The Fairfield Halls is the biggest arts and entertainment complex in South London, staging over 500 events and shows per year as well as being a home to many local community groups and projects. With a rich history, a strong classical music programme, world-class comedy events, fantastic family shows and a rapidly developing contemporary music offering, this is a Croydon asset that needs and deserves nurturing and protection through the proposed redevelopment. The current Croydon Council proposal places huge risk on the Fairfield Halls NOT re-opening and carries significant financial cost to re-open and win back audiences, top quality shows and events. In summary: • Croydon will lose it’s ONLY viable music and arts venue for an unspecified period – not only is that a loss of live events coming to the Borough, but a lost opportunity for school children to engage and perform at the venue and will impact a large number of other community projects that utilise the venue. • The Council is entering into a risk/reward property development model to fund the project. If the risks materialise works may never be completed (leaving a “closed” sign permanently on the door of this great venue) and/or Council Tax and Business Rates payers will be left to foot the bill to the tune of £18m. However, the Council refuses to make these plans publically available. • The Council proposes shutting the Fairfield Halls when there is currently no detailed plan of the newly refurbished venue on the table, neither is there an operating model for it’s re-opening. • The timetable for delivering the Westfield shopping centre in Croydon has slipped now to 2020, despite Council claims that “this is the season for delivery”. We believe similar delays are likely with the Council’s proposal for Fairfield Halls’ redevelopment, resulting in closure period far in excess of the two years currently stipulated, increasing the risk of the venue never reopening. • There is no budget in place to re-launch the Fairfield after completion of the works. The Council wants the “new Fairfield Halls to rival the Southbank Centre”. An ambition we applaud (and assume this is a rivalry chosen as holding the Southbank Centre as a leading example of venue management), however to do so we firmly believe that: - Development should be phased (a bit like they are doing at the Southbank!). Operational ownership should remain independent to deliver the best for Croydon (a bit like at the Southbank). - The operational body should sit at the centre of the development project from inception to completion (kind of how the Southbank are managing things). - That an independent Fairfield Halls can thrive and deliver more to the community and local economy with proper planning and nurturing now rather than accept the Council rationale of “give it a polish and sell it to the highest bidder to operate”. Conclusion: There are far too many gaps in information, incomplete plans, omitted costs and lack of consultation for the Council proposal to hold any credence beyond being a concept paper. However, even with these risks, oversights and omissions they have approved this plan. I am a concerned parent. My 8 year old son Matthew attends Field End Flyers Community Cycle Club. This a fantastic cycling club that is based in facilities at Field End Junior School, Field End Road, Eastcote. The Club has access to a cycle track next to Field End School. This was built next to the school in land held by Hillingdon Council for the school. TFL helped to fund the building of the cycle track which is used by lots of children to cycle in safety away from the roads. Field End Flyers meets there every Saturday. There are coaches who are trained by British Cycling and volunteer their time to teach all children to cycle. Once they can cycle safely they join in the club activities. There are games and skills teaching sessions, all conducted in a purpose built environment. As a cycle club Field End Flyers attracts children from all backgrounds. We have children with disabilities and those with learning difficulties. The fact that the track is a safe and gated secure environment means that all children can enjoy using their own or borrowed bikes and trikes to join in. This club really is open to all and a fantastic part of our community. The club has a waiting list of over 60 children to join up and be taught to ride with the patient coaches using club owned balance bikes without pedals to build confidence and get a “feel” for cycling. My son joined over 3 years ago and is a very competent cyclist. He shows a good level of safety and control and this is all due to the fantastic coaching from Field End Flyers Community Cycle Club. The school has achieved the Beacon Award for Cycling, Healthy Schools Hillingdon Award and TFL Sustainable Travel Accredited and recognised Higher Standards Level. I feel that this is due to the success of the Cycle track which is also used by an after school club attached to the school for pupils only. 30 children attend 3 evenings a week. In fact the after school club is used to full capacity with the supervision from the British Cycling accredited Coaches who volunteer there. On Thursday 3rd December Field End Flyers received a letter from the Head Teacher of the Junior School, Ms M Halpin to say that the Cycle Club should cease. We have since been told we need to empty the site of our bicycles (for Children’s use at the Community and after school clubs) and associated cycling equipment. It will be disposed of if not moved by the deadline. We have been told that both clubs must close. We have been told that the track will be used to store building materials and there are plans to develop the area by the school BUT I have checked the Hillingdon Council website and there are no planning applications for the area. As you can imagine the Club which has over 90 members is worried that we will lose our home and a safe place for our children to cycle. Hillingdon encourages cycling as a sustainable mode of transport. Recently there has been widespread media attention on those cyclists who have been killed or injured on London’s roads. Our cycle club is preparing the safe adult cyclists of the future. It is also helping to get children outside and involved in a healthy pursuit, helping to extol the virtues of exercise. With child obesity and sedentary hobbies in favour among children it is wonderful that the children who attend the club are enjoying exercise, team building, safety training and friendships that will help them so much in their futures. I ask that you contact Ms Halpin to intercede on behalf of our Community Cycle Club as its loss would be a real blow to sport, cycling and the children themselves.

