Grammar Schools are socially regressive, unfair, and out-dated. Here in Cambridge we want a fair, properly-funded education system, to give every child a fair chance at life. Sign our petition to send a message to the Tory government and Tory-ran County council that we don't Grammar Schools in Cambridge.

Anyone with a bus pass who lives near the borders of Wales or Scotland and needs to visit or spend time in the adjoining country is unable to use their bus pass there, apart from probably only one linking route.

The reason? A huge rent increase by the council, which makes it impossible for the business to continue trading. So, rather than a busy barber shop, and regular rent, the council will now be lumbered with another empty shop unit. Why so sad? Because they've been cutting my hair, and hundreds of others for 32 years plus. The salon manager David, who has been with the business for 45 years has cut my hair since I was in my teens through many styles and fashions. A loss of valuable expertise. The salon was established at Anderston Cross, by Jack Green in 1923. The business moved to King Street, off Trongate, in the late 1960s, when the M8 tore the heart out of Anderston. STV and the city's papers covered the story when the business celebrated its 90th birthday.

'Herefordshire Transport Alliance' have teamed up with 'Rail and Bus for Herefordshire' campaign to promote alternative transport solutions to those currently being proposed by the Council, who are solely intent on building more and more roads instead of looking at more effective alternatives. The ‘Pre Metro’ light tram system, currently running in Stourbridge, is ideally suited to the size and layout of Hereford, It could advance the cause of a greener economy and be a ‘Feather in Hereford’s Cap.' It could play a major part in the County’s Economic Masterplan to enable everybody accessing Hereford, whether for employment, or use of its shops and services. With a Department for Transport funding (up to £27million) to be used on 'any' measures to relieve congestion in the South Wye area, the tram vision could be a more responsible, sustainable, and better spend than the obscenely ineffective and expensive Southern Link Road – a.k.a. 'the road to nowhere.' It is not too late for the council to look at superior options for the majority to access, rather than encourage more people to continue using their cars for short journeys and/or transpose motorists from one road onto another. As an additional solution to Hereford’s transport problems it would have enormous advantages as a cleaner, efficient solution, and, if constructed alongside safe pedestrian and cycle routes, be accessible for all, including students, women and older people who feel insecure walking along a route where crime is a known hazard. It is important as people with learning disabilities are needing to feel that they are equal as humans and not made to feel worthless

Since 2012 pet abandonment has been on the increase, according to just one survey reported by The Dogs Trust it is estimated that, with dogs alone, in 2015 over 47,000 owners have abandoned their dogs in the past twelve months (according to the annual Stray Dog Survey by Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity) Dogs Trust questioned all local authorities across the UK as part of the annual Stray Dog Survey and 2015 findings reveal that 47,596 dogs were left behind in council pounds, where they remained unclaimed by their owners. Of which it is known an unnecessary 5,142 healthy dogs were euthanised between 2014-2015 EQUAL TO 1 DOG EVERY 2 HOURS (this does not include dogs who didn't pass through the local authority, or cats, or other pets that are also abandoned and there is either no home found or basically no one wants them or can cope with more pets or pets who's owners request euthanasia http://www.telegraph.co.uk/pets/news-features/a-vets-most-difficult-task-euthanising-healthy-pets/ ). Domestic pets are all our responsibility as sentient creatures. With better, slightly clearer and robust legislation and higher taxation and compulsory prison sentences it's been shown that the number of abandoned dogs (in particular) but other animals too can be reduced. I would like to petition the UK Department for Education to support the launch of a recent global education platform known as PEER. As one who is working closely with refugees and their children, I would like to wholeheartedly support the launch of this platform called Platform for Education in Emergencies Response. Working together hand in hand with the IIE (Institute of International Education) in New York, PEER aims to connect refugee students with university scholarships, resources and other higher education opportunities that they deserve without having a need to buy a diploma just to further their studies. A brainchild of the Catalyst Trust for Universal Education, PEER is fast gaining support from various parties. Former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown has been in discussion with the UN to better understand the emergency needs of 57 million refugee schoolchildren and youths who are on the verge of attending University without the intention to buy a diploma. The ongoing refugee crisis is something these children can do without, and if there is anything to alleviate their condition without exacerbating the situation, this global education platform would be it. In Syria alone, as many as 150,000 youths who are on the brink of university life have had their progress disrupted by war and persecution. That's 150,000 young impressionable lives stuck without higher education. Without the need to buy a diploma, refugee students can expect to benefit from the platform dispensing university scholarships and placement, translation services, higher learning resources and support or counselling. Therefore, I hope the UK Department for Education would consider backing this platform and to spread word about it helping refugee students. Thank you for lending me your ears. Brook Arnold

People are having their lives wrecked simply because they've either had their mobile phone stolen or cloned or they've been tricked into calling a fraudulent number. The telecom companies are quite happy to pay the insane call charges to criminal gangs because they then charge their customers for the cost of the call.

To save a generation from the onslaught and horrors of , amongst others , Western intervention in Syria.They dont need to see war.All children deserve a childhood without fear. Imagine your child sat in the rubble of your own home..unable to sleep at night due to the sounds of war. Would you walk past these children in your own street?

Disability and especially persons in wheel chairs need access more convenient to local shops. A disabled person driving with a blue Badge has difficulty finding places to Park and Surrey County Council action in Removing High street disabled Parking Bays is immoral. Our friends had driven down from London to Cobham ---could not find a disabled bay for Parking in Cobham -high street.
