More Funding For the Mental Health department in Southmead HospitalWe are a group of ten teens who are participating in the National Citizen Service Programme. For our social action, we decided to address issues around Teens' Mental Health. Statistically 1 in 10 teens struggles with their mental health. However, there are many more that don't speak out because there are many restrictions in their way. One of these restrictions is stigma which we want to address in our social action. Another big restriction is the lack of support available. We want more funding's from the NHS to help people around Bristol who are suffering with their mental health. One of our group members struggled with their mental health; here is her story. "Over the past few years, depression has been an unwanted friend. During this period, I also dealt with abuse and bullying which affected me emotionally. This caused me to give up with everything. I couldn't be bothered to get up yet alone revise. After my GCSE's finished life at home got worse. I lost the only friends I had. I didn't leave my bed. I started to get bad thoughts about suicide which lead to self harming. I was too afraid to tell people because of my severe anxiety. Once i opened up and told my friend, I realised there were people that wanted to help me. I was just looking in the wrong place. I decided to not end my life there and then but now I continued it until this day where I can say I'm recovering." Another member of our team had an experience where their sibling's treatment for anorexia was significantly delayed due to a bed shortage because of the lack of funding. These are just two peoples stories. Since so many teens have their own experience, we want to help make it easier for others to receive the support they need as early as possible so they don't have to suffer in silence.147 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Stigma Stoppers

I want all MP'S to work for a week in their local A&E department.I think the only way to bring home the implications of financial restraints and the decisions MP's make on the NHS is to see how it works in real time. It would offer an invaluable insight to the people who seem to make decisions based purely on reading a spread sheet. How can it be right for people who have no experience of working in the NHS or have no medical training be allowed to make decisions on how this wonderful institution is run. I'm sure they have an army of expert advisors, but following a recent visit to my local A&E I'm sorry to say the NHS is broken. Until these people see how it works from a personal point of view they have no chance of fixing it. If you are happy to see the NHS fall into a deep dark hole never to be seen again. Just sit back and watch. Should you wish to give the Government a kick up the backside and take some action, please sign this petition. It must be better than doing nothing! Thank you for taking the time. Chris Hirst.26 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Christopher Hirst

Withdrawal of Accupuncture services by NHS Taysidethis is important to make sure that clients in the NHS Tayside region are allowed to maintain an existence. Accupuncture works for many people. We don't give up our time to go to an appointment because it doesn't work. It's also not an expensive treatment compared to what my GP, the Pain Clinic and my health management team are now going to have to do to find an alternative therapy I have been attending the Pain Clinic since 2005 and have found my sessions to be extremely helpful. I'm on approximately 30 tablets a day for my pain and other illnesses and I'm at the limit of what I can take. Including morphine and lidocaine patches, which were also at threat of being withdrawn by NHS Tayside. My accupuncture was my lifleine. It reduced my pain enough for me to exist. I feel that your withdrawal of accupuncture services could have detrimental effects to not only myself, but all the clients who relied on their accupuncture sessions to exist. I would like this decision to be revied at a parliamentary level.60 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Joy Muir

Relatives rights to Legal Aid for Inquests. These bodies bring in the best legal representation, often paid for by the public purse. In most cases relatives are left to fend for themselves at a time when they are still grieving for their loved ones. Relatives usually have limited means and little knowledge of legal procedures and will find the inquest intimidating and confusing. Most people will be shocked to find, as I did, that although you wish to represent your loved one you have no disclosure rights, requests to the court are often either ignored or misinterpreted. Without legal representation an expert witnesses will not take instructions to provide expert opinions and analysis to support the family’s case. Many relatives like me are struggling to understand a death which could have been avoided at the same time they are trying to come to terms with a recent bereavement. They are unaware of the types of inquest available such as the standard UK inquest or the more in depth and investigative EU Article 2 Inquest. Coroners, although supposedly independent, are often familiar with the other party’s legal representatives and in some cases have worked in the same legal practice. In some cases the coroner works with the state to secure a quick verdict leaving the relatives facing decades of work to secure the truth. We live in a society where criminals have more rights than victims or their families and I believe this injustice needs reversing. Legal Aid funding should be extended to serve bereaved families who deserve to know the truth about how their relative died. http://www.examiner.co.uk/news/grieving-widower-howard-denby-tried-13265128 http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/calls-inquiry-call-over-suicide-6926557 http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/carol-denby-killed-herself-after-6981544 http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/fathers-despair-delays-cps-review-9682318 http://www.itv.com/news/wales/2013-01-14/robbie-powell-death-report-redactions-uncovered-by-wales-this-week/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4393976/Asthma-girl-s-parents-call-unlawful-death-ruling.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4393976/Asthma-girl-s-parents-call-unlawful-death-ruling.html This is important because for the relatives they need closure and only the truth will give them this and for society in general we have seen too many cover up's and as a consequence many more innocent people have suffered when the truth has been hidden. The loss of Legal Aid has disadvantaged the majority with justice and truth only available to those who can afford to buy their version of it.48 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Howard Denby

Reduce Loneliness by introducing intergenerational nursery classesThroughout my Human Geography degree at Gloucester University I have specialised in learning about the worlds ageing population. An increase in the longevity of people’s lives alongside a declining birth rate has resulted in an ageing population. This means many practical problems have evolved. For example there is an ever increasing strain on healthcare, sheltered housing and an increase in the dependency ratio. An increase in the older generation means the dependency ratio in turn increases; the working section of a population is put under pressure to provide, mostly through taxes for the older generation. However, social stress is occurring which cannot be solved by money alone, there is an ever increasing issue of loneliness within the older generation. Loneliness is a complex and usually unpleasant emotion, which typically includes anxious feelings about a lack of connectedness or communality with others. Loneliness can get into every pore of an elderly persons life and can have detrimental effects. I believe it is a very sad reflection that when people are most in need they feel the most abandoned. However, I want us to work together as a community to create a long term and sustainable solution for loneliness in Cheltenham, this would occur by bringing nursery age children into old peoples homes on a regular basis. The two generations would complete activities together which will have benefits for both (as seen on Channel 4 program 'Old peoples home for 4 year olds')43 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Molly Davis

END ACID VIOLENCE IN THE U.K.National governments hold the responsibility to introduce and implement law and policies to protect our fundamental human rights in a cosmopolitan city like London. One of the reasons that acid attacks occur is due to cheap and easy availability of acid in the UK. The state has a due diligence obligation to prevent acid violence on our streets by enforcing tighter regulation of acid sales as well as enacting criminal laws to punish perpetrators. Prevention should start at schools by educating and working with youth to promote respectful relationships and gender equality. Research helps us to understand the causes and effects of acid violence to identify practical and feasible solutions to prevent such attacks whilst taking account of the impact this has on our trade and economy as a whole. We are asking for change in policies and laws that strike a fair and reasonable balance to protect the public whilst being considerate of the rights and duties of our traders, but ultimately our core aim is to punish the perpetrators of this callous act and promote a zero tolerance policy.23 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sejal - Solicitor Senior Courts of England & Wales