It's completely unacceptable that someone has, allegedly, been denied access to travel because of the colour of their skin. From Rosa Parks to Bristol's own Paul Stephenson, activists have struggled to ensure, and maintain, equal access to public transport for everyone regardless of their skin colour. Not tackling this head-on sets a dangerous precedent and will surely lead to more incidents of discrimination. National Express needs to address this serious allegation and win back public confidence. It should take this opportunity to become an industry leader and set an example in this time of tension when discrimination against Muslims is on the rise. Labour Councillor for Easton, Afzal Shah, said: “Have we really returned to days where people are kicked off buses because of the colour of skin, their appearance or religion? National Express has a lot of questions to answer. Yes, people who are behaving suspiciously on public transport should be challenged, but when someone is apparently asked to leave a bus because they are a Muslim carrying a bag, that is unacceptable and Islamophobic.” The allegations are serious and could amount to a criminal offence under the discrimination act. Portslade has suffered for many years from being a poor relation to other parts of Brighton and Hove. Yet it has a vibrant and loyal local community. Change might be coming to Portslade from outside in the form of the Joint Area Action Plans for the port area. Setting up a Heritage Centre in the southern part of Portslade would bring regeneration to Portslade from within the community. A Heritage Centre will cater to all sections of the community – school children, adults, and older people. It would create a community resource and shared space and it could bring visitors into Portslade thus helping to grow the local economy.

For those with neurological-developmental disorders, including mild autism and autism without a disability, there are no specialised community services for adults with such disabilities. Social workers and doctors are dealing with those with more mild to moderate learning and neurological-developmental, including asperger syndrome and autism without a learning disability, but have no specialist resources, therapy, or idea on how to support these specific group of adults. I want all local social services and NHS teams through England and in all counties to give adults with autism and asperger syndrome an allocated social worker or doctor that is specifically specialised in long-term developmental disorders. But many people with this disabilities are ignored, given the wrong support, or are forgotton. So the all the government, social services, and MP's needs to implement specialised community teams for adults with long-term and mild to moderate developmental disorders, with specialised social workers, psychiatrists, and advocacy teams. At the moment, alot of high-functioning autistic adults get classed as having more emotional or mental problems, if they do not have a learning disability label on top of their autistic diagnosis - but many autistic adults are not mentally ill, they have a neurological developmental disorder. So the government needs to stop throwing autistic adults into the mental health sector teams and start opening up specialised teams through out the UK that only deal with autism related disorders, including asperger syndrome.. Some areas do have adult clinics for asperger syndrome and mild autism sufferers, but many areas don't - Derbyshire, as I know, do not offer specialised social services workers or NHS staff to adults with asperger syndrome. You can get diagnosed with asperger syndrome now, in Derbyshire, for example...but there are not specialised teams available, so some of us with asperger syndrome get allocated into the mental health system which is unfair, and this means we don't get the proper treatment.. So all local authorities needs to now step up and make it law that all counties must have specialised community teams through the UK and not just in certain parts of the country. So many adults with autism and asperger syndrome, especially those that cannot access learning disability teams, are being left out and not receiving adequate long-term support from their local nhs and social services team. Many autistic and asperger syndrome syndrome adults need more long-term and specialised support, in order to gain the community support that they deserve. This will mean that adults with asperger syndrome and high-functioning autism could access proper treatment and social care. If we could have proper social care teams and NHS clinics that offer specialised support tailored around all areas of the UK, then we could get the right to lead a normal and healthy life. This will improve the quality of families, adults affected with asperger syndrome and autism, and any money can be put into getting adults with aspergers/autism into a good cause.

