• Accurate testing and fair treatment for people with chronic Lyme disease
Recently, a number of high-profile people have been complaining that they have a chronic form of the disease that resists treatments and persists with severe symptoms - but such a condition is not widely accepted by doctors. Others have talked about Lyme disease being under-diagnosed or being the root cause of other illnesses. But the idea of a Lyme infection that is not completely treated and lingers for years is controversial. Most doctors say that the vast majority of people with the disease, if caught early, can be treated completely with just a short course of antibiotics. "There is no consensus over whether chronic Lyme actually exists. This needs to change. Many patients with Lyme disease remain ill after antibiotic treatment or receive no treatment at all due to doctors who treat them poorly, refuse to diagnose or Misdiagnose as other diseases. Thousands of people suffer daily, Some misdiagnosed as other illnesses after a weak- positive or negative test. Often health professionals ignore history of symptoms leading them to treat themselves in pain with no ongoing support. Lyme disease & associated co-infections can be often misdiagnosed as ME/Chronic fatigue syndrome /rheumatoid arthritis or mental illness. We need to understand why some patients respond to treatment and others don’t. We also need to understand how Lyme disease progresses, how co-infections affect the illness, how the disease is transmitted, and which treatments are the most effective. The ultimate goal is to improve the quality of life for patients with Lyme disease based on fair and affordable treatment /testing with doctors that are knowledgeable on the disease and its Co-infections.

  • Reduce PIP stress for Rheumatoid Arthritis sufferers
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory disease. It largely affects synovial joints, which are lined with a specialised tissue called synovium. RA typically affects the small joints of the hands and the feet, and usually both sides equally and symmetrically, although any synovial joint can be affected. It is a systemic disease and so can affect the whole body, including the heart, lungs and eyes.Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a disease of ups and downs. One day, your joints feel pretty good. The next your joints are swollen and in pain and you can barely get out of bed. These symptom episodes – called flares – can be unpredictable and debilitating. Flares come in two varieties, Predictable” flares have a known trigger. For example, you decide to clean your house from top to bottom one day, overdo it and end up with swollen, stiff joints the next day. Overexertion, poor sleep, stress or an infection like the flu can all set off RA symptoms. Blood samples are used to measure levels of the stress hormone cortisol as well as inflammatory cytokines -- including TNF-alpha and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) -- believed to play a key role in RA severity. Test have shown that patients who have a tendency for more worrying are reported to have slightly more disease activity, more swollen joints and more pain after during and after a stressful event. Approximately one third of people stop work because of the disease within 2 years of onset, and this prevalence increases thereafter. While RA isn’t fatal, complications can shorten your lifespan by roughly 10 years. However, it’s important to note that disease progression varies greatly from person to person. People who test positive for RF and anti-CCPs tend to progress at a faster rate. Improvements need to be put in place to assist people living with Rheumatoid Arthritis to not have to have stress factors increased which can then in turn exasperated their immune system to raise inflammation and cause further damage and incapacity.

  • Legally recognise ADUK Dogs as Carers for Direct Payments
These are amazing carers who maintain and promote independence for people who have various and complex care and social needs. Our assistance dogs care for us 24/7 who should be legally recognised by the government and save the government millions a year in care charges. The government needs to offer people the right to be able to claim for these costs to be able to keep us independent and motivated and socialised within the community. The average homecare cost is £200 per week the average cost of an ADUK is about £50 per week. Some more progressive councils allow for these amazing carers to be honoured and covered by a direct payment, whilst other councils take the guideline discriptor of carer ( meaning human ) as literal- this should be addressed to show the change since it was written. It will also help with the crisis in the health and social care situation.

  • Have a Limit on Standing for Workers
Standing for long periods of time at work can cause many health problems, including pain in many areas of the body (such as the back, legs and hips) as well as varicose veins, problems during pregnancy, heart and circulation issues and more. This does not even begin to cover the issues people with existing health conditions may face. More than eleven million workers in the UK are standing for a prolonged period of time, risking their health and unable to take the weight off of their feet.

  • Ban dogs from the playing field (next to the school) - Chudleigh
The green space next to Fore Street Play Park is used by school children throughout the day as well as for recreational use outside of school hours. But the dog mess left on the grass is a constant problem despite it being an area regularly patrolled by the Dog Warden and covered by CCTV. Unfortunately bins and notices fail to make any difference - the people who allow this to happen, do not care. Dog mess carries incredibly toxic bacteria which among other things can cause blindness. To have this space dog free would allow children to play freely without the constant worry of stepping in/falling in dog mess. There are many places dog owners can go to exercise their dogs without using this space. It would not be detrimental to the town, considering the fact that Chudleigh is surrounded by green space, all within a few minutes walk from any where in the town.

  • Introduce bus service from Dundee to Stratheden Hospital
Hundreds of students (nursing, medical and allied health professions) are placed at this hospital a year from Dundee University, Dundee & Angus College and Abertay University (and the surrounding area) and using public transport can take up to two hours to get there and back even though it is only a 30/40 minute journey. Its not only students who would benefit from this, stratheden has staff, visitors and patients who would find this bus route useful. At present, anyone getting to Stratheden Hospital via public transport has to get a bus from the hospital into the town centre of Cupar (which only runs once an hour so you often have to resort to a taxi) and then wait to get either a train into Dundee or another bus. The hospital itself plays a big role in mental health care within NHS Scotland but is currently facing a staffing shortage and from personal experience I believe this has a lot to do with how unaccessible the hospital and as many of you may know, staffing & student shortages leads to poor care delivery. I urge anyone who works at the hospital, is a student and understands the struggles of travelling to placement, someone who understands how important good staffing levels within the NHS are or just anyone who wants to support the cause to please sign this petition. Thank you.

  • Return Student Nurses Bursary Now
Student nurses are finding it impossible to do over 60 hours to make up for lost Nurses Bursary to ensure they never come out of education with a debt over their shoulders or a shadow over their family members. As a result student nurses are dropping out and potential students are discouraged to enter into nursing while a lot of nurses are retiring in thousands. Patient safety is getting out of hand.

  • Personality Disorder Equality
Personality disorders are often dismissed as behavioural problems that simply put pressure on to the NHS and cause professional people problems. The truth in fact, is that they are not a choice, they are very real illnesses that often see some of societies most vulnerable people shunned, discriminated against, fall into the criminal justice system, and ultimately lose their lives. There are many media stories in circulation around personality disorder patients, being denied treatment, losing their lives and being denied basic human rights. This is wrong in one of the wealthiest and developed countries in the world. We need change. We need a voice. We need compulsory training for all frontline, primary, secondary and tertiary service staff.
