Support for a Seven Barrage Tidal LagoonIt is the second largest tidal range in the world and would generate clean power now and for future generations without reliance on toxic resources from around the world. Many jobs would be generated and it would benefit the environment with cleaner power. It seems so obvious when we are surrounded by water and wave power waiting to be captured!8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Linda Tucker

Pesticide Free DorkingTraces of at least 41 different types of pesticides can be found in our town of Dorking. These chemicals are devastating to our local, natural environment, contaminating our natural resources relied on by wildlife such as birds, bees and hedgehogs -- and they’re dangerous to humans too. Urban pesticide use is unnecessary. Hundreds of parishes, towns and cities around the world & across the UK have banned them - including London’s Hammersmith and Fulham, Lewes, Glastonbury, Waderidge and, locally, the Parish of Frensham. Pesticides are currently sprayed in our parks, our playgrounds, our schools, and our residential streets. These chemicals have been linked to an array of health problems, from neurological disorders to Parkinson’s Disease, with vulnerable people such as children, pregnant women and the elderly most at risk. Realistic alternatives to using these dangerous chemicals do exist. By choosing to use organic and non-toxic systems such as hot water and foam technology, Mole Valley Council can show the residents of Dorking that they care for our health and the welfare of our local natural environment, to create an impact now and for future generations.44 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Emma Randall-Milne

STOP using environmentally hazardous plastics for organics packaging!Whatishealthy.info petition that organic regulatory bodies ban any plastic materials from packaging of organic food that causes environmental hazards. For the plastic packaging to not cause environmental hazards, it must be fully recyclable and certified to circular economy regulations such as supported by Organics Council ®, to ensure it does not end up in landfills. Opting for organic products shall help both to keep nature and human health safe, but have you ever noticed what organic food in supermarkets is packed in? It is mostly non-recyclable plastic. In the modern world, where many companies switch to zero waste and circular economy, it is unacceptable that ‘organic’ is still allowed to be sold in landfilling plastic packaging. In the Organics Council ® 2018 organic food packaging environmental pollution survey on the major UK supermarkets’ own label packagings [6], the Organics Council ® found that only 4% of all organic food packaging is fully recyclable, while 90% contain plastic. Almost 40% of the products failed to provide sufficient information on packaging recyclability, with some suggesting that the customer should check for recyclability information from elsewhere, and some claiming the information can be found on the label while, in fact, it is absent. Soil Association Certification Ltd, the major organic certification body in the UK, claims to be ‘pioneers of protecting the environment’ and is proud of the fact that their regulations ‘go above and beyond legal requirements’. [1] Contrary to their claims, the Organics Council ® survey revealed that 94% of the goods they certified contain plastic in the packaging, and none of these are fully recyclable. Among all products, only 1% is fully recyclable! Another major UK company, Marks & Spencer, states that all their products are going to be 100% widely recycled by 2022. [2] Nevertheless, the Organics Council ® survey showed that so far, they are nowhere close to that goal when it comes to organic goods – none of their organic product packaging is currently fully recyclable. In the light of the facts, the major companies are not credible to live up to the promises that may be broken; we need to take action right now. Consider these facts about plastic: - 8.3 billion tons of plastic have been produced since the beginning of the synthetic materials industry; - almost 80% of this plastic has accumulated in the environment; [3] - plastic kills sea animals; [4] - plastic is also likely to end up on our plate. [5] We think by no means any goods that are not packaged in fully recyclable plastic shall be called 'organic'. ‘Organic’ is a synonym of ‘sustainable’, and everything labelled as such – both content and packaging – shall not harm our planet and our health; otherwise, it is no better than ordinary goods. Sign this petition to demand a ban on the use of polluting plastics in the organic industry and to only allow the use of fully sustainable packaging instead, in order for a product to be called ‘organic’. ________________ References: [1] www.soilassociation.org/blogs/2018/may/01/unwrapping-organic-packaging/ [2] www.packagingnews.co.uk/features/ms-plan-polymer-reasons-profile-kevin-vyse-05-01-2018 [3] www.advances.sciencemag.org/content/3/7/e1700782.full [4] www.onegreenplanet.org/environment/how-plastic-is-harming-animals-the-planet-and-us/ [5] www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2017/feb/14/sea-to-plate-plastic-got-into-fish [6] https://whatishealthy.info/stop-product-from-being-called-organic-when-its-packaging-is-landfilling-the-earth/23 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Whatishealthy .info

