• Demand Walkers Produce Fully Recyclable Packaging Before 2025
I contacted Walkers regarding this, to which they replied that they’re “working tirelessly to tackle waste challenges and are committed to 100% recyclable, compostable or biodegradable packaging by 2025”. But as they already have compostable packs made from potato skins and discards, why will it take another 7 years to produce recyclable packs? The Walkers factory in Leicester produce 7,000,000 packets of crisps every DAY and sell 60,000,000 every WEEK! That’s over 20 BILLION crisp packets that will go to landfill before their target date of 2025. This is simply unacceptable.

  • Mandatory training in ALL areas of domestic abuse for Family courts &Cafcass
It is vital for victims and children’s voices to be heard, supported and truly understood. Only then can informed decisions be made for the people involved and safety be paramount. This is sadly not happening currently and the statistics continue to grow. Please see latest report on family courts and domestic abuse conducted by the APPG inquiry https://www.naccc.org.uk/downloads/NewsItems/APPG_Inquiry_report_Domestic_Abuse_Child_Contact_and_the_Family_Court.pdf We need to unite and help stamp out abuse and suport the victims and children when they need it the most. Thank you.

  • Stop Boots over-charging for vital health treatments
With the rise in demand for healthcare, and tight funding, the NHS is facing an existential challenge already. It should not need to face the rapacious greed of US-owned pharmaceutical companies.

  • Say no to parking charges in Brighouse
Over the years Calderdale has allowed many large retail outlets in Brighouse, Tesco, Salisbury's, Lidl, Boyes, B&M, Pets at Home M & Co and Wilkinson's in such a small town, the Business rates Calderdale will receive from these will be massive, only M & Co charge for parking to visit them, this with online shopping is making it harder for shops to stay open in Brighouse, hence so many charity shops that don't pay rates. Unless we want a town centre that is boarded up because shops cant make a living we all need to sign this petition, we have signed many partitions before to stop parking charges in Brighouse, WE NEED TO DO IT AGAIN. If Halifax can spend £20,000,000+? on the peace hall, who knows what Westgate arcade and the library cost (there not telling) to attract people to Halifax , Im sure we can have free parking to attract people to Brighouse.

  • Graffiti
There is a difference between Wall Art and Graffiti. Wall art can be appealing, carry a message, be artistic, thought provoking and belonging to the community...Graffiti is random, mostly personal to the Tag holder and basically ugly, pointless and represents the view of someone with a chip on their shoulder...It defaces other peoples property. With the vast number of visitors now coming to a great City which has pulled itself up from the depths of despair it is important to give these visitors a great and lasting impression of the city and it's structures, its buildings its character. You can't see this if it's covered in random pointless garbage.

  • Remove VAT from female sanitary products
Due to the new sugar tax, the government is set to make £250 million a year. The very most female sanitary products could make from VAT is £130 million a year, and that's if every woman in the UK needed them, which clearly isn't possible, but it shows the maximum amount they could possibly make. It's clear sugar tax will make up this difference and making money wasn't even its primary reason for it being implemented. It's obvious female sanitary products are not a luxury item, and women all over the globe need them. Being charged VAT on them is simply ludicrous. There is simply no excuse now for VAT being on female sanitary products anymore even at a reduced rate. Periods aren't a choice, and female sanitary products are necessary to deal with it. Women shouldn't be charged on a product they NEED - not WANT, NEED. It doesn't make sense, its obvious it doesn't make sense and now it doesn't make sense financially either.

  • Get serious about recycling.
When it comes to re-cycling, Gedling Borough Council rates a poor 260th out of 350 English local authorities. Gedling re-cycles only 36.7% of its domestic waste compared to the national average of 45.2%. Gedling’s announcement that it intends to be a ‘Plastic Clever Council’ is welcome but has to be seen in the context of its recent closure of 6 local ‘bring’ recycling sites and the earlier cancellation of its commercial recycling collection service.
