• Save BBC Radio Lancashire
BBC local radio stations, like BBC Radio Lancashire, play a vital role in reflecting local experiences and delivering local news. The BBC is having to make these decisions because the government are forcing it to make cuts by freezing the licence fee without committing extra funding. Please give the BBC the support and funding that it needs to make sure it continues to provide distinctive and genuinely local radio services with content that reflects and represents people and communities from all corners of the UK.

  • Save Hampstead Antique & Craft Emporium
The Hampstead Antique & Craft Emporium is of significant cultural importance and is now recognised by Camden Council as an Asset of Community Value (ACV). The antique market is one of the oldest indoor markets in London and has drawn visitors from around the world to the heart of Hampstead for almost 60 years. The market is currently home for around 25 small businesses, and helps secure a livelihood for antique dealers, artists, vintage clothing sellers, jewellery specialists, repair and craftspeople. It provides a centre for the community to gather and an attractive destination for tourists. It encourages an appreciation of our past and retains old world charm in a village whose commercial streets are becoming the sole domain of estate agents and prohibitively expensive clothing chains. It provides affordable second hand items, repair services and showcases craftsmanship, quality and inspiring design built to last. This contrasts sharply with the unsustainable fast fashion and single use items generally available, all part of the throw away culture that is destroying our environment. Our market is based on reuse and repair, an ethos that should be encouraged and promoted for the good of the environment. Help us preserve the market at the Emporium and stand against its redevelopment as luxury homes and businesses. Stop some of our last small shops being squeezed out of the village. Please sign our petition. Donations are needed to Save Hampstead Emporium for the community: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/savehampsteademporium

  • Save Our Cycling Centre
This will enable the return of a safe cycle space for all, and for the centre to be run for the community, by the community. The Glasgow Green cycling centre is not just a patch of ground with bikes on it. It is nothing without the workers, volunteers and service-users who made it what it was: A safe, inclusive community which provided a shared experience for all. We are campaigning to recreate that cycling centre - for cycling lessons, led rides, disability cycling, bike repair and volunteering. We want a safe space for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy cycling. Free Wheel North sacked its workforce with immediate effect on 21st September. They claimed that there was no funding left to pay wages and that the cycling centre was making a loss of £10,000 a month. But the financial figures they provided changed - literally - from one day to the next. Staff were sacked before they had a chance to challenge the final set of figures. Committed volunteers with years of experience were dumped. The centre is now being run by Free Wheel North Directors and inexperienced volunteers. This needs to change. Free Wheel North should be held to account for undemocratic governance. Prior to the redundancies, other organisations were interested in taking over the lease to keep the staff in their jobs, and to keep the volunteers in their posts. They are still interested in taking over the lease and running it properly, with due care to Health and Safety, PVG checks, welfare of staff, volunteers and service users, and providing a safe, inclusive environment. The Office of Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) has an open inquiry into FWN due to the number of concerns raised throughout 2022.

  • The English Football League should not be sponsored by a gambling company
The government must take immediate action on the relationship between gambling and football, following the revelation that the EFL sponsorship deal with Sky Bet has resulted in clubs taking a cut of their own fans’ gambling losses. The largest perpetrator of gambling harm is not football itself, it’s gambling companies who exploit the sport and fans for obscene profit. The Sky Bet sponsorship of the football league means that all 72 clubs are essentially forced to advertise gambling on their shirts, in their stadiums and on their websites – even if they don’t want to. This is unacceptable and this latest development is the final straw in a relationship that has clearly gone too far. Only last year, Sky Betting and Gaming was fined £1.2million by the Gambling Commission for sending 100 “free spins” to self-excluded gamblers, many of whom were recovering from gambling disorder. We urge you to legislate against gambling companies from sponsoring our national sport. There are now multiple EFL clubs such as Luton Town, Bolton Wanderers, Tranmere Rovers and Forest Green Rovers who deserve praise and recognition for thriving without gambling sponsorship – it's time for every club to do the same. With the vast amount of gambling profits coming from a small percentage of customers, we know much of this money will come from addiction, from destroyed families and from those who have taken their life due to gambling. There are millions of people either at risk or already addicted to gambling in the UK and many more being severely harmed by a gambler’s addiction. Worse still, Public Health England estimates there are 409 yearly gambling-related deaths in England alone, more than one every day. It is undeniable that football is so often the starting point that draws young people into years of harm for them and their loved ones. Football brings joy to fans and communities. But benefiting directly from the promotion of an addictive product is at odds with this commendable work.

  • Save the seating area at Gingeros
The area outside Gingeros coffee is a very popular place with visitors and locals to be able to sit and chat while having a coffee watching the dolphins in the bay. The removal of the seats would have a detrimental effect on the tourism industry as tourists would find elsewhere to visit and locals would not have a communal area to sit and meet for a chat and coffee which could impact their mental health. We need the tourists and locals to get involved in order to save this much needed area in the village.

  • Battle for Trevalga - Save A Unique Cornish Hamlet and Keep People's Homes Safe
Trevalga is a living piece of our shared history, a medieval parish largely unchanged. The sale risks that being lost, as well as many people being made homeless during a housing crisis and a community being torn apart. The Gerald Curgenven Will Trust may be small however it should operate to the same standards as all UK charities, and there are serious concerns about how this Will Trust, and the Manor of Trevalga, have been managed.

  • Scrap unfair ticket price hikes after the Oasis fiasco
Tickets for Oasis much anticipated reunion tour went on sale on Saturday morning with unprecedented demand. But once fans had got to the front of the virtual queue they saw  tickets had risen unexpectedly as a result of Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing policy. Dynamic pricing are standard tickets which increase in price due to supply and demand, similar to those you could expect to see on airline websites. This unfair system meant thousands of Oasis fans missed out with tickets priced at £350, up from £135 when the sale began. The Government have announced they will look into the use of "dynamic pricing" with a consultation starting in the autumn.  This is not a one off and is being used for the sale of multiple artists’ shows. This new system may be run by official websites but effectively acts like a glorified ticket tout.

  • Double Yellow Lines At Westover Road/Northdown Hill, Broadstairs
Please help us to have some traffic measures for this junction to ensure all can use the road safely. Drivers don't want to cause accidents but unless action is taken lives could be lost. Improvements are urgently needed. Those relying on the bus for transport often cannot cross the road and have to wait until another bus comes along. Anyone going to the Cabin Cafe, Revolution, KCC Social Services is at risk trying to access them at peak times.

  • Petition for getting Mangrove Restaurant listed as a heritage building
The Mangrove was a hub of black resistance in 1970. Activists organised a march to protest police harassment but were arrested for incitement to riot. The trial of the Mangrove 9 led to the first Judicial admission of police racism in Britain. The building should be preserved and memorialised as a place of historic interest. This petition will be sent to English Heritage to support the application for listed status. Help to support the application to English Heritage. Black British history is an integral part of British history and must not be marginalised.
