• Make PIP Assessment Centres more easily accessible for people who are ill
My nephew has Asperger's Syndrome. He has been unable to claim PIP because he cannot "hold on" to the phone to speak to an operator, have the right documents at the time he makes the call, completely understand the telephone conversation, understand how to fill in the form to explain his situation or attend the assessment centre, as this would involve interacting with people and travelling to an unknown place. I cannot start the claim proccess for him by phone, as he has to be present and I do not live near him.

  • Get great Stirling Run up and running again!
Scotland has one of the poorest health care statistics in Europe. The Great Stirling Run inspired people from around the country to get fit and achieve a goal. Stirling is easy to get to from all areas of Scotland and has clean air, unlike some of the traffic heavy cities which other events are held in. Young people from locally and beyond are proud of the runners they know who participated and were hoping to achieve this event in the future themselves. Please support this campaign to get Great Run Company to rethink their action. Dates which do not clash with VLM and the Kiltwalk would enable the GSR to flourish in the future. Don’t let bad organisation get in the way of a fantastic and inspiring event!

  • Vital NHS Phone Calls Are Being Blocked!
The telephones of NHS GP Surgeries and Talking Matters (which deals with mental health issues) in Northumberland have changed to using withheld numbers, which means that many people with urgent medical issues are missing vital calls; this is because if you use BT Call Protect - which blocks many nuisance calls - NHS calls are blocked too! The NHS seems totally disinterested in rectifying this problem; meanwhile I have missed several important medical calls and have even been discharged from Talking Matters after waiting over a month for a telephone appointment because "Your phone won't accept withheld numbers". I wasn't told about this beforehand and no apology or explanation was necessary, apparently. (In many places locally mobile phones simply don't work.)

  • Reduce the prices of healthy products to enable people to make their own healthy product choices
Its is very important to me because we hear new claims how sugar, alcohol and household products we use daily is damaging our health with 1 in 3 people we know will have cancer at one point in their life. Majority of these diseases and cancers are caused by the cheap products on the market and poor lifestyle. The natural and healthier products prices are sky high, I believe the prices should be cut down so people can make healthier food and product choices for their families or even make it equal price so people have a freedom of choice. This subject is dictated on television and on the news but is sometimes impossible being healthy as its too expensive to upkeep and something needs to drastically change. I have tried to make a change as a overweight person due to the food choices I have made and decided I needed to eliminate sugar and carbs as its ruining my health but some of the prices out there in our local shops are ridiculous for a family to enjoy the benefits of healthy eating are can be virtually impossible to upkeep if you are on average wage. Some people have to go into debt in order to eat naturally and use natural products due to the economic climate and the cost of living is so expensive and I wish to make a stand by making it equal or reverse the prices so healthier is cheaper rather than the other way round.

  • Adequate help for mental illnesses
This is extremely important to myself as I suffer from anxiety and my oldest son suffers with extreme anxiety and on occasion low mood. I had to fight for years, constantly taking my son to his gp just to receive an initial referal for him. He is currently being seen through CAMHS, where is he supposed to be seen on a fortnightly basis, however he hasn't had an appointment since November! I have contacted CAMHS on a number of occasions to be told he is still an active member on their list, however, they cannot tell me when his next appointment will be. This has left my son and myself feeling frustrated, deflated and we feel we have nowhere else to turn for support. As a sufferer of anxiety myself, I know how awful it feels and how it gets in the way of your day to day life, but for a child this must be unbearable. There is no worse feeling as a parent trying your best for your children but not knowing how to help them. In my area alone, the suicide rate has almost tripled in the past few years. I find this figure to be extremely alarming as it shows just how extreme the impact of mental health can have on people. Most of these people taking their own lives are kids....our children and the next generation. Our kids are living in a world where so much is expected of them, and the pressure to fit in and do well in life clearly shows it can all be too much for them. We need to end the stigma relating to mental health and we need to teach our children it's ok to talk about their feelings and it's ok to feel overwhelmed at times. I was deeply shocked and concerned to see the handful of MPs who attended the debate just earlier this month regarding the issue of child mental health. If our MPs are not going to take this matter seriously and fight for our children then we must. It's about time they realised how important this issue is as the problem is growing and growing year by year.

  • First Aid as part of the National Curriculum
Knowledge is such a powerful tool. Anybody could find themselves in an emergency situation at any time. Knowing how to respond by giving first aid could make a huge difference to the outcome of a situation. It could potentially relieve some stress from services such as the NHS also. We live in a time where technology is so advanced, yet only a handful of individuals in academic or workplace settings have been trained in First Aid. Everybody should be equip with this knowledge not just the select few. We will all be safer if we know how to react in an emergency.

  • Make All Nutritional Labels Contain Added Sugar Information and Other Updates
Eating too much added sugar can cause tooth decay and contribute to people having too many calories, which can lead to weight gain.Being overweight increases your risk of health problems such as heart disease, some cancers and type 2 diabetes. For a healthy, balanced diet, we should get most of our calories from other kinds of foods, such as starchy foods (wholegrain where possible) and fruits and vegetables, and only eat foods high in free sugars occasionally or not at all.

  • Make Medical Marijuana Easier To Access
In the U.K. medical marijuana was made accessible through the NHS as of last November. Yet very few prescriptions have been made. Currently it is viewed as more acceptable to give a patient Opiates which are not only addictive but have little to no effectiveness on chronic pain. This needs to stop, there is a treatment out there that could help thousands and yet those seeking medical marijuana are often left frustrated by not being able to access it. Many are having to turn to purchasing the drug illegally in order to see some pain relief. People should not be criminalised for seeking a quality of life. The U.K. government needs to make access to this treatment easier for those who need it.