The area of concern has played host to a FunFair that has a long and glowing reputation for providing not only recreation for children but also has in the past raised money for the war effort and even managed to purchase a Spitfire Fighter for the War effort. Alongside the Fair can be found the Cricket pitch and Pavilion which is in use during the Cricket season and is very much a part of Village life. Had the Council had the necessary foresight they would have proposed to build the Centre on land especially purchased for this venture i.e. Naishes field across the road from the NNR site and out of harms way. There are several options available on this site for developing the Centre including one option that would utilise an underpass to keep visitors away from crossing Swincoate road. Bear in mind the Council in it's infinite wisdom failed to get the last centre built without causing serious problems even to the extent of building over the roots of several Veteran Oak Trees, at least one has since died. They also failed to take account of disabled persons and access to the forest and that even today have failed to rectify matters. This petition was sent to Wellingborough Council who are now considering options, however, we wish to keep up the pressure not to make changes to this children's play equipment. Please keep signing. It is wrong that one person moving into the area almost 5 years after the children's play area was established can remove something that many children enjoy over the summer. The park is adjacent to a busy pathway linking one of the town's main car parks to the town centre and there are a number of lively pubs with live music in the vicinity and a busy main road with heavy traffic. It is unfair to pick on the gentle sounds of the children's toys in a safe walled park garden when so much other noise pollution exist. Sound cushions have been part of the play area at Croyland Gardens in Wellingborough since it was installed in 2011. When it was designed, members of the working party wanted the play area to be as interactive as possible so four sound cushions were incorporated in the design. But after planning permission was granted in 2012 to convert the Avon House building from offices to flats, a noise complaint made by a resident in May this year has prompted Wellingborough Council to investigate. Environmental protection officers looked into the complaint and were concerned that the noise levels being produced by the stepping stones were ‘loud and very tonal.’ ... Depriving the local community of an amazing centre piece to the park and is disrespectful as its a memorial to the man who donated the land in the first place to the town so we could have a park . We want our kids to see it in its working glory like we did years ago.. History..... Dane Park was previously farmland and a great local resident, John Woodward, purchased it at an auction in 1895. Mr Woodward presented the land to the inhabitants of Margate to form the park, together with additional land for forming and widening the surrounding roads and six acres of building land on the south west side of the park, with the proceeds derived from the sale to be devoted towards the expenses of the park. Dane Park was opened by the Lord Mayor of London on June 1, 1898. Dane Park had a substantial lake, rustic bridges, swans and peacocks, refreshment rooms and a bandstand. The fountain was erected by the corporation of Margate as a memorial to the late John Woodward, who was a native of Margate and a great generous man! . The lake has been filled in and the Fountain shut down and lost to the town . Shame this memorial to an enormous gesture to the town has been turned into a flower pot !! . So disrespectful to a great man...