Free High Quality Pollution Masks For All In LondonI just spent £40.00 on a pollution mask so that I can cycle my way into town with feeling slightly safer with less exposure to the toxic levels of air pollution that fill the city. At first, on purchasing the mask it almost felt like the normal thing to do, increasingly seeing more masks pop up on cyclists faces throughout town. "Well the air dramatically exceeds legal toxicity levels, it gives me respiratory problems, it flares my hay-fever up terribly... I guess this is just something i need now because this is how it is, and i care about my health..." I thought to myself. But wait a minute... Why am i having to fork out forty quid so i can breath safely on my way to work?! Especially when I am one of the few who are trying to make a difference by choosing to cycle my way around town. I am not contributing to this health crisis yet I am paying for it. The truth is, we're all paying for it whether you're a cyclist, driver, walker, tuber. Having lived in London for 3 years now, and been a cyclist the entire time, the terrible air quality is something myself and friends have become increasingly aware of and is something we have noticed getting worse with little being done urgently to change this. "Around 9,500 people die in London alone every year due to long-term exposure to air pollution, with most deaths due to nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and fine particulates known as PM2.5s." (Guardian 7 Oct 2015) "The research based on the latest updated London Atmospheric Emissions Inventory, shows that every area in the capital exceeds World Health Organisation (WHO) limits for a damaging type of particle known as PM2.5. It also found that 7.9 million Londoners – nearly 95% of the capital’s population – live in areas that exceed the limit by 50% or more. In central London the average annual levels are almost double the WHO limit of 10 µg/m3." - (Guardian Oct, 2017) An "Ultra Low emission zone" set for 2019 and to be expanded by 2021 is a good step, but we need more urgent action to be taken. "Paul Morozzo, a clean air campaigner at Greenpeace, said: “London air isn’t safe to breathe. Every person in London is affected by this crisis – old or young, healthy or ill. The air you breathe in London is putting your health at risk now and in the future, whether you realise it or not." (Guardian 4 Oct 2017). Cyclists, walkers and members of the public who choose to opt out of driving/ public transport should be encouraged to continue staying green by being given pollution masks to wear in the increasingly dangerous and toxic environment. Although i feel this is by no means a solution to the problem, and Government must take more drastic steps to ensure the safety of the public here in London and in all areas across the country affected by air pollution, I feel this is a fair and necessary action until air quality improves. The Masks should be seen as an immediate and necessary tool to reduce the risk of illness in a city with a government that seems to refuse to take responsibility for the mess it has caused to air quality. I just don't feel this is something I should have to pay for when Government could implement stricter laws more urgently to protect it's people right now. High quality pollution masks such as the Respro Ultralight Pollution Mask filter out the deadly particulates and dust allowing you to breath cleaner air. I hope that this petition may reach and enlighten those who may not be aware of the severity of the crisis. I am not just campaigning for my own health and well-being, but for all in the city. We should all be wearing pollution masks right now, however you travel through the city. If you are concerned for you and your families health regarding air pollution, and you feel you should be protected with a mask, then I feel it is the responsibility of Government to provide you with one. I don't feel I should be rewarded or congratulated for choosing to cycle. I love cycling. I get everywhere faster, I have more fun, i get exercise and i feel good at the thought that i am not contributing to the air crisis. But I feel we all should have the right to breath safer, cleaner air, especially if you care enough to take positive action to combat the problem.25 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Joshua Donaldson

Wheelie bins for CornwallLitter and waste is a severe problem in Cornwall. The majority of waste left out for bin collections gets attacked by animals or birds. Cornwall is a beautiful county, which is trying hard via many volunteer groups to keep litter out of our rivers and ultimately the sea. I belong to the Bude Rubbish Action Group, (BRAG), who meet regularly to clear our lovely town of litter. BRAG also educates our community how to deal correctly with waste and litter. The use of wheelie bins would have a massive impact on the problem of waste being blown around our streets. With huge amounts of waste and plastic finding its way into our oceans, I feel the Government and local councils should act immediately. Please provide us with wheelie bins.43 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Binzy Reynolds
