• MENTAL HEALTH PROVISION IN DERBYSHIRE
Mental Health services are not only being cut but actually being closed down . As a long term sufferer of mental health conditions both as a client and as a volunteer the situation is untenable . The give just a few examples Due to funding cuts from Central Government Derby Steps Rethink Mental illness funding cuts DORA chesterfield to close March 2017 The Croft . Ripley Rethink (decision from CCG Jan 21st Red Cross Dementia Care/ MH Alfreton/Belper/ Ilkeston/ Long Eaton (been volunteer for seven years) Cease operations March 2017 MHAG mental Health Action Group (which covers Amber Valley) Sept 2017 Moneywise CAB in the community Amber Valley through Derby CAB for MH scrapped Amber Trust P3 / Ripley floating support cut from 2 years to 9 months etc Probably more to follow Where are people to go ? To interact in a safe environment etc ., See Derbyshire Healthwatch Report on Crisis Care just published. "There is a massive increase in admissions to A& E by mental health sufferers as I'm sure you have heard/seen on TV and Radio .. Surely by cutting these services it makes the situation worse ?"The Mental Health Action Group is led by people living with a mental health condition who rely on services in the community to help them stay well. At a time when the demand for mental health services has never been greater, vulnerable people are facing cuts in Derbyshire on an unprecedented scale. All manner of support services, money advice services, advocacy services, housing support services are being scaled down. It is dangerous to underestimate the cumulative effect of this on so many individuals and families. The gap between need and provision is widening all the time and people will disappear through that gap. How can we allow this to happen when the impact of mental illness has never been so well recognised nor the need to improve mental health care so well acknowledged?" supporting statement from the MENTAL HEALTH ACTION GROUP DERBY RESTORE THESE SERVICES NOW

  • Stop plans to close Clacton on Sea's Minor Injuries Unit
North East Essex CCG are trying to shut down the Minor Injuries Unit which is situated at Clacton Hospital. This would mean that patients wanting to see a doctor, or needing urgent medical care, would have to travel to Colchester. Clacton's population is increasing and health services in the town are already suffering. GPs surgeries are not able to cope with their workload now, it is unthinkable that we may now lose the valuable service that our Minor Injuries Unit provides. This area has a large elderly population along with a large percentage of vulnerable people with mental health issues. It is not acceptable that elderly and vulnerable people have to travel to Colchester. Many people do not have their own transport and would not be able to afford to take public transport to Colchester to see a doctor. We have to stop this closure! • Stop Morrisons encouraging childhood obesity
It is hard enough to get children to understand the health risks of high sugar foods without Morrisons trying to persuade children that these cereals are ones that they SHOULD have for breakfast. Morrisons should take a more responsible attitude to the health of the nations children.

  • Save Tempest Wood
I planted this wood at the edge of Brampton Ash, near Market Harborough 6 years ago and it is thriving with wildlife. Some trees are now 30 foot high and there are field mice, hares, rabbits, badgers, hawks and Muntjac. It may be a small wood, but it is a living, precious eco system that should be protected at a time when every tree counts. Please save Tempest Wood. Thank you.

  • Building local social housing for older people
New developments are mostly aimed at younger families and couples, and retirement developments are for purchase. Small scale local social housing for older folk would allow them to stay in their communities and keep their local support network. Please support this petition.