The proposals were developed in consultation with the local community, prioritising feedback from rough sleepers at the group's weekly Love Kitchen. Love Activists hope to gather 1250 signatures to force the council to debate the proposals at a full council meeting. Reasoning/Rationale: 1. In May, the Supreme Court ruled that when local authorities make vulnerability assessments, a 'homeless person' should be compared with an 'ordinary person who is at risk of becoming homeless'. There is no doubt that any homeless person is 'significantly more vulnerable' than an ordinary person, therefore everybody living on the street should be assessed as being in priority need. The judgement also made it clear that while councils are often under huge financial strain, this must not be used as an excuse for avoiding their legal duties. To guarantee duty of care and legal obligations are met, all local authorities must provide permanent housing for anybody living on the streets. 2. Housing first pilot project had a 70% success rate in Brighton & Hove - helping 7 out of 10 people with high support needs into accommodation. 3. Extended winter provision: additional services provided over a period of time e.g. every night from November to March. If the material resources exist to provide shelter from a severe weather emergency, economic arguments against keeping the shelters open are not as powerful as the humanitarian ones for opening them. (Copy & pasted from 'Homeless Link') Humanitarian Response: SWEP should be applied responsibly to prevent death at all times; 3 consecutive nights at zero or below is the minimum requirement. Local authorities should consider factors such as wet weather and wind chill, snow coverage and duration of extreme weather when looking at provision. Preventing deaths on the streets is the aim of the protocol, so if this demands more beds and a longer response the local authority should do everything it can to prevent harm to individuals. Economics cannot change the weather any more than economics can determine people's relative vulnerability to each other. 4. It doesn't have to be severely wet to have a severe impact if you're sleeping on the streets. Severely windy, wet weather is an emergency, as is extremely hot, dry weather. Homeless Link offers advice and guidance to BHT, St Mungo's and Brighton & Hove City Council. Currently their minimum definition of severe weather is when the temperature drops below zero for three consecutive nights. Local authorities should proactively identify any weather that could increase the risk of serious harm to people sleeping rough and put measures in place to minimise this. This includes extreme cold, wind and rain. It is important not to presume when, or in what form, severe weather will occur. Sleeping rough is never comfortable, but the suffering is exacerbated by all elements It doesn't have to be severely wet to have a severe impact if you're sleeping on the streets. No single authority can successfully move to implement all of these measures, because if they 'move first', their service capacity would risk being overwhelmed by people migrating to that local authority. Krusher Joule the living legend first came to the public's attention in 1982 when he became Art Director of the then Bible of Heavy Metal magazine Kerrang!.  Before that he was known as Steve Joule who had worked as a freelance designer in the music industry since 1976 producing work for the likes of Motorhead, Sammy Hagar, Uriah Heep, Gamma, Girlschool, Blondie and The Sex Pistols.  He has designed album sleeves for Hawkwind 'Live ’79', Gary Moore 'Dirty Fingers' and 'Live at the Marquee', Iron Maiden 'Live After Death', Ozzy Osbourne 'Diary of a Madman', 'Speak of the Devil' and 'Bark at the Moon', Japan and Black Sabbath 'Born Again' which apparently Ian Gillan, the then vocalist with the band was quoted as saying; “I took one look at the cover and puked!”, whilst both Deicide’s Glenn Benton and Soulfly’s Max Cavalera have claimed it to be their favourite album sleeve of all time.  Also whilst still working for Kerrang! Krusher designed a series of official biography books including Iron Maiden’s 'Running Free', Motley Crue’s 'The First Five Years' and Twisted Sister’s 'The First Official Book' and not forgetting tour programmes for AC/DC, Deep Purple, Robert Plant, Anthrax, Accept and Europe.  His work has also included designing and editing the official Donington 'Monsters of Rock' programmes since 1986 and he has also compered and DJ’ed the festival in 1994, ’95 and ’96.  In 1989 Krusher was offered his own radio rock show, 'Krusher’s Metal Mayhem' by the BBC which he presented on Greater London Radio. He was also approached to host and DJ the rock night at the Hippodrome club in the heart of London’s West End.  It was a club night that would regularly see eighteen hundred people crowd into the venue where they would be treated to impromptu live performances by the likes of Bon Jovi, Skid Row and Motorhead who all frequented the club on a regular basis as did Metallica, Motley Crue and Iron Maiden or whichever rock band was passing through town that week. Unfortunately like all good things both the radio show and the club came to an end, but not before becoming landmarks in the history of London rock.  In 1992 Krusher became co-presenter along with his Jack Russell terrier Bullseye of 'Raw Power' the UK’s only terrestrial TV rock show and voted best TV show in the Kerrang! Readers poll in both 1992 and ’93.  In 1994 the show changed its name to 'Noisy Mothers' a name which Krusher hated, always believing it should have been called 'Watch with Motherf****r' but which again was voted best TV show by Kerrang! and Metal Hammer readers for the next two years. Sadly Christmas 1995 saw the last ever 'Noisy Mothers' broadcast, the powers that be in TV land deciding that rock was a dying industry and therefore warranted no place on our TV screens.
