Full transparency of Facebook pagesFar too many people can hide behind Facebook pages and are allowed to behave however they see fit, facing no consequences for harassing innocent people. By Facebook enhancing the page transparency feature to include a list of admins this would hopefully make it more difficult to hide behind a page to troll individuals or organisations.204 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Claire Lewis

Permanently cancel the Jeremy Kyle ShowFor years, the Jeremy Kyle Show has turned the real-life suffering of people into entertainment. Now, after the death of a guest, ITV have suspended the show - and calls are growing for it to be cancelled permanently. The Jeremy Kyle Show is famous for humiliating people on national television with lie detector and DNA tests. Guests are goaded into arguing about personal conflicts and relationship problems in front of a studio audience. A judge described the show as a “human form of bear baiting". Sign the petition and tell ITV to end the Jeremy Kyle Show for good.74,665 of 75,000 SignaturesCreated by 38 Degrees

Make University Avenue safe for cyclingThe University of Glasgow is spending £1 billion redeveloping the site of the former Western Infirmary and as part of this they have been allowed to redevelop University Avenue. However, current plans for the redesign of this key arterial street do not include protected space for cycling. It would be a tragedy for the future of a safe linked up network of direct cycling routes in our city if University Avenue does not make space for protected cycling - for the staff and students who travel to the University, for the commuters who use the direct route to pass through, for parents taking their children to school or to the park, and for everyone who would like to chose to cycle but won’t because they don't feel safe sharing road space with heavier and faster moving vehicles. Both Glasgow City Council and the University of Glasgow have declared that there is a climate emergency, but neither appear prepared to turn those words into concrete actions by taking seriously the need for a shift in how we travel. GoBike have been asking both Glasgow City Council and the University of Glasgow over the last six months to alter plans to include segregated cycle lanes. They have been met with stubborn resistance from both, with repeated assertions that painted lines on the road will make things “safer for cycling”, and even stating that paint is segregation. There is now a Traffic Regulation Order being consulted on and we need to tell them that the current proposals are simply not good enough for the following reasons: - Painted cycle lanes on University Avenue are dangerous as they legitimise dangerous close passes. - The design of the proposed painted cycle lanes, which end abruptly, is dangerous. - Painted cycle lanes on University Avenue do not prevent waiting, loading or parking. - The plans are in contravention of the Sustainable Transport Hierarchy. - The plans fail to recognise Climate Change Emergency status. - The plans fail to recognise the Colleges Cycling Route status of University Avenue. - The plans fail to recognise recommendations made within the Connectivity Commission Report. We need University Avenue to have segregated cycle lanes along its full length to make it safe for people of all ages and abilities to cycle on, and to encourage the shift in transport we need to see, if we are to act on the Climate Emergency. Please add your name to help us show public support for a safer University Avenue. For more detailed information on the reasons outlined above please visit https://www.gobike.org/it's-time-for-action-on-university-avenue-8474801 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Go Bike