  • Save Didcot's Amenities and Green Spaces on Ladygrove!
After signing this petition please formally object via http://didcot.space (will redirect you to the Garden Town plan page) or send an email to [email protected] Comments can be as short or long as you like - just make it clear you object to building on Ladygrove Park. Consultation on these proposals has been extended to 28th February, so please do it now. Thank you! There are plans for 15,000 new houses to be built in Didcot as part of the "Didcot Garden Town" project. This is more than those planned for Bicester Garden Town, recently described as a "dog's breakfast" with ecologically important flower rich meadows being lost to housing. Proposals for Didcot have been announced that are WORSE than first feared. They include building technical office space and accommodation over roughly half of the Ladygrove recreation ground and play park. The remnants would be developed such that there would be no substantial level open green space for casual sports or recreation. A new road cutting across the play park and flats on the play park, opposite the Willowbrook and behind the football club with no additional parking serve to top of this awful proposal. The current morning congestion around the primary school would be intolerable. Our facilities, green spaces and paths integral to our local parkrun are threatened. You can see the briefings here : https://didcotgardentown.commonplace.is/news/2017/01/20/stakeholder-representative-group-presentation-19-january-2017 Campaigners in Bicester have been to court twice to try to protect their environment. If we are to protect our green spaces and amenities the time to act is now, by obtaining a simple undertaking from the project team before their plans are fully formed. If you want to save them please sign this petition and share it with your friends. Thank you! (You can see the Ladygrove areas initially marked out for development on the final pages of these two official downloads published by the Didcot Garden Town planners http://www.southoxon.gov.uk/node/18434 and this http://www.southoxon.gov.uk/node/18447 )

  • No child and family should be excluded from the opportunity to survive
We as family of Wali Dar are presenting this petition in an attempt to support our son who is diagnosis of Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Learning ability. Wali is suffering from frequent flashbacks to the violence, terror, kidnapping and shooting which happened to him and his family especially his father back in his home country Pakistan. Wali is currently living in United Kingdom and receiving continues help and support of his family who he has full trust. Also, he is receiving high quality supports from NHS mental health services, Barnardo’s disability and inclusion support service, Gateshead Council and his school to deal with stress, anxiety and unforgettable traumatic events that has happened to him. Specialists clearly stated that Wali is a vulnerable young man who finds social interactions very difficult and unable to cope well with changes. Wali is unable to eradicate the shocking experiences of violence and life threatening danger back in Pakistan. Wali is currently receiving EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) treatments but he is yet full of fear to re-experience those traumas. Wali’s family are very worry and concern what will happen to Wali if he will not have opportunity to stay in the UK. His supporters and medical team agree that, if he finds out that he has to go back to Pakistan; this change will raise the severity of his autism. This will happen due to the negative opinion he already has from such environment, what he already experienced and lack of support and professionalism in Pakistan. Wali as a young man has a long way ahead in his life. Witnessing such horrific incidents in childhood is very hard to deal with which requires safe environment, special support and family emotional care and support. Wali should be given the opportunity that other disable children have, to obtain confidence and move towards a better future. If he stays away from Pakistan, where he originally experiences the life threatening dangers, and if he keeps receiving the current professional supports he already has in UK, he will be able to cope with his disabilities, fears and anxiety and build his future life. As his parents and family members, it is very hard and heart breaking to see Wali in this situation every day. We do believe Wali’s life is as important as every other individual lives, which are important to every parent, and he should not be returned to Pakistan. The Children like Wali cannot be blamed for witnessing such incidents; instead, they should be supported and kept safe. We will be grateful if you sign in to our petition and support our appeal to Secretary of State requesting, “Please consider appropriate and fair human rights for Wali and his family and grant this family the right to remain in the UK to be safe”. Thanks for your time and considerations.

  • Save Staffordshire's NHS Say No to the STP
We are concerned about the following aspects outlined in the plan. • The reduction of A&E Departments from three to two. Wherever this closure maybe we believe that it will simply put further pressure on A&E departments in other parts of the county. • Closure of community hospital beds. • The further privatisation and fragmentation of NHS services within the country. • Closure of hospital departments putting further pressure on other services • The redeployment of staff which poses a risk to nurses and other health care professionals pay and terms and conditions. We believe that these proposals pose a direct threat to NHS services within the County and therefore we stand united in our opposition to these proposals. Please sign our petition to oppose these proposals and to save our NHS

