  • Save our lollipop man for Sutton Manor Primary
Our school is on a very busy road with links to the motorway and link road near by. Traffic seem to use this road a lot as a short to these routes. I feel our children will be in danger and many fatalities will occur? If we lose him .

  • We want our recycling services to be better in Wiltshire (don't close down our recycling centres!)
We love recycling and being an environmentally friendly and thoughtful to our environment. We want our recycling services to allow us to be passionate about our green space and protecting them too. But Wiltshire council do not allow us to recycle plastic other than plastic bottles from our home's. We know that more plastics can be recycled and that this can be cost effective in providing further energy Collections are every week, but recycling is collected once every 2 weeks. We want to recycle more and not have full recycling bins stopping us from recycling more. Wiltshire has two Anaerobic Digesters that are capable of handling contaminated food waste, yet food waste this being transported to Slough.* No food waste is being collected from our home's, despite these Anaerobic Digesters and the high value for money from food waste And today we found out that although Wiltshire council has a limited number of House Hold Recycling Centres that allow recycling of higher grade plastics, they've announced the recycling centre in Tisbury will be shut on 21July 2017 as " it is no longer cost effective to continue to provide this service when Wiltshire residents are now able to recycle the same items at the kerbside". Because the people of Wiltshire our so passionate about recycling we manage to achieve over 50% of waste being recycled. But the above is preventing us from being able to increase that number. Please sign to ask for: 1. recycling of plastics at kerbside 2. weekly recycling collection 3. food waste recycling 4. stop the closure of recycling centres (starting with Tisbury) 5. Wiltshire council to use AD in Westbury not Lakeside near Slough Source: *Tracy Cater of Wiltshire council "Wiltshire Council delivers 50,000 tonnes of non-recycled waste (which includes some food waste) each year to the Lakeside Energy from Waste Facility near Slough. A further 60,000 tonnes per annum is delivered to the Mechanical Biological Treatment facility in Northacre, Westbury"

  • Bring back the Brocante
The greater business community of Glastonbury gains a badly needed increase in revenue due to the Glastonbury Brocante Fair. Local hotels, B&B's, retailers, pubs, cafes, craft makers and artists all benefit from the huge influx of visitors to the fair. The loss of this fair will have a negative financial effect on the whole Town and the Mendip region beyond. The majority of traders at the fair are from this local community. Glastonbury Town Council has a responsibility to restore this fair.

  • Make Bonham Road Resident only Parking
Having parents park their car on any bit of space/ pavement they find is dangerous, accidents are occuring it's making it even more difficult to cross the road to get to the school. Children and adults that walk to school are almost getting knocked down by the people pulling up on to the pavements. It makes the road much too busy and puts people at risk.

  • Theresa May: Review Trump's UK state visit invitation
Donald Trump's ill-judged, offensive and divisive response to 3/5/17, and his internet harassment of London's democratically elected Mayor, disqualify him for the honour of a state visit. This petition calls on Theresa May to invite the elected representatives of the UK Government to review its offer of a state visit to Donald Trump, in response to the offence that Trump's comments on 3/5/17 have caused to huge numbers of people within the communities of London and the UK; most importantly, those directly affected by the terrorist attacks.

  • Stop the demolition of Crawley Town Hall
    • Crawley Town Hall is a significant twentieth-century building worthy of preservation; it is the public face of the New Town and as such has iconic status. • The interiors are particularly well designed and represent the best of the era, particularly the early elements of ‘Minimalism’ • The loss of this building would be to lose an important example of iconic new town design with a high quality of both materials and detail • Of even greater loss would be that of the work of a significant architect and interior designer, Max Clendinning, who’s interior design works have been an influence on design to the present day • Crawley has historical importance as one of the first post-war New Towns to be planned • Crawley’s design principal is open, low rise and airy • The demolition is to make way for three 9 -10 storey tower blocks of flats and offices. Completely out of character with the ideas and history of the town • A new Town Hall is simply a waste of money and a destruction of our heritage

  • AN ENGLISH/WELSH TRULY WALKING RIGHT TO ROAM
WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, DEMAND A TRULY, UNIVERSAL RIGHT TO ROAM SIMILAR TO THE SCOTTISH 2003 LEGISLATION. The English and Welsh countryside needs to be opened up for recreation and leisure. Walking/rambling is one of the top pastimes and it is very important for mental and physical health (e.g. combatting Depression, obesity). Walkers/ramblers greatly respect and value wildlife and the British countryside. Many species are facing extinction. Former Minister of State for The Environment, Labour’s Left Wing (the late) Michael Meacher’s Right to Roam policy (2000 Act) needs to be extended so that anyone can (responsibly) walk on any “cart” tracks and farm land (subject to exceptions), akin to Scotland’s 2003 legislation. Michael’s Act only provided limited access to the countryside, via relatively small areas called “Access Land.” Michael also created the South Downs National Park. This has been its saviour, as it protects the beautiful Downs from the current ravages to the countryside by almost unfettered developments. Changes in the Planning Laws (and Government policy) unleashed the developers. They love to build upon Green Field Sites, often in beautiful rural locations, to maximise profits. The unique British countryside is a major attraction for the Tourist Industry. Greater local access to the countryside, generally, should reduce the stress on the National Parks (e.g. The Lake District) through overuse (e.g. erosion of foot paths). There should be greater financial support for environmental groups, conservationists, rural education and the farm industry, especially small farmers. This would be part of the “deal.” Historically, under the Enclosure Acts since the 18th century, the “gentry” and landowners “stole” the land from the “common people.” True Right to Roam would give some recompense for these past injustices. Arguably, many farms have been bought over and over again by the Public Purse, through subsidies. Since the 19th Century, there was a strong lobby for the Nationalisation of land (Fabian pamphlet 1958), although this is not the aim of this petition. Although aimed to be discussed in Parliament, political parties might wish to include the principles behind this petition in their manifestos. Vic Parks June 2017
