UK Asylum for Chechnya's gay menAround 100 gay men in Chechnya, Russia, have been rounded up and tortured, seemingly on account of being gay. This is a violation of Article 14 of the European Convention of Human Rights - the right to freedom from discrimination on account of something uncontrollable. It is my firm belief that the UK should follow the example of Lithuania, whose foreign minister has granted asylum to two queer men from Chechnya, who fear for their lives. The U.S., under the Trump administration, has outright rejected the idea. We do not have to follow their lead. Please sign to show your support for the gay and bisexual in danger in Chechnya.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Tionenji Lishomwa

Stop Animal crueltyIt's important to acknowledge that animals should be treated equally and should not be put through some of the horrendous things mankind do. Animals can suffer, feel pain, feel love and feel scared they are just like you an I, except we choose to treat them as though they are below us and have no rights. This is totally and utterly wrong we should be the compassionate beings that we are supposed to be, we should treat these animals with love and respect. Your desires and what you want should never be put first if it means putting something in harm and causing suffering; this is what I call selfish. You don't get to say it's worth it because all you had to do was buy it, that animal would have spent most of its life confined without freedom; freedom to be with their family, freedom to run, freedom to be an animal and then only to have its short life end. What's a life if don't get to live it ?40 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Zoe Brown

Bin the Brown Bin Charge / TaxThis decision hasn't been thoroughly thought through and has sparked a mass outcry on any posts advertising this move by Highland Council. Highland Council have slapped a 3% increase on council tax bands A to H and this stealth tax of £30 will affect the worst off who will have to choices, and be left with nowhere to put their garden waste which is currently uplifted. I know an elderly person in our neighbourhood, with no transport but a large garden. Where will he put his grass clippings? He'll be forced to send them to landfill as he can't afford the extra charge! Highland Council also haven't considered the wider community impact with many local people using the bin to remove Council grass clippings, leaves, bushes and branches that would normally be left on the streets of communities. What will the streets look like when this is impemented and people no longer have good will towards the council. This goes further, flytipping will increase as people try to rid themselves of items they previously placed in a bin. Increased landfill charges will soon put a dent in the estimated £660,000 the council set out to make, which is based on 22,000 people taking up this service. Based on social media response, the council may be doing well if they make half this figure. All the old bins will be dumped in neighbourhoods and ultimately end up increasing the space we consume in landfill - there will be little to no other use for the hundreds not required. Should the council change tack in future, what will he financial and impact on our plant to manufacture hundreds of new bins? The service will operate as before, teams visiting each street in diesel operated waste trucks. Instead of making many collections, a few per street if they are lucky? These inefficiencies are a means to an end but to have these vehicles polluting our streets for a few bins is counterproductive to climate change. Each person to opt in will receive a sticker for their bin. The admin associated with this entire idea will be even more of a drain on the already under resourced council. There are many more arguments as to why this is ludicrous, you only need to look at Highland Council social media to see the upset this had caused and the wave of unrest as this charge is lumped on top of the already increasing taxes we pay. My worry is that these charges are the thin end of the wedge. Once people start paying for a brown bin collection, what will be introduced next year to 'balance the books'. Please resist these charges and sign this petition to send a strong message that this is unacceptable and will hit those that can't afford it worst! Everyone deserves a place to live, a tidy green space to enjoy and refuse collections to keep their space and streets tidy.11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by A P

Car TaxThis will allow people on low in come to change there tax on a car without having to purchase more tax than they need to, as it is if you change your car 2 weeks into the month I.E due to right offs you have to pay for 2 weeks of the month on tax for the new car that you have all ready paid for. By allowing people to change there tax to a different car then they will not be charged for tax that was never needed as they did not have that car at that time.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by James Matthews