  • Extend the Ultra-Low-Emission-Zone to the whole of London
We are calling on the Mayor of London to tackle air pollution and save lives by creating an Ultra Low Emission Zone (‘ULEZ’) to cover the whole of Greater London. An ULEZ is an area in which vehicles must meet exhaust emission standards or pay a daily travel charge. The highest charges will be paid by the most polluting vehicles. The Mayor is proposing to create an ULEZ for all vehicles in central London in 2019. He is consulting on whether to extend it to cover the area inside the North and Circular Road and also to create an ULEZ for the whole of London but only for heavy vehicles. We are asking him to go further. Air pollution is now a major health risk. We need powerful measures to tackle it. An ULEZ which applies only to heavy vehicles will not be enough to protect people from pollution in outer London, especially where people live and work next to the North or South Circular. Creating an ULEZ for all vehicles to cover the whole of London would significantly reduce pollution in outer London and would better improve the air quality in central London than an ULEZ that covers central London alone. For these reasons we ask you to add your name to this petition:

  • Save 'outstanding' flagship HIV charity the Sussex Beacon from cuts to services
In a recent article by GScene Magasine, it was advised that Brighton based HIV charity The Sussex Beacon faces the prospect of closing services, including its ten bed inpatient unit, following a reduction in funding it receives from the NHS. The Sussex Beacon provides specialist support and care to people living with HIV through inpatient and outpatient services. It helps hundreds of people living with HIV each year and was rated ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission in September. Changes to local commissioning arrangements have led to a reduction in funding from some statutory funders. The Sussex Beacon has already lost funding with further cuts likely to follow in the near future. The charity costs over £2 million a year to run and the Charity Trustees say they cannot continue to absorb these cuts. While many people living with HIV are now able to live long and healthy lives, there are still many who need specialist services. Last year The Sussex Beacon’s inpatient unit had 233 admissions and was full for the majority of the year. It provided over 2,000 bed nights, relieving pressure on both health and social care services in Sussex. Please use #SaveTheSussexBeacon when sharing to help build momentum and to let the Sussex Beacon staff see what you are doing to help

  • Stop Virgin Care Taking Over Health and Family Services in Essex
Essex County Council have packaged all their health, well-being and family services for residents from pre-birth to 19 years and have decided to let the contract to run them to Virgin Care. Good childcare is vital for the future of this country and this move can only serve to reduce the quality of childcare in Essex. The services affected include: • Health visitors • Children's Centres • Family Nurse Partnership • The 0-5 Healthy Child Programme • The 5-19 Programme This takeover represents an example of creeping privatisation of services to a situation where there is reduced accountability and a strong possibility of cuts to hard working staff and their employment rights. The NHS and its related services should remain a publicly provided, publicly funded health service for the benefit of all UK citizens, not for the benefit of those who wish to make a profit. Virgin Care Ltd pays no corporation tax in the UK and should therefore not profit from the UK taxpayer. It is part of a group whose ultimate parent company is based in the British Virgin Islands, which is a tax haven. Virgin Care has been quietly picking up multi million healthcare contracts across the UK to run at the taxpayers expense for the benefit of their offshore shareholders. (source: http://bit.ly/virgincareprofile) Help us tell Essex County Council we don't want Virgin Care in Essex.

  • NHS Pain Relief Injections Stopped
I am begging people to get behind this campaign. My sister who has a spinal degenerative disease and needs regular pain killing injections in order to function has received a letter from the NHS in Blackburn that funding has been refused for ongoing treatment. She is certainly no alone, and there could be many other people affected by this decision. She has had to pay 864.00GBP in order to get a pain killing injection from her specialist today. What is going on? This is not a cosmetic face lift or botox, we are talking about a pain killing injection that is necessary for her to function. Please help me to expose what is happening to innocent people, many of whom are not in a position to pay. They are being referred back to their GP's who are going to be overwhelmed with patients needing this care. Please help. xxx I am not only fighting for this treatment for my sister but to all the other patients who have received similar letters advising them that their treatment is no longer available.
