• Immediate reduction of high stakes gambling machines
These machines let people spend thousands in a matter of minutes, creating lots of gambling addicts. This directly effects social and mental wellbeing, and leads to 2 people committing suicide every day. The only reason the government has done this is because of financial gain from the tax system of around £400 million! This is a very disappointing irresponsible attitude.

  • Closure of day centres for the elderly
Loneliness is considered to be one of the main problems among elderly persons which can have a serious effect on health so why would the government close such active community centres?

  • SAVE OUR COMMUNITY'S HEALD HEAD COTTAGE.
This Cottage was donated to the communities of THURNSCOE, GOLDTHORPE, and BOLTON UPON DEARNE. It is to be used freely of charge for the development and use of outdoor pursuits. For many years, pupils and families in the Dearne area enjoy this place as an activity wonderland for camping and outdoor pursuits, being self sufficient at no charge from any commercial enterprise. In the past twenty years it has help produce many athletes at all standards of abilities up to school, town, district, county, National and international level due to its free access and voluntary coaching. In many instances this has been the only holiday recreation our pupils have thoroughly enjoyed from these three mining villages of a most economically deprived part of South Yorkshire. We have used much of our initiatives to utilise the council open woodland for running, jumping, survival and throwing exercises. Through this, dozens of our pupils have represented Yorkshire, England, and Great Britain,. One special feature we created was outdoor central heated winter climbing frames and Athletic related Gymnastics structures. All due to the communities children's ingenuity and initiatives. Some of these pupils grew to to become excellent ambassadors for our community some of which have have been soldiers promoted up the ranks. On a visit to the near by town of Denby Dale our youngsters helped recover stolen property from a burglary in the Town and was honoured by a special invite to a celebration dinner at the Barnsley Lord Mayors Parlour. We wish the TRUSTEES to continue this development and not to Sell it off to Private developers.

  • Say NO to a Mega-Prison in Glen Parva.
The numbers of people sent to prison in England and Wales are out of control. Prison does not work to address harm, it increases harm. Currently England and Wales have the highest rate of imprisonment in Western Europe, and building more prisons will make this worse. More people will be sent to prison for minor crimes. In Glen Parva, pollution from construction activity will enter the Grand Union Canal and local bat, hedgehog and toad life will be affected. The increase of prisoners will put a strain on local services and infrastructure as it did in Wrexham with HMP Berwyn. Local residents will also be affected by increased noise, light pollution and congestion. The £170 million planned to build the mega-prison should instead be invested in public services, which will benefit the community.

  • Housing developments should include green spaces.
Gardens are so small these days with property developers squeezing as many houses as possible into an area. Many of our modern developments are some distance from shops, parks, etc, making it necessary to get in a car every time you leave the house. If it is a very large development a community building should be part of the plan complete with 'green' and what about a village pond!

  • Save Ward 6 Bishop Auckland Hospital
This is of vital importance for people of the County Durham area. We are a nurse led unit who admit patients from Acute sites who are medically fit for discharge but may need more social input or would be unsafe to discharge home for example dementia patients, non- weight bearing patients and obese patients. The plans for these patients now is to discharge home for district nurses to see to but there are no proposals to increase the number of district nurses and when people spoke to them they were not aware of the proposals or how they were going to staff them!

  • New Youth Clubs For Peterborugh - UK
This is important because the amount of anti-social behaviour is increasing rapidly. This can also help reduce crime within the area if the younger generation are surrounded with a happy, more fun, environments where they can meet new people and try new things.

  • Food Wastage
Young and old people in our Country are living on the streets and in sheltered accommodation Who can't afford to feed themselves or their families While Britain ignores their plight inc Retailers who would rather dump the out of date products rather than give to those who are starving Why isn't it possible to deliver these goods to our Communities to be shared equally amongst the poor This is why I have started this petition I am so angry at the waste I see when I am late shopping

  • Keep Wirral’s local walk in centres
The ones based in or near the hospitals are hard to reach for those without their own transportation, often having to use two buses , making it hard for the elderly, and the disabled.

  • Improve access to Exeter St.Thomas Railway Station
I am Mason Bell, I am running this petition because the only access to the station is up flights of stairs. These stairs are steep and on one side there are 3 sections of steps to climb. This makes access very difficult for people with disabilities, parents with children in buggies and heavy luggage. I myself am unable to access the station as the stairs are too steep for me. I see lots of people struggle up the steps to the station and a lift or stairlift will make access and easier and be more likely to improve usage of the station.
