  • Change the name of Latimer Road station to Grenfell
The fire at Grenfell tower saw a tragic loss of life, innocent people dying in the most horrific of circumstances. I propose that Latimer Road Underground Station should be renamed in honour of those that have suffered, and to the lessons we must take forward. A permanent renaming would see future generations being aware of the history of the area. London has Monument station which is a testament to those that died in the great fire of London of 1666, an event that shook the city to its core. The current name of Latimer Road is misleading. Latimer Road is located 5 minutes from where the station is, I therefore see no reason why such a change could not come about. The shell Grenfell Tower is located 100m from the station, the train line passes by it . We should not try to block out the horrors but look forward and work together. Efforts are on going to safeguard our families at this time but we must be wise to our choices and make the world a safer place. The renaming to Grenfell would give some permanence those that died in the fire.

  • Do not renew Geoffrey Boycott's employment contract for his recent racist comment
We need to challenge casual racism, especially from respected figures, such as Geoffrey Boycott. Such attempts at humour, no matter where the offence takes place, undermine efforts to create a more equal society, in which respect is due to all. The BBC should apply its equality policies consistently, irrespective of how long a person has worked for them. The Black and White Minstrel Show, in which white performers appeared with blacked out faces, ended in 1978, because it was felt to be offensive and inconsistent with British values then. The BBC Code of Conduct states in Part 1.3 Treating everyone equally "We don’t tolerate discrimination of any kind, and we speak up when we see it. We’ll take disciplinary action against anyone who crosses the line, including firing them for gross misconduct, if it’s serious."

  • Bring Back Bailey Park Swimming Pool #BringItBack
A new swimming pool in Bailey Park, would not only benefit the people of Abergavenny itself, but also the people of Monmouthshire and even those further afield. It would serve as a strong attraction for visitors to Abergavenny and provide happy memories for our future generations.

  • Save Notting Hill police station
Notting Hill police station serves all of North Kensington and is situated less than a mile from the Grenfell Tower area. It has been, and still is, an important support centre for the residents and communities affected by the most devastating disaster this nation has experienced in decades. By closing the police station and relocating its staff 1.3 miles further south, people in the north of the borough will feel even more alienated. In addition, Portobello Road, the home of the world’s largest antiques market, is a few blocks from the station. It is visited by millions of Londoners and tourists each year. Also, Kensington and Chelsea has the second highest crime rate of all London boroughs. and of the current 73 police stations in London, Notting Hill is the 16th most visited by the public for reporting a crime. As the borough commander, Chief Superintendent Ellie O’Connor, said at a hastily organised public consultation meeting on 15 August: “If ever there is a time when we should be supporting this borough, it is now” – and keeping the only remaining policing station in the north of the borough is critical in achieving this. And what will happen to the old Victorian police station building if it is closed? The Chelsea police station was sold in December 2015 to a tax haven company for £40 million, which within just a few months sold it on to an investment company in the UAE for at least £50 million (the exact sales figure is a secret). That company plans to turn the site into yet another luxury flat development. We foresee a similar destiny for Notting Hill police station if it is sold as planned. Please sign this petition to save Notting Hill police station! In response to government cuts to the Metropolitan Police budget of £600 million since 2010, the number of police stations open to the public in London have already been reduced from 149 to 73. To resolve a further government budget reduction of £400 million during the next four years, it is now proposed to reduce those 73 to 32 – and Notting Hill police station is one of those proposed to be closed down and sold off. The Kensington police station would then be the only remaining police station in the Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. According to the budget cut proposal, all boroughs except Westminster will only retain one police station each. The loss of police stations is to be compensated by the creation of a better police website and by providing each ward with two patrolling ward officers instead of one. However, these will only patrol their wards during office hours. We therefore demand that the RBKC Council lobbies central government for funds to keep Notting Hill police station open.

