• Re-Development for Stallards Skate Park in Trowbridge
The young people of Trowbridge have moved forward over the last 10 years, as has scootering and skating in general, the park is not accessible to new riders as it is an extreme park and their is no information on the outside of the park to explain the safety aspect to the users of parents. The park has a lot of additional areas that could be easily developed to incorporate a better space for young people and help them from using streets to preform their tricks to increase their ability. The skate Park in Trowbridge is well used and with better facilities to a growing number of young people could be increased further.

  • Petition to improve the quality of Hostel style accommodation in Leeds
The number of people sleeping rough is increasingly becoming a national issue in the UK with figures rising for the seventh year from 1, 768 in 2010 to 4,751 in 2016. Leeds has also seen an increase in those sleeping rough with numbers increasing from 13 people in 2015 to 28 in 2017. Now this may not seem like this many but 28 people sleeping on the streets is still 28 people with nowhere to live, no access to electricity, clean water or food. Walking around Leeds it certainly seems like there are more than 28 people sleeping rough and with more people seeming to appear each week it is clear that there is nowhere else these people have to go or want to go. Upon a discussion with those sleeping rough Leeds City Council reported in its "Homeless Strategy 2016-19" that people were reluctant to spend a night in Leeds hostels and stating that the accommodation provided in Leeds acts as a barrier to getting off the streets. People don't want to sleep in Hostels, horror stories of people getting beaten up and the treatment they receive here put many people off staying in this form of accommodation. During the snow earlier this year many hostel in Leeds city centre found themselves massively over capacity and not able to deal with the numbers of people seeking refugee from the weather. This is the second year the weather has dropped below freezing causing severe snow in the city centre. Hostels and rough sleeping accommodation can't cope with the numbers of people they receive in these cold temperatures and can't get people to stay when there isn't an emergency weather warning. This just shows the issue which Leeds has with the quality of the hostels. A successful hostile will help people all year round not only when it is too dangerous or cold for people to sleep on the streets. Leeds City Council needs to look at the Hostels which are currently in operation in Leeds and bring them up to an acceptable standard of which rough sleepers want to spend the night. Communicating with those sleeping rough to improve them in a way which will encourage people to spend the night instead of choosing to spend the night on the streets over the hostels which can be found in Leeds.

  • LONG TERM TENANCY AND RIGHT TO BUY FOR ALL TENANT IN TEMPORARY ACCOMMODATION IN THE LAST 5 YEARS
It is important for our policy makers to think about families, youths and children when designing policies. Also, think about the long-term impact of this policy will have on families with low income. Economic development is beneficial however human development further help the government to produce economic stability and security. The current housing policy is a disaster to families like mine who are on low income, studying, working and in temporary accommodation with kids. The impact it has on children and relationship is terrible. Having to be in another type of fix term tenancy after moving from borough to boroughs or private to temporary is financially draining on household and future prospect. I want the council to give re-en state life-term tenancy with the right to buy for families in temporary accommodation and families on low income with kids. If the council doesn't have more home let them build more home or increase the current rent of tenant to be able to raise fund to build more homes. Cancelling life-term tenancy for young families is absolutely unfair, economic focus and damaging to community development of the borough. Thank you

  • Stop Advertising with Guns and Weapons
These images are plastered all over the tube, buses, bus shelters, newspapers, magazines etc. Subliminally de-sensitising young minds that this is ok and the norm. Young minds and easily manipulated minds that see the hero carries a gun or knife. There has been 11 fatal shootings already this year in London, and endless knife attacks resulting in fatalities not to mention acid attacks. Though this may not be considered an important change we need to change the influence culture has. We can't change the films and games themselves but we can change the way they are sold to us, glorifying killing. And these small changes will contribute to the change in society. I have started an instagram page documenting what I see called. https://www.instagram.com/gunsonthetube

  • Controlling the Controlled Parking in Tower Gardens
Back in 2014, the residents of Tower Gardens were open to the idea of a CPZ being introduced, on the basis that it would alleviate the parking concentration caused by visitors, Spurs supporters and local businesses. Essentially, allowing residents to move their vehicles without the concern of not being able to obtain parking shortly afterwards. Based on the information I have gathered, the residents of Tower Gardens were happy to have this CPZ introduced, if it would not incur an cost for residents to obtain a permit - which has been the case. However, the past year has seen an increase in vehicles parked in the area. It is believed this is due to the fact that Tottenham Hotspur have played the 2017/18 season, at Wembley. Therefore, the Event Day restriction would not come into enforcement - and as a result; visitors, local business owners, and commuters are parking their vehicles in the area. Which is making it difficult for residents to find parking within a reasonable distance of their properties.

  • Hold Durham UCU meeting prior to UCU Congress
This is important in order to allow regular members to be informed about and have a voice in the business which will take place at UCU Congress. In particular, the pensions dispute which we went on strike over is ongoing. It is vital that members stay engaged with the union's actions in relation to the dispute. We are the union.

  • Proposed Parking Restrictions on Union Street, Stow.
We wish to object to the proposed parking restrictions on the following grounds: 1 - Primarily Safety - the currently parked cars provide a very obvious traffic calming effect while the imposition of the restrictions would increase traffic speed and endanger local residents. 2 - The removal of the parking spaces would exacerbate the problem of the loss of all the parking we formerly enjoyed in the old Ashton House so that people particularly at the western end of Union Street frequently have to walk from the very opposite end of Union Street if they can find parking on the street at all. 3 - When the plans for the new estate were in planning and subject to consultation, traffic access to the estate was approved on the basis of the current layout. If it was acceptable then, why is it not acceptable now? 4 - As the meeting in February showed, the residents of Union Street are entirely against this proposed plan so for whose benefit is it?

  • Make our hospital car parks free
Most people visiting hospitals are either ill and therefore vulnerable or visiting a loved one. They are being punished by the car parking companies. These companies are often third parties not under the hospitals control and taking advantage of poorly people. The rise of hospital car parking charges is an an unaffordable level for many now. A 35 minute hospital visit to High Wycombe costs £3.50. For people on lower incomes or people visiting relatives with long term illnesses this is simply unfair and non sustainable. cool Greedy companies are taking advantage of people.

  • N.H.S HOSPITAL CAR PARKING CHARGES
This issue was brought up at my local Patient Practice Group of which I am Chairman. There were quite a number of instances reported by the committee who support this action unanimously. The following are two of my own experiences. 1. In December, 2017 I took my sister-in-law to Sunderland Hospital. She was unable to walk and there was no ambulance available. I parked at the accident & emergency and with my wife I got her out of the car and into a wheelchair. My wife pushed her into the hospital whilst I reversed my cat into a disabled parking bay. several days later I received a £70 fine Parking notice 2. In February 2018 i took my wife for a scan to North tees Hospital. After I dropped her off I parked my car and went to the parking meter. Unlike Sunderland their was a fee chargeable for disabled drivers. The first 20 minutes parking was free but after that there was a charge which if not paid was subject to a £90 fine. It is impossible to be able to assess that my wife would be able to receive her treatment within 20 minutes. I decided to pay for the parking. The cost was £3 for the first hour as well as for the next 11 hours. As it happened my wife did not have to wait and she had her scan and returned to the car. We were parked for exactly 26 minutes. I had paid the 12 hour fee for 6 minutes. I also was inconvenienced as I had no change and the meter did not take notes or give change. I had to go back into the hospital for change for the parking meter.
