• Torbay about to Fleece Disabled people - Will your council do the same?
If Torbay council can get this through, then every council in the land will be punishing the disabled and poor families, for being poor. What is being proposed? They are proposing to make ten changes that are listed below to the current scheme from 1 April 2017: Reducing the maximum level of support to 55% of the council tax charge Restrict the maximum level of support to the equivalent of a band C property charge Savings limit of £3,000 Removal of the family premium Reducing backdating for new claims to one month Basing the reduction on a set minimum income for self-employed earners after one year’s self-employment Reducing the period a person can be absent from Great Britain and still receive a reduction to four weeks Removing the work related activity component for new ESA applicants Limiting the number of dependent children within the calculation to a maximum of two Removing entitlement to Severe Disability Premium where another person is paid Universal Credit (Carers Element) The last one is really poisonous, remove entitlement to Carers!!! Please spread this story, you never know when you may be struggling with sickness. Thank you for your time.

  • REOPEN QUEEN VICTORIA HOSPITAL
Its important to the community to have its own hospital. It had one for many years, there are more people living in Morecambe now. Having to travel to Lancaster for treatment is very difficult. Lancaster is struggling to cope with numbers and if Queen V Hospital could treat people it would be much better.

  • save our public parks
Parks belong to us all - they are a freely available resource. They facilitate exercise, social interaction, play, opportunities for peace and tranquillity. In today's increasingly urban- centric England, they are increasingly valuable.

  • Save lives @ Cambersands Now! Lifeguards needed as death tally rises.
Such patrols can save lives when every minute counts! better to be safe than sorry. Give us what common sense shows us is obvious to all. A full time lifeguard patrol, for next time it could be a three year old toddler who's life is claimed by the rip tides at Cambersands. If nothing is done people will remember & eventually they will stop coming to a beach that has a record for claiming so many lives. When will common sense prevail. The visitors of this beach each day bring much needed money to the local economy which helps to pay the rates your council needs to fulfil its duties each year! there has to be a way to get full time lifeguards on this beach even three would do with the balance made up of volunteers so how about doing what is right & save a life by doing the correct thing! It will help to keep the tourist coming the wrong choice will see a deserted beach next year!

  • Save Bovey Tracey Hospital
Community Hospitals provide health and medical services such as minor injuries departments and hospital beds for those well enough to be released from General Hospitals but still too sick to return to their own homes. These hospitals act as intermediaries, providing care for some of the most vulnerable people in south devon in particular the old and infirm. Beds in community hospitals mean General Hospitals are able to move recovering patients enabling them to treat more critical patients. Losing these beds will only serve to bed block General Hospitals, such as Torbay, Exeter & Plymouth, leading to poorer service. When it comes to Medical treatment this can be the difference in providing outstanding care (saving lives), or being prevented from treating the sick or injured (resulting in preventable deaths and suffering). My understanding is that Bovey Tracey Community Hospital has been temporarily closed for some time now, and unless action is taken now, it will be made permanent under these proposals.

  • SAVE HATTON GARDEN
Hatton Garden is the centre of the UK's diamond trade with over 300 businesses and 30 local shops, it has carried a long tradition of craft skills since the 19th century. But unfortunately the Landlords of several workshops have joined together and decided this December they'll be raising the rent to unaffordable levels. There are several workshops in Hatton Garden who practice a craft that is dying out, there is little interest to be had by a younger generation but the workshops still offer apprenticeships to pass down the skills and craft necessary. Many of these workshops have been informed by their landlords that on December 2016 their rent will be going up from £7,000 per month to £14,000! An unbelievable hike in rent which sadly will see the demise of many of these workshops, as many of the crafts people are old and haven't the time or money to find a new area to relocate to. I believe it is a wonderful thing that you need a ring polished or a diamond to be set, a ring to be fixed or resized or to commission an engraving as a gift, you only have to travel to Hatton Garden and visit several workshops to get what you want done. However, if plans go ahead, next year you'll be looking at those workshops closed and replaced with more student housing and luxury apartment accommodation, whilst the majority of the workshops will just disappear and alongside them an entire trade. Hatton Garden, with it's rich historic tapestry blending monarchy, religion, trade, craft and culture, is a bleeding heart worth saving. E-mail Tulip Siddiq, Keir Starmer and Sadiq Khan, we have until December before the rent hike, hopefully this can help. http://www.tulipsiddiq.com/contact-me/ http://www.keirstarmer.com/contact-me http://www.sadiqkhan.org.uk/get_help A brief insight to this story was reported in August and can be read below: http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/hatton-garden-jewellery-district-faces-extinction-over-crossrail-rent-rises-a3321216.html

  • Automatic-compensation-train-delays
The train company is not being discouraged from providing a poor and costly service, as passengers like myself, are too exhausted to go through the laborious procedure of trying to get compensation, after a long tiring journey. Virgin hold onto this money, are not incentivised to invest and improve the service, which leads to continued misery for passengers.

  • Make it illegal for computer and mobile programs and apps to gather unnecessary information
This is important for privacy and security and to prevent spying, the formation of a big brother state, the sale of such information or use of information to gain unfair market advantage. It should be noted that if information is taken or permission obtained for information to be taken which is not necessary for the program or app to function, then it must be taken for some other purpose not advertised to the user and presumably not for the user's benefit.

  • Brexit - Protect the social dimension!
Could you please make a commitment that the social dimension element of EU legislation/regulations currently incorporated in UK law protecting the rights of workers in the EU is safeguarded and not eroded following the exit from the EU. Could you set out the process the government intends to use to review the current EU/EC Regulations and Directives for instance that form part of the social policy agenda, and how it intends to safeguard and protect existing rights for workers in the UK. It is important that following the exit from the EU, that the current safeguards (headings listed below) are protected, and where possible improved upon. Free movement Fair pay Improved working conditions Social security protection Freedom of association and collective bargaining Training provision Equal treatment for men and women Industrial democracy/Collective bargaining Health protection and workplace safety Protection for children, older people and disabled people

  • SAVE SHEERWATER'S GREEN SPACES AND RECREATION GROUND
Our green spaces and recreation ground are valuable community assets and the recreation ground is vital as it is designated Flood zone category 2, protecting the local community and surrounding areas from risk of flooding. Our playing fields and park are used by many on a daily basis. They are not only used by Sheerwater residents. The recreation ground serves a much wider area. The recreation ground has a large park area for children, skate ramps, cricket nets and a large green space popular for football and dog walking. Should the regeneration go through on the proposed scale, the borough stands to lose the recreation ground. It will be replaced by smaller 'pocket parks' and a swale which will collect water to protect the area from flooding. The smaller areas of green will be far too small to play a game of football. The current plans show that Sheerwater will lose well over a third of its green space. A leisure centre opening within a local school will be accessible to the public outside of school hours, and the facilities will be available 'to hire', which suggests that we will have to pay to use facilities which are currently free and accessible 24 hours a day at our recreation ground. We do not believe this is an acceptable replacement and want to keep our green spaces. If we were to lose the recreation ground, the nearest park of a similar size is almost 2 miles away (in West Byfleet) for some residents. Please sign and support us in saving our recreation ground and green spaces.