End Homelessness in the UK130,000 people a year in England alone are asking for help regarding homelessness (Shelter, 2017). Homelessness is a matter of social injustice not just personal responsibility, everybody in Britain has a right to accommodation, it is not just a lack of shelter, it involves a deprivation over a number of dimensions, lack of physical and mental comfort, lack of privacy, lack of rootedness in the world and a lack of purpose in life (Somerville, 2013). Even in affordable social housing there is now an uncertainty in security, resulting in an increase in rough sleepers by 102% since 2010. The reason for homelessness is simple, not enough housing, not enough social housing, the ridiculous peak in house prices and the uncertainty of short hold tenancy in private sector housing. This needs to be stopped, we need to stop allowing housing associations and landlords putting vulnerable people out on the streets. Most of us are one wage slip away from being on the streets so help us today to change the lives of thousands of people. Sign today, save tomorrow. Get rid of the 'Bedroom Tax' cut to Housing Benefits! These cuts are unfair and further disadvantage people who are in a position of need. Approximately 660,000 UK social housing residents have been impacted by the cuts (Fullfact, 2013). This has had significant negative impacts on lives across the UK, leaving thousands of people desperately struggling to pay rent and make ends meet. Hundreds of thousands of residents have gotten into rent arrears, resorted to food banks, and been kicked out of homes they have lived in their whole lives. This is drastically immoral and WRONG. Sign the petition to help us rid the unfair Bedroom Tax!46 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Rachel Coates

Change the disabled logoIt is mortifying to be judged by people when you use disabled spots if your disability is not visible. There are stories of abusive notes being left on people's cars, which is a huge knock to their self confidence, which is often already low. The change of logo would symbolism a inclusive acknowledgment of all disabilities.27 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Barbara Sandland

Change the Day for holding elections in the UK from Thursdays to SaturdaysHundreds of primary schools are closed each year to cater for local elections. In addition, thousands are closed to cater for general elections and referendums. Other countries hold their elections on Saturdays. A recent legal precedence ruled that a parent could not remove a child from school to go on holiday, but local authorities are regularly forced to close schools to facilitate elections.8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jed Hillary

It's not right or fair and every wor king adult deserves to be paid a wage that they can afford to live on.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by John Haines

No More Diesel Ice-Cream Vans Poisoning Our ChildrenBecause of their height, a small child, when waiting in line for their summer treat, will often be subjected to several minutes of poisonous gas from a diesel or petrol engine. Ice-cream vans tend to station themselves in parks and near playgrounds, meaning the health and safety of all children in the vicinity is compromised. We wouldn't allow a lorry to park next to a group of children and keep their engine running for hours on end, so why do we accept it from an ice-cream van? Several boroughs already insist on using electric vehicles to sell ice-cream in parks. We are calling for a blanket ban of diesel powered ice-cream vans in all parks and outside our homes. This is better for the whole community, including those selling those delicious 99s.37 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Simon Wallfisch

Make housing developers be transparent in ManchesterCurrent planning law states that if a developer will make less than 20% profit on a new development, they can ignore a council's regulations about building affordable and social housing. Leaked documents from several developers have shown that the maths they use to work out their profit margins are purposefully misleading, allowing them to claim they will make less than 20% profit on a development by undervaluing the prices of the houses they will sell and over-costing the labour. To combat this Islington, Greenwich, Lambeth and Bristol councils have introduced a policy that forces developers "viability assessments" to be made public. By bringing these dodgy maths into the public domain, Councils, campaigning groups and individuals will be able to hold developers to account and force them to use more honest maths.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Barry McAtarsney

Merlin - stop making it impossible for our Autistic childrenMerlin are now essentially discriminating against families with Autistic children by expecting them to provide even more proof of their child's disability and are being ignorant to their disability. Private letters from doctors need to be paid for as well. Lastly, the NHS, doctors and the child mental health teams that work with Autistic children and their families are already massively overworked and under funded. They should not now be having to write private letters to theme parks clarifying information that was part of a long winded diagnosis.25 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Leila Jackson