Save Kingston's Rose TheatreDue to Council cuts, the beloved Rose Theatre may be forced to close: the Council "will strip the Rose Theatre of its £265,000 annual funding by 2022 and will not replace a £147,000 bursary, which it paid the final instalment of this year".(1) This is at a time when the Council is ploughing millions into its reserves and raising its Councillors' allowances. We the undersigned know that Kingston Council is not bankrupt; it has the money to save the Rose -- the cultural heart of Kingston -- and must not cut its funding. I personally visit The Rose a lot with my wife. There have been some fantastic productions and it's a great night out that's affordable! It has strong connections to organisations across Kingston, including with the University. It really is a centre of culture and would be a tragedy to lose it. Pause Bristol's 5G RolloutCities and towns around the world, including Brussels, Geneva, Florence and the XII Municipality of Rome are calling for a halt to 5G. US Senators and academics are warning against the untested technology and hundreds of scientists, doctors and leaders worldwide are appealing urgently for an immediate cease to the use of 5G's high frequency microwave radiation. Several coalitions of scientists including experts in the fields of biochemistry and radiation have warned that 5G technology is harmful to humans and all living things. The US group Physicians for Safe Technology state ‘there is convincing emerging scientific evidence causing great concern for the environment, with harm to mammals, insects and bacteria ... 5G technology will also consume significant amounts of energy, contrary to global climate goals.’ In their referenced document they state: Frequencies: 4G uses several different frequencies from 750MHz to about 2,400-5,000 MHz(2.4 GHz to 5 GHz- typical Wi Fi and cell phone) – 5G(proposed 5th generation) uses10GHz to 300GHz Wavelengths: 4G electromagnetic wavelengths are inches to feet long – 5G frequencies are in centimeters to millimeters Depth of Skin and Body Absorption: 4G microwave radiation (2.4GHz and 5 GHz) passes through bodies and the energy is absorbed by anything that contains water (can’t cook dry rice in a microwave oven), while 5G (5th Generation) penetrates only the outer layers of the skin in humans Distance Radiation Travels: 4G can travel dozens of miles in a line of sight and if poles are placed high. In experiments 5G can travel a few miles but is easily blocked by objects, trees and plants thus poles are planned for every 300 feet in cities Mechanisms of Harm: 4G emissions can cause oxidation of tissues (93 of 100 studies), 5G radiation can have its effect through heat (tissue destruction), through a resonance effect of increased vibration in an object the size of the wavelengths, and at low power levels through signaling of skin structures that can affect metabolism, the nervous system, the endocrine system, the reproductive system (declassified military studies) Amount of Testing Done: 4G technology has been tested by the military and by international scientists with an abundance of studies showing broad harm to animals, humans, plants, insects and bacteria. 5G technology has been studied by some in the military showing broad harm and some newer studies are showing damage to insects, tissue burns and overheating with streaming of data, but there has been no safety testing of 5G before it is rolled out. The 5G Appeal, signed by 233 scientists, states that “The current ICNIRP ”safety guidelines” are obsolete. All proofs of harm mentioned above arise although the radiation is below the ICNIRP “safety guidelines”. Therefore new safety standards are necessary. The reason for the misleading guidelines is that “conflict of interest of ICNIRP members due to their relationships with telecommunications or electric companies undermine the impartiality that should govern the regulation of Public Exposure Standards for non-ionizing radiation”. They state 'The 5G Appeal was prepared in 2017 by scientists and doctors who are urgently calling for the EU to halt the roll out of 5G due to serious potential health effects from this new technology. 5G will substantially increase exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) on top of the 2G, 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi, etc. for telecommunications already in place. RF-EMF has been proven to be harmful for humans and the environment.' Radiation expert Professor Emeritus Joel Moskowitz cites studies including: 'Such MMW effects as alterations of cell growth rate and UV light sensitivity, biochemical and antibiotic resistivity changes in pathogenic bacteria, as well as many others are of potential significance for safety standards, but even local and short-term exposures were reported to produce marked effects. It should also be realized that biological effects of a prolonged or chronic MMW exposure of the whole body or a large body area have never been investigated. Safety limits for these types of exposures are based solely on predictions of energy deposition and MMW heating, but in view of recent studies this approach is not necessarily adequate.” (Pakhomov et al., 1998) Martin Pall, Professor Emeritus of Biochemistry at Washington State University lists four main dangers of 5G to humans: 1) an extraordinary number of antennae are required, 2) high outputs are needed for penetration, 3) pulsation levels will be very high, and 4) 5G will have an impact on the human body’s cellular electrical field. He warns that pulsed radiation used by 5G satellites is biologically active and can produce radiation effects deep within human bodies. The biological effects of 5G microwave radiation are not yet well-studied enough to be fully clear. It is not until the population has been exposed to these for years that we will have more comprehensive data. However, the warnings from scientists and the research so far indicate that it is possible or probable that 5G technology may do much damage to living organisms. We believe Bristol City Council should invoke the precautionary principle and pause the rollout of this as yet untested technology. REFERENCES Neufeld E & Kuster N (2018). Stop the St Philip's Marsh Gas PlantThe gas plant is 90 m from a school in an area which already has dangerous levels of air pollution. Bristol Council passed a climate emergency motion in November 2018 and has committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2030. By approving a power generation plant that burns fossil fuels the council is complicit with corporations that are driving the climate crisis. UK Parliament declared climate emergency on May 1st 2019.1,326 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by LILY LEE

Save Osler Street Park from being built on.Osler Street Park is an extremely important and well used green space and play area provision for our local community. It is well used by all local residents including students, families, teenagers and young children. It is a well designed, safe space with easy access and will not be able to just be replaced. The play park and Multi Use Games Area provide an important leisure and recreation site which children and adults alike can use to exercise and socialise for free, thereby promoting a healthy lifestyle. The surrounding green space (including trees) is an extremely valuable green site and open space which should be protected. It also provides recreational and exercise opportunities and helps to contribute towards cleaner air for our community. The local community do not want this precious space taken away from us. We believe that any development or building on this site goes directly against the policy for promoting and enhancing a green infrastructure network in the City (TP7) which is detailed in the Birmingham Development plan.1,101 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Alison Read
