Universal screening for thyroid disorders before and during pregnancyHad I been screened for thyroid disorder before or during pregnancy, my son would not be borderline hypothyroid now. We found out by chance that his TSH and T4 levels were out of range! I was put at serious risk of losing my baby or him being born with a birth defects and many have already lost their babies for an un-diagnosed thyroid disorder. I believe that had I been screened for thyroid disorder before or during pregnancy, my son would not be borderline hypothyroid now. We only found out about me being hypothyroid by chance, as I was breastfeeding him and his TSH and T4 levels were out of range because of me, through my breast milk! I was put at serious risk of losing my baby or him being born with even more serious birth defects and so many women have already lost their babies for no apparent reason other than a possible un-diagnosed thyroid disorder. If women were screened in preparation of pregnancy, many unexplained miscarriages, birth defects or lifelong developmental conditions could be maybe avoided or at least contained and controlled, all thanks to one extra blood test screening comparing to what is the current offering under the NHS services for pregnant women. Please make this become possible, as women are then the ones left with the burden to deal with the guilt, the pain and the sorrow of remembering their rainbow babies! Thank you for signing this petition and for pushing it as far up as possible.17 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Daniela Ballaro

Hold Jeremy Hunt and George Osborne accountable for the 9% rise in UK death ratesOn 23rd June 2016, the Office for National Statistics released distressing data, which shows an increase in death rates of 9% (that's 52,400 people) in England and Wales between June 2014 and June 2015 when compared with data from the previous year. This rise is unprecedented. Never before have we failed our sick and elderly populations to such a degree. The British Medical Journal (BMJ) published the data in an article on 6th July, stating that austerity and economic inequality played a "major role" in this increase. There are now millions fewer social care visits to the elderly per year since Osborne assumed office in 2010 and Jeremy Hunt in 2012. These care packages were seen as playing a vital role in the early identification and treatment of the deterioration in a person’s health and well-being. Public Health England stated that they are observing rapidly increasing mortality rates in the over 75s. These rates are particularly high in “spearhead areas”, which are some of the poorest parts of the country. The BMJ have stated that members of the public with long term health needs such as dementia and other disabilities are suffering the most. Often these are the people among us without a voice. Be their voice and sign this petition to hold Jeremy Hunt and George Osborne accountable for causing the premature deaths of these 52,400 people by inflicting vile austerity measures upon public health services against the wishes of the majority of the British public who value our national health service. We are also calling for a public review of the health budget cuts and privatisation deals that have been and are being negotiated and agreed upon on our behalf. The NHS belongs to us, the responsibility to save it is ours.9 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Ilona Gray

Ban Dangerous Pesticides in parks and land managed by or on behalf of Sefton Council. The use of glyphosates has already been banned or restricted in 8 countries. It is not acceptable that ourselves, our children and the animals we share our community with are being routinely exposed to these chemicals whether we like it or not. This is a matter of great importance for those of us who care about each other's health and the health of our children, our cats, our dogs and all the flora and fauna of this city, of course including our beloved bees. UKIP MEP'S: Donate EU salary to the NHSAlthough not part of the official campaign, Nigel Farage and UKIP did nothing to dispel the claim that we could give £350 million a week to our NHS. Already however, it has come to light that this is unrealistic, which has led many voters to feel they were misled by those who promoted Leave. Although it is not much, it is better than nothing. MEP's earn around €96,000 per year. Although the UK has voted to leave the European Union, until Article 50 is triggered (which as it looks now, could take some time), the UK will still send MEP's to European Parliament. Having campaigned as they have for the UK to leave, and against the European Union, it no longer seems fair they still take their approximate €96,000 yearly salary, plus expenses. Either they should stop claiming EU money, or it should be put to better use. We are asking them to give it to the NHS as a gesture of how committed they are to improving the service.15 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Ethan Warren

Free Asthma Inhalers for English ResidentsAsthma is a life threatening condition that needs medication to overcome the struggles of it. 5.5 million people are treated for the condition. On average, three people per day or one person every eight hours dies from asthma. An estimated 75% of hospital admissions for asthma are avoidable and 90% of deaths are preventable. One in 11 children and one in 12 adults has asthma. Yet English residents still have to pay for inhalers, when people living in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland receive them for free. It's not worth the risk of not taking the required medication because some people can't afford it. Keep UKIP OUT of No 10As British and most of all being human, we have no room in our society for racism, it is a backward policy. We have hope that entry of a racist party into Downing Street is not possible, as the electorate is now becoming more cautious. However the result of the 23rd gives us cause to act. We need to protect this country for the greater good.18 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Ina Shambles

Improving provision for Autistic individuals in DerbyshireMy name is Jenn Layton. I had an autistic meltdown on the 11th June and ended up in A&E twice in 24 hours with overdoses. I had been referred to the Home Treatment and Crisis Team the day before. When I called them before I took my first overdose to tell them I was on my own and felt risky I was told to go for a walk. I assaulted a member of the hospital staff trying to help on my first admission because I could not cope with the sensory input and left the house in handcuffs when I refused to cooperate with paramedics. I self discharged and went home and overdosed again on alcohol and drugs because I was in a state of physiological shock and unable to behave rationally. I really wanted to die and stop feeling the pain I was in. I am feeling better now but am terrified if this happens again at a weekend and I am still not understood the same thing will happen again, or worse. NHS Derby City and Derbyshire estimate there are approximately 11,000 people in the County somewhere on the Autistic Spectrum. Lack of provision mean we are often unable to achieve anywhere near or full potential. We are stuck between NHS teams, with no dedicated pathway, and often encounter poorly prepared and dangerous situations that can worsen already difficult circumstances. Mental health staff, hospital staff, police and social care are working with no dedicated training or joining up of services. Families, parents and partners are being left alone to pick up the pieces because of the lack of provision, making life miserable and harder for everyone. The number of people on the spectrum is increasing all the time as diagnosis improves. Please add your name and story and make life easier for everyone, Aspies, Autists, their families and the services and save some money for the county in the long term by avoiding countless crisis situations that are occurring every day, in homes and public places in Derbyshire.25 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jenn Layton

Ban Dangerous Pesticides in Hastings and St. LeonardsUntil there is conclusive evidence to contradict the World Health Organisation declaration that glyphosate is a 'probable carcinogen' we propose that Hastings Council identify and apply safe methods of weed control. In the interim, please notify residents when glyphosate spraying is planned so they can manually or otherwise deal safely with weeds and also ensure pets and children are not at risk.
