• Statue of Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev outside Royal Opera House
Margot was Britain's greatest ever ballerina and Rudolf changed the role of men in ballet in the west forever. Their unlikely partnership was the greatest in ballet's history and inspired many to take up ballet and brought pleasure to millions. It made Britain's Royal Ballet the greatest ballet company in the world after the Bolshoi and the Kirov. It is a disgrace that there is no memorial to these wonderful dancers and their partnership. This should be changed in time for the centenary celebrations of Margot's birth (18 May 1919).

  • No Pub In Our Park
So far a residents association has collected 700 signatures from the immediate area and it is necessary to escalate this to allow a greater response to this ill-advised proposal by a Council that has no interest in listening to its residents.

  • Stop Children's Centre and Nursery Cuts in Cambridgeshire
These centres provide crucial universal and targeted support for parents, carers and young children. This withdrawal of funding will cause irreparable damage to the service, increase risk and vulnerability across the county, and mark a reversal of the 'Every Child Matters' agenda which is striving to eradicate inequality for under 5’s.

  • SAY NO TO CHILDCARE AGENCIES
You are not seemingly acting in the best interest of children in childcare if you bulldoze your ideas through without any thought of the impact on small business and the children they care for. You wonder why there is a downfall in people wanting to become childminders? Well is it any surprise when you are going out of your way to try to put them out of business and make life so difficult with paperwork? Perhaps you should be looking at the real reasons there will be a shortfall in childcare professionals!

  • Help male rape survivors
This is important to me, because there's a lack of awareness that men can get raped or sexually assaulted despite the recent male rape attack in Bristol. According to UK charity Mankind 1 in 29 have reported being sexually assaulted and 1 in 20 have been affected by sexual violence. There's a huge denial that male rape exists, rooted in mistaken ideas that 'real' men can fight off an attacker, women cannot rape men, and male rape only happens in prison. These mistaken beliefs make it hard for male survivors to come forward, because they are left with feelings of shame, confusion and self blame for what happened. That's why we need the council and police to publicly recognise male rape to make it easier for male rape survivors to get the help they need and to report the crime.

  • Save Burghead Library
Our library is only open 11 hours per week and costs a mere £3-50 per head p.a. to operate. We rely on it heavily for books, internet access and as a meeting place for various town groups. This is particularly true of disadvantaged groups, especially the disabled and those without a car,. Of the 8 libraries due to close in Scotland 7 are in Moray. Cutting such a life-line service may precipitate further economic decline in a town which has lost its fishing industry.

  • Have an option to vote for a cause on each lottery ticket.
I don't do the lottery because of some of the decisions on where the money goes. If I was able to choose then I would be more willing to buy a ticket. £30,000 to Manchester United, one of the worlds richest clubs, to pay for their staff to go to the gym. £75,000,000 to the Royal Opera House who won't even display a plaque acknowledging the lottery funding because its too tacky. £12,000,000 given to Conservative MP (at the time) Winston Churchill for the Churchill papers.

  • Stop Earl's Court Scheme
At £8 billion, the Earl's Court redevelopment scheme is the largest in the world outside of China. It challenges the Government's committment to the Big Society and Localism and looks set to repeat the mistakes of property speculation that busted the Western economies. The campaign to save the Exhibition Centres, the rail depot and engineering works and the two council estates is on the front line battling to champion democracy and community in the face of rampant prfiteering by tax-havenbed entitiers at the expense of the poor, jobs and our international trade. The petition wording explains further.

  • Keep libraries open in Brent and in the UK
Libraries is an essential public service for the community/society, especially Brent is one of the most deprive area in London/the UK. ● Library is for the whole community (children, adult, elderly, disable people and for different culture and religions…). Library is the area which let people to gather and have more knowledge about the community/UK/world, study/self study and can join other activity. And ● If you have doubt about things, you have someone/staff near you. Library make you don’t feel isolation from the community/people and less worry about things if you have doubt on them. ● Library is good for the community, Councils close local libraries; it is inconvenience for people and isolate them, especially in Labour councils run/create deprived area. Children, elderly, disable people….are difficult to go any further and some can’t/don’t go any further as well - Culture issue….and save money for living.  !!! Labour council goal is to make people become more stupid, have no knowledge themselves for the community, the UK, the world. And make them dependent on welfare system for easy to control the area. !!! Labour council/government are often emphasizes diversity country/borough and give different kind of benefit and housing for the people they need. It is just for inner circle. For example: I experience and know deeply about libraries in Brent and in London, and their public service and welfare system… in Brent Council.

  • Protect Derby Carers' Services
Carers usually carry on looking after other(s) until they drop. Carers services help stave off this for very modest sums. If they cannot care as they are doing, the financial costs fall on the NHS, Derby council etc. Carers are twice as likely to go to their GP's as the general population. Carers are adults as well as children and it's estimated there are 5,000 of them just in Derby. We need your help to demonstrate the community supports this campaign by 4th January when the Derby City Consultation closes.