  • Fight for our Fields
All over Britain cash strapped local authorities are selling off playing fields to companies for housing to be built. South Tyneside is no exception. Our green spaces are vanishing. South Tyneside has one of the lowest amounts of green space in the country. 46% of south tyneisde is built on comapred to a 6% national average. Our school plyaing fields and leisure facilities are important to our wellbeing. Brinkburn School Community fields are essential to the survival of a lot of grass roots sport in South Shields. The fields are used by Football, Rugby, Athletics, Archery and more and are an essential resource to ensure local people of all ages have the opportunity to stay active and healthy. Support our campaign to save these playing fields; we need them now and as an investment in all of our futures.

  • Campaign for Outdoor Gym in Sir John McDougal Park, Westferry Road, E14
The benefits and reasons to have public outdoor gyms in parks are well established. The outdoor public gyms enhance the local area, have positive impact on the public health locally and can improve the quality and versatility of its green and open spaces. However, the decision where to install these must be made in a transparent manner by the Mayor and the Council. Research conducted by Liverpool John Moores University found: • 75% or more of participants believed that outdoor gyms are easily accessible to them. • Beneficial for their health. • Enjoyable to use - 70% of participants find exercising outdoors is more beneficial for health than exercising indoors. 80% of participants find exercise more enjoyable when outdoors than indoors. In addition, outdoor public gyms in parks help in: 1. Cutting obesity - encouraging healthy living for all. 2. Providing free exercise equipment, enabling those who do not have the money for a gym membership to exercise. 3. Proving a family-friendly environment - a great way for parents to encourage their children to exercise. Even if children are too young to use the equipment themselves seeing adults working out in an environment that they are familiar with helps to make this seem like a natural part of daily life. As well as this, outdoor gym equipment in parks is an ideal way for families with older children to get out and exercise together. Cllr Maium Miah

  • PROTECT OUR CLIFFS
Any approval to build, is one that has huge negative impacts, to the open space and special character of our coastline forever, the impact to the cliff integrity/stability. The photo shows a site highlighted as being built on, this build is now seeking approval for unapproved works. It is important because in 2015 over 1,000 people signed an online petition through change.org ( Protect Newquay Clifftops) to two applications to build on gardens at Island Crescent, Newquay. There were further objections made to Cornwall Council. This lead to one application ( front garden) being REFUSED by Cornwall Council, then taken to at appeal by the applicants and Dismissed by the Inspector. The other application ( rear garden)being WITHDRAWN. Yet they have built to that plan anyway!? Since then the applications have continued and concerns about them and their content raised to the planning department. Now a second APPEAL PENDING on the front garden. The applications have not stopped, with the applicant not adhering to two permissions on the rear garden.Leading to enforcement action, RETROSPECTIVE PLANNING PERMISSION PENDING to be decided early September. We need Sajid Javid MP, and Michael Gove MP. to: Protect our treasured and unique coastline and support: 1) The public voice of the community and wider. 2) Newquay Town Council. 3)Our Mayor past and present 4)The members of Cornwall Council Planning department against cliff top development ( last vote on most recent application 12-2 against proposal to build) 5)The Planning Inspector on reasons for his previous decision to Dismiss the application 6)Our local MP Steve Double 7) Facebook page Protect Newquay Clifftops This area once protected by the policies of the Restormel Borough Plan no longer are until the NNP is is in place. We need it not to fall into an area of no protection that would allow it to be built on. These are garden grabbing applications, this is not "brownfield land" and should not be seen as such. The National Planning Policy Framework encourages the community to engage, to have voice within its community. Please help the voice of this community and wider that seek to protect, preserve the coastal fringe of Newquay get the weight required to give credit to the development stages of the Newquay Neighbourhood plan to Protect our coastline from such proposals.

  • Allow BeerHeadZ a premises licence at 4 Eastgate Lincoln LN2 1QA
In a time of so many pub closures, we feel that BeerHeadz would provide a licenced premises to the area that will compliment the existing pubs/bars in the Bailgate area. If allowed to trade they'll provide employment in the area, promote Lincoln through pub tourism helping out local transport and eateries. Being free of Tie, they'll also be able to support the local brewery scene. They'll promote responsible drinking in a controlled environment, much more than the less controlled off sales from the supermarkets!
