• Blackpool: Fining the Homeless for begging
Blackpool Council are already handing out fines to people sleeping rough on the streets, this petition is here to stop them. At least 90 penalties have been handed out so far according to a Freedom of Information request. Fines can be up to £100 according to the Council's website https://www.blackpool.gov.uk/Residents/Planning-environment-and-community/Crime-and-safety/Public-Space-Protection-Orders.aspx If we get over 1500 signatures we can trigger a council debate. Being homeless isn’t a crime and they shouldn’t be fined for not having a home. Targeting those with nothing to pay nonsensical fines is a crime itself. The council are leaving our most vulnerable even further out of reach of help, these people can’t afford food and don’t have a decent place to sleep at night, fining them isn’t going to help the situation. It then becomes our responsibility to do the right thing and stop these awful fines from continuing in our town. This campaign is based on this information from Blackpool council's website: https://www.blackpool.gov.uk/Residents/Planning-environment-and-community/Crime-and-safety/Public-Space-Protection-Orders.aspx If you have anything that suggests that Blackpool Council are no longer able to fine people for begging then we'd love to hear more from you, drop us an email at [email protected]

  • Develop the Brownfield sites in Worthing
Not only will this ease the housing burden on our town with the potential for several hundred new homes it will improve the general outlook of the town to visitors and tourists. Teville gate has sat in ruins for 20 years and is in dire need of investment. The aquarena site is again another key gateway to the town and new housing will improve this area. Union place could become a new key entertainment hub with cinema complex, eateries and some housing. Not only will this create jobs but will also help those who own business in the town centre with the extra influx of potential customers and newer, improved retailers. We have already seen the potential new brands coming into the Montague Centre and want to continue to see an influx of brand names. These names will hopefully help our locals to choose to shop local as opposed to spending in Chichester, Horsham, Brighton and other towns. This will allow us to employ more people and continue to support the local economy. As a town we have huge potential and we would like the council to start improving plans so we can all work and aspire to becoming a better Worthing

  • Don't Evict the Pennie Family
They recently lost their Mum and having previously lost their Dad, the Council proposes to evict the family on 16th January 2017 citing this was succession inheritance of a Council home which can happen once (or more depending on the terms of the tenancy agreement) but Mrs Pennie was already named on the tenancy agreement so the family do not believe this was succession inheritance. Further the council has not yet provided the family with a copy of the tenancy agreement under the Freedom of Information Act to allow them to seek full legal advice with just 9 days before they propose to evict. So that the Pennie family can remain in the family home which they have lived in for over 38 years and let them focus on their grieving rather than worrying about being homeless. Also, so that this doesn't happen to anyone else.

  • Don't fine people for begging in Kettering
The idea of fining those who already have so little, that they are forced to sleep out in the cold or ask for food and money is a cruel and heartless act. This is attacking vulnerable people and does not resolving the issues homeless people face. Other campaigns have successfully stopped other councils from imposing similar fines. This campaign is based on this information from Kettering council's website: http://www.kettering.gov.uk/downloads/file/7211/pspo_order_25_july_2016 If you have anything that suggests that Kettering Council are no longer able to fine people for begging then we'd love to hear more from you, drop us an email at [email protected]

  • Don't fine people for begging in Poole
The idea of fining those who already have so little, that they are forced to sleep out in the cold or ask for food and money is a cruel and heartless act. This is attacking vulnerable people and does not resolve the issues homeless people face. Other campaigns have successfully stopped other councils from imposing similar fines. Nottingham has proposed £60-100 fines, but others are planning up to £1000. Councils use get-outs that they're "intentionally homeless" or "not vulnerable enough" to avoid helping these people. Most have one or more health conditions. We live in a rich western enlightened democracy apparently. Do you want this to happen in your name? We've already had a response from Poole Council's Safer Communities Manager, Ian Cooke, who invites us all to go and have a chat with him: "if you are so concerned about the plight of the homeless and those begging on the streets of Poole you might like to come and discuss the issues with me". If you'd like to share you views with Mr Cooke please feel free to email him on: [email protected] This campaign is based on this information from Poole council's website, the order lasts for 3 years and was introduced in December 2014: http://www.poole.gov.uk/newsroom/2014-news-archive/december-2014/borough-of-poole-obtains-public-spaces-protection-orders/ If you have anything that suggests that Poole Council are no longer able to fine people for begging then we'd love to hear more from you, drop us an email at [email protected]

  • SAVE THE WHITE BEAR
This has been a family run pub for 17 years. If these applications are allowed to pass, the landlord, a 68 year old man will be made homeless and the building will be redeveloped. Jonathon and Oz will no longer be running The White Bear. The end result is to re-open the pub after the refurbishments have been completed as a much smaller venue (lowered ceiling, reduced floor space) with no kitchen and no function room. This will mean no more home-cooked traditional food, no parties etc and with the rents this property company demand this will not be a sustainable business for anyone. They wish to make changes to the front of the listed building as well as redevelop the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors into self-contained flats. This will not be affordable housing for the residents of Islington, this will be yet more flats that local residents cannot afford to live in. We believe that, as a local community of residents and businesses, we need to pull together and fight for our local pub and stop allowing the 'big-cats' to force local residents out of areas that have been their homes their whole lives. This is important, not just for The White Bear, but for all of us.

  • freeze all Section 21 no fault evictions for three years
Many people are evicted in the Private Rental sector with no good reason other than the Landlord wants to make more money This is a major cause of homelessness Landlords can evict without a reason , they dont need arears, unsocial behaviour they do not need to justify the eviction at all. This cannot be right in a country with a Housing Crisis To make an instant improvement in homelessness or potential homelessness and keep communities together Once they eviction takes place it often affects schooling,Doctors surgeries a persons place in the community We are the only European Country that allows renters to be treated so badly
