• Stop the discrimination of homosexual people at the NHS blood and transplant.
Lives are at risk by not letting people donate who can donate. Every drop counts, even if it extends a life by just a few years. When a couple is together for a year, they can get a aids test done and let that result be the green or red light for donations. There is a higher risk in heterosexual couples who participate in "dogging" , if blood stocks are that low as they claim it is, every drop of blood counts. If this works then another campaign can be tagged on this one to allow people donating after ten years after the transfusion date. The symptoms should show by then to proof you have it or not.

  • Improve disabled access in Portsmouth
So that wheelchair/Frame/Scooter users can travel around the beautiful city easily and hassle free. Personally as a young wheelchair user living in Portsmouth I know how hard it can be to get around the city and into buildings without having to take longer routes or going into the back entrances of buildings due to lack of disabled access.

  • Apple, are you corrupt to the core?
The corporate world needs to be told that they profit from us plenty without needing to steal from us. As well as this petition, I suggest everybody goes into an apple shop and talk with the helpful sales staff about their products. Then ask them about the unpaid taxes and inform them you won't be buying anymore until THEIR company does the right thing. Each worker is a shareholder after all, so they have power and they are all profiting from the dodgy dealings.

  • stop discrimination against dyslexic nurses
Other nurses working with Dyslexic nurses should have training to give them an understanding of what it is like. More support and help. If nursing is a truly caring profession then why are they discriminating against dyslexic nurses. I have contacted the first minister Nicola Sturgeon to stop the unfair treatment that is given to dyslexic nurses. I would like others to join me, to campaign. I was ridiculed and humiliated at school and now I have had the same treatment from the NHS Lanarkshire. Dyslexic nurses self monitor more than other nurses and are able to develop positive strategies to overcome the challenges that present them. There needs to be more training for the other nurse to be given an understanding what it is like to be dyslexic. I was a good nurse that had no competence issues, until I told a ward manager I thought I was dyslexic and then the problems started. I have being discriminated against and told I was a risk to patients, the NHS Lanarkshire do not what Dyslexic nurses. I was told that I showed no insight into the risk I was to patient because I did not tell them I was Dyslexic, I had not been diagnosed at this time. I have left nursing because of the way I have been treated, but will campaign to help others. I think Dyslexic nurses make good nurses, but it is the ignorance of other that cause the problem. I would like others to join my campaign, we have a right to be treated fairly.

  • Solidarity with Nottinghamshire homeless
Nottinghamshire council and the police should be offering practical and emotional support to the most vulnerable to help get them back on their feet. Even if someone does have an addiction they should still be given 100 % support as it is an illness and should be treated as such, getting them the right help needed rather than isolating them further.

  • Extend the Payment Deadline for Registered Labour Supporters
We understand that £25 is a fee that better enables the Party to cover its costs. However, the scale of the increase paired with the unexpectedly short deadline has inadvertently closed this option for the least fortunate in our society, whom the Labour Party exists to defend. An extension until 8 August gives: - People an additional two weeks in which to save the money - Assurance that those receiving Jobseekers' Allowance or other statuary benefits will have received at least one payment before the deadline - An increased likelihood that those on a contract of unfixed hours will have had undertaken paid work before the deadline - The ability for people to wait until after the end of the month, a common payday throughout the UK - More time to adjust personal budgets to better account for the expense We call on the Labour Party to assist with minimising the impact of poverty on this democratic process whilst still ensuring it is in a position to cover the costs of running the Registered Supporter scheme.

  • Call for a three option referendum in the Brexit leave deal. Accept/decline/stay
This is important as many voters feel mislead after the referendum. This will give the whole of the UK time to understand what is really on offer at the end of negotiations. Will immigration be reduced, how much money will we really have available after withdrawal. This will ensure Brexit negotiations will focus on what has been promised, and show the voters what is on offer.

  • Private and State: Make Education Spending Fair
It is utterly immoral that one child can have more spent on their education in one year (£24000 at the most expensive public schools for non-boarding pupils) than is spent on another child for the whole of their secondary education (it can be as little as £4000 a year). I went to one of those expensive schools (albeit back in the 1970s) and have worked all my professional life in the state system. The unfairness of a society in which one school can barely fix a roof while another is busy putting in a second theatre or an olympic swimming pool. Why on earth do we tolerate it? It doesn't have to be this way. Finland, one of the top performing education systems in the world, has no private schools at all. For many successful systems private schooling is very unusual. We may not be able to shut private schools, but who could resist the moral case for a system where all children had the same money spent on them, to give them all the same start in life?

  • Baffled by BAFTA: Equal recognition for female actors
After watching the awards ceremony last night, it struck me that it was not as reflective of our society as it could be, and conveyed a potentially misleading message to young women growing up in today's society. With the pinnacle award of the night being the best Actor and the best female Actor always playing second fiddle - it really compounds the message that women are second rate in the acting stakes.

  • David Cameron initiate an official enquiry into Islamophobia in the London Mayoral Election
The election has been marred by Islamophobic claims made against the Labour Candidate for The London Mayoral Election. This has brought British Democracy into disrepute and will exacerbate distrust in and disillusionment with the electoral system and UK Government by both Islamic people and other minorities. This sets a dangerous precedent for future elections, will divide society further, will increase a sense amongst British minorities that they cannot expect fair and just treatment from British Government and reduce the sense amongst many that there is any point in engaging in democracy. It may in addition increase the risk of instability in The UK.

  • Petition for a Community Governance Review
The current parish boundaries were drawn up long before Beverley had a building boom, which saw the settlement grow into the continuous built-up area we now know. The separation into three parish authorities is now outdated, and no longer reflects the community. It also means that some residents living in Beverley, specifically to the North and the South of Beverley, do not have a say on Beverley Town Council because they belong to Molescroft Parish and Woodmansey Parish. In other words, the current community governance arrangements hinder effective local government. Residents on Lincoln Way and the surrounding area are unlikely to consider themselves as living in Woodmansey. Moreover, residents have expressed concern that their interests are not properly represented on Woodmansey Parish, as exemplified in said parish council’s decision to commission a Neighbourhood Plan that covers only the village itself. As for Molescroft, it forms part of Beverley, and its residents ought to have a say on the Town Council; however, this cannot happen whilst there is a separate Molescroft Parish Council. To sum up, the current community governance arrangements hinder community cohesion and effective local government by artificially splitting the town of Beverley into three parts. The above recommendations · improve community engagement · bring communities closer together · create better local democracy · result in more efficient delivery of local services We are, therefore, asking East Riding of Yorkshire Council to undertake a community governance review to ensure that community governance arrangements reflect local identities and facilitate effective and convenient local government.

  • Don't cut vital support for disabled people in West Lancashire
George Osborne has announced plans to take £70 a week away from thousands of people with disabilities, by cutting Personal Independence Payments (PIP). For many of us, this will mean losing the crucial support which enables us to get out of the house. Many people in our area would be hit hard by this cut. This petition calls on our local MP to do all they can to stop this cruel and unfair plan. Please, show your support for local people with disabilities and help stop the cuts to PIP.
