers who get boxed in and face abuse and road rage. Not working for kids walking to school trying to cross heavy traffic or with vehicles on pavements. And not working for residents with all the noise and threat from arguments and speeding.

No one wants to put other people in danger or cause stress. No one wants to be pressured into driving onto the pavement. But the layout of our streets is putting us into conflict with each other and making driving on, or crossing this and surrounding local streets difficult and dangerous.

This has to be fixed.

We call for immediate measures to safely manage the current traffic, such as temporary traffic lights and pavement bollards. This needs to happen now.

And then we call for Sheffield City Council to work with our community to design permanent solutions which enable us to use this street without being put into conflict - so no-one has to fear getting stuck while driving, and so it is safe for children accessing school.

Why is this important?

We need to be free to live and work on, move through, and deliver to Walkley Road safely and easily. We deserve streets which create community, not chaos.

Thanks for signing and supporting safe streets. We have continued to hear assurance from our politicians that progress will be made, but we need to see action. If you can please come along - we are holding a protest on Sat 30th Sept 11am-12 at Walkley Road. This will be part of a national day of actions for Safe Streets Now. We will gather on the pavement at Walkley Road - bring a sign! “Safe Streets Now!” Or “Stop The Chaos” or what you feel.
Join in and invite friends and neighbours! Thanks and see you there, Sam
